Truly breaking that stereotype of every one... every time I talk about the subject, people often think of the "gold caps" kind or instantly talks about mushrooms being a 'lazy hippy'.
This big time breaks that stereotype.
Anyone pushing that 'lazy hippy' narrative is just uninformed, and missing out.
I am appreciating your channel immensely! I am a first time grower, taking baby steps just like you have said. Of course it is a bit intimidating, but the information you are sharing so freely is giving me so much more confidence in taking the next step.
I just harvested from a store bought grow log. I have been studying and preparing to make my own spawn and substrate, and purchased a couple types of compressed hardwood sawdust - blocks and bbq pellets. But I have never used a pressure cooker before and have personally never really done sterile work so I have been just biting my nails over it.
Today I went to put away the shiitake that I harvested last night and there are some fabulous spore prints that I am going to try and make syringes from. May as well experiment now right?
My goal is to learn how to cultivate enough types of food that we can be more self-sustaining. I never imagined I would geek out on mushrooms so much though. But this is all so fascinating! And I discovered my 8 year old son would rather eat sautéed mushrooms than Mac and cheese, so now we are going to become gourmet mushroom aficionados together 😊
Seeing your clean room processes as you explain them, down to the detail of how often you re-sanitize your hands etc, is just so helpful and rare to find. I feel like I may avoid a lot of growing pains and learning experiences because of your videos.
And I appreciate your style too. Your dialogue is very informative and perfectly chill. There are many channels that have good info but are really annoying to listen to, for various reasons. Yours is just pleasant all-around. I’ll be recommending this channel to anyone who is interested in growing mushrooms!
Sterile work is pretty straight forward. if you live near a community college, you could take a biology 101 course and get just about everything you need to know from there

You guys could probably release a really long ASMR video of Mike just crinkling the bags and placing a mic near the fans and humidifiers to pick up the humming noises, lol. These videos are so chill and lowkey, that's definitely part of the channels appeal.
I'm always surprised at how healthy and large the flushes are.
Well I certainly would hope for large healthy flushes after buying a warehouse & all that equipment

Hey Mike! Love your videos. You should do some time-lapse videos of the different strains. If they turn out great, I'd bet a NatGeo type show would do a special on mushrooms, you, and your company.

You have such healthy mycelium Mike. I'm just starting out but my Pioppino blocks have very wispy mycelium instead of that nice solid mass.
maybe go with more spawn material for a thicker mycelium, but Im only guessing

That's a topic he addressed in one of his videos. This is the most effective method presently available. Some people are working on alternatives but they're not finished.

I'd say not likely, most of the grains' nutrients have been used for the fruiting. They can be used in your garden if you'd like.

My amateur opinion is, that it wouldn't produce so big and good-looking mushrooms. But you can always try. :)

I hope that you can help me: My main RUclips Channel (Another Perspective, 38k subs) has receives 2 strikes in 2 days claiming that "mushroom growth time lapse" shows illegal content (drugs). A review of RUclips brought no solution. I got another strike for a video about shiitake mushrooms.I have removed all of my mushroom content (This channel "HappyMushrooms" is pretty new, no strikes right now). Any idea why youtube is starting doing this? I have upload mushroom time lapse for 8 month now getting 5k-30k views and now it seems as all mushroom content is getting taken down and channel are striked out of the youtube game/business.
