Wow, I absolutely love the channel!!! I live in Sanford, FL and fished Okeechobee with my grandfather and dad when I was a little older than your son. I grew up on the water in central florida doing all kinds of fishing and hunting. I love seeing you with the family and teaching them. Bonus is the Bible verses and Christianity!! Keep it up and keep the outdoorz!!!! Awesome!!!!

It’s actually quite easy to find them on the lake right now! The cold fronts shock the water temps and gets them all to swarm towards the shore. Usually any canal like the Indian Prairie Canal or The Kissimmee river will get them earlier than the lake but as they start to spawn and move closer to shore especially now into January and February you can really just find them anywhere. When it gets really good you can just go anchor up to a clump of pencil grass and start throwing out bobbers and you’ll find them! No tricks or secrets, they’re literally everywhere. Just gotta hop around spots until you find them thick but once you do it’s usually pretty good!

Can you catch them anywhere in the lake next to grassy areas or do they like specific areas?

They really just move around everywhere near the shore. If you’re planning on going I would start in the Indian Prairie Canal, In the mouth of the Kissimmee river or on the pencil grass on the lake near the shore. Look for 5-7 foot of depth. The bite is better in the morning or afternoon

@nativeoutdoorz thank you. Any recommendations where I should launch if I'm on a kayak?
