@chicofromph33nix64 start small. Still air box. Get a liquid culture from the internet. Get Paul Stamets book on how to grow. Research Research Research! What just keep learning
@@joshdobesh I got a flow hood on the way and getting a still air box in the near future.... I have a few syringes of spores and LC already... I've inoculated 4 bags but 2 just stalled out on me.. the others look like they're coming along.. i got some books I'm reading from Terrance McKenna and learning from videos.... I'm definitely going to look into that book you recommend, thank you very much... I've been interested in growing mushrooms for about 6 months now,but I freaking love it already... plus the community is so loving and everyone enjoys helping others out... ever since I've watched southwest mushrooms videos I felt this is the road I wanna take... their warehouse is just a mile up the road from me.. I want to get on that level someday.. I need to take a trip over there to see their set up... i guess start with friends and family and grow from there... you're right,just gotta start small and take baby steps... I'm looking way ahead of myself... I'll make something of this, I know it... sorry for the novel,but REALLY APPRECIATE THE ENCOURAGEMENT...💯💪🏽🍄❤

I've been making soma, which is just wild mushrooms, fermented with yeast, sugar, leaves, and distilled water. Looks like it's beer, but seems to be a semi active liquid culture in terms of growing them.
The spores settle to the bottom, just like yeast.
I don't have a sterile lab, I'd be curious if you could prove this would work as a viable spore syringe, without being steam sterilized, or isolated.
I'd also be curious if that would work as is for sterile spawn, or pasteurized bulk sub.
It would further explain how ancient people worked with mushrooms without sterile techniques. From Soma medicine, I think they would inoculate piles of logs, and once they would be colonized, they'd be moved into caves.
I think they used to put the spawn in clay casks inside the cave, if I'm not mistaken.
This would have been around and before the dark ages.
I've also been studying Ectomycchorizae, and I think Soma can do similar things to mushrooms, as in integrate foreign DNA into their genetic code... seems like a labs job to prove tho lol
That's interesting, I love reading about different processes and especially older ones.
I'm a total history nerd so if you have any good reading material on what you're discussing I would very much appreciate it.

Was just wanting to take best growth from each dish and mixing into my grainbags. What are your thoughts? Will be oysters and lions mane to start.

Anyone have experience with tryptone v peptone for making agar and LC? Can anyone recommend one over the other or is a mixture ideal? Thank you so much for any guidance.

I have a question what is the difference between a 5lb block & a 10lb block do you get more yield from the 10lb block?
I need to try agar. Im wondering the best way to collect lions mane spores. The bottom of my tent is covered in white from them dropping. Im pressing my tincture and making the decoction today from them. Thanks man!
You can just use a piece of fruiting body and drop it on the agar to clone. Philly Golden Teacher has a video on cloning with agar.
@@theodorekr9701 its all sitting in a jar of alcohol hahaha just got the spores on a dog cage mat or whatever you'd call it. People get the martha tent then put it on top of it. Maybe a razor. Its just not flat. He's got some great videos though your right
