I'm one of the many of Bruce's anonymous RUclips students. His eschatological studies have been a great blessing worldwide. I'd like to express my appreciation to him as a teacher but also encourage him as a fellow student to keep learning and consider all things possible with God. Because... what if Revelation was written before 70 AD... *wink* *wink*

You are most welcome. He does believe Revelation was written at the early date, just to clarify [and I’m sorry if I misunderstood] but has, as he mentioned, some discomfort and philosophical objections as well as seeing a few texts that make it difficult for him to embrace full preterism.

Joel, I like what you have done with this format and for me, I think you did a very good job both technically (sound and visually was great) and with the way you facilitated the discussion. You lead with the best questions and gave Bruce ample time, without any irritating interruption as some are wont to do. The discussion helped me think through and refine where I am at. Obviously, the remaining nagging issues betwixt full and partial preterism remain; the issues of philosophical need for a terminus in the human project by God and as aways the Creeds and Church history. I am believing the Lord will unfold, in His providential way, how much more we have to understand so that we can reach unity and maturity in the Lord. We preterists say that this will go on forever and the Post-Mills say, we may have another 30,000 yrs. So, not to worry about what's in front of us for a while yet other than to continue to preach and live His Gospel. Anyways, strength and prayers. Love br. David - Canada.

This was great. As far as Bruce's opposition to the full preterist view, the philosophical point should carry 0 weight. The sacrament issue is really not a big hurdle. We can still practice communion (it was just a meal anyway!). Revelation 10:4 is no issue either. John is told to seal up an empty scroll since he's not allowed to write down what the seven thunders had uttered. Furthermore, in verse 7, it says that the mystery of God would be finished when the trumpet was about to be sounded.

Great interview! If I had to use one term or two words to describe Bruce Gore the term would be Honest Man and the two words would be Honest and Sincere. If they were all like him, we could have true dialog which is what we need instead of debate. Debating seems unseemly for Christians since it becomes about winning the debate. We need to come together in public forums such as this one and have real dialog which purpose is to discover the truth together.

    • @thepastdays
      @thepastdays  6 месяцев назад +1

I appreciate your thoughts here. Lord willing, over time there will be more honest dialogue. I don’t know if you saw the interview where Ward Fenley interviewed Doug Wilson, but Wilson also does not condemn full preterism, and of course neither does Demar who Bruce mentioned. I think this is all to the good! I am not opposed to debate, as sometimes it helps the audience think through their views, but even debate can be done in a Christ-honoring manner.

Daniel was told to seal up the prophecy and he was given a reason why: because it was for a time far off.
In Revelation 22:1 John was told not to seal up the Revelation and he was given the reason why; because the time was near.
It Revelation 10:4 John is told to seal up the things the seven thunders uttered, but he is not given the reason.
In Revelation 10:6 John is told that there will be no more delay.
No where are told that the things the seven thunders uttered were prophecies.
There is no textual evidence to support the conclusion that the seven thunders uttered prophecies yet to be fulfilled.
In light of the fact that John was told not to seal up the prophecy because the time was near, we must assume that all of the prophecy was to take place shortly.
We cannot change our hermeneutic just because we are not comfortable with the conclusion it leads to.

Bruce is a great teacher. I have watched him many times and he certainly knows scripture. I have to say I disagree with Bruce thinking Jesus has not yet returned. If so, then none of us is saved. Bruce mentions Revelation 10, but the rest of what is said is as follows:
5 And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven 6 and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay, 7 but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God would be fulfilled, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.
8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the scroll that is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” 9 So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little scroll. And he said to me, “Take and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.” 10 And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.
The temple had not yet been destroyed, so if the book was closed it was because Jesus had not yet come during the time John was writing to warn the churches of that day.

Yeah, I have a hard time understanding the belief of a late date of composition of the book of Revelation. (Post 70 A.D.)
I believe Jesus did return with His Kingdom which He inagurated during His short physical ministry on earth, and those who don't believe that is because, like the Pharisees in Luke 17:20 that Jesus was telling how this Kingdom would come, they haven't realized the Kingdom that is now is in the Spirit. They're still bound by the 5 senses by incorrect teaching by sincere souls but spiritual infants.

Yes, the judgment took place in the first century 30-70 AD, since then we have lived in the New Heaven and the New Earth, that is the New Covenant in Jesus Christ's work of redemption. The spiritual laws of harvest and judgment have never stopped, world history is a single proof of this. The Holy Spirit of God still works with his supernatural gifts through his worldwide community of all born-again Christians. Just like the Lord's Supper, through this we have fellowship with Jesus. We remember his death and resurrection to his glory. Praise and worship, prayer and intercession are important building blocks of a living fellowship with the Spirit of God. Many prophetic impressions of recent years have announced times of judgment that we can see in recent years. Blessing

⭕ God told Moses on Mt. Sinai to use Pi 3.14 π as the cornerstone to build the Wilderness Tabernacle in 1440 BC. In 94 AD Josephus the historian wrongly described it as rectangular-shaped. Exodus 25-26-27 blueprints build a circular-shaped outer courtyard. What is superior, the bible or non-canonical established ecuametal history?
330 Exodus 26:8 eleven curtains each 30 cubits long
15 Exodus 26:12 one curtain is folded in half to 15 cubits long
    - 1 Exodus 26:13 curtain hang over/seams add to 1 cubit long
    = 314
    3.14 = 314 circumference/100 diameter ≈ π ratio (100 cubit court per Exodus 27:9-18)
    .................
Is this like the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls or even Martin Luther's 95 Theses? How did we miss this for 1900 years and does it even matter anymore?
    ..................
    History of finding π:
    -(1900-1680 BC) Babylonian 3.125 for π
-(1650 BC) Egyptians gave the approximate value of π 3.1605
-(1440 BC) Moses recorded Pi in the Exodus blueprints 3.141592653... Exodus 26:13 ≈ Pi
    -(500 BC) India's Aryabhata approximation was 62,832/20,000, or 3.141
    -(429-501 BC) Zu Chongzhi a Chinese mathematician 3.1415926 - 3.1415927
-(250 BC) Archimedes from Syracuse showed between 3.1408 and 3.1429
    .................
More than a thousand years removed Josephus did NOT know Exodus 26:13 approximated Pi. He was describing the Temple's structure and NOT, and NOT the Tabernacle from Exodus 25-26-27. See?
Pi is coded in your DNA.
Consider King Josiah & the Prophetess Huldah rediscovering the forgotten scriptures, right? What is your next move?

    Revelation 10
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
Partial preterism is still dispensationalism, aka taking out the garbage tomorrow but quickly. (I love this analogy btw)

I appreciate your thoughts here! It seems that when we put all the very clear statements made my Jesus and the apostles re. the timing of his second appearing and the constituent elements, there is no getting around it. Even if there are some passages that are less clear, as perhaps Revelation 10 is, good hermeneutics would have us interpret those texts in light of those that are clearer.
I tried to think and read myself out of full preterism, but I simply couldn’t do it…
