Good video, thank you I have an old grand marquis i had like 4 ever, got the lower control arms replaced 3 yrs ago, put now I'm sure it needs the upper.. got wait for good weather to start my project
The ball joint goes into a cone-shaped hole in the wheel hub. This cone-shaped hole has a split in one side and a bolt clamping the split together. With the bolt removed, you can use a chisel-like device and a hammer to spread the split a little wider to allow the ball joint to fit in the cone-shaped hole. Once it is mostly in the hole, use the nut to seat it completely
@@bradensmith888 I replaced the upper control arm assembly with the Ball joints in it both sides is not much difference in the price if you shop around
Notice nobody has a video on the drivers side …. Notice the chilton or Haynes manual offers no specific information on drivers side for this specific model series . Interesting….. all the brake lines right on the nuts …
Beautiful video

Very good video! Thanks! I will be doing the same on my 93' Crown Vic
Bless you for this video. You are very helpful.
Thank you for this! My upper ball joint's rubber has shredded and started to creak! Been relying on WD-40 and its scary haha.
BTW, the ball joint torque is 66 ft lbs and bushing nuts 129 ft lbs. Everything you did is what's in service manual.
Are those specs for 2003+ or 1998-2002?
Funny how seeing other people do things make you think 🤔.....I can do that!😂
Not me😂 Cause I know I can do that.
Aligning the two holes for the axis/pivot bolts was probably the hardest part in the whole process, in any mechanical job actually..
Excellent video 👍👍👍
Is the procedure for the control arm the same on the driver's side?
How did u put the ball joint in....im struggling with that. Is it pressed in?

I need lower
My ball joint just went bad, I saw that you used a pry bar, but you skipped on how to put it back in. Does it require a press???
No, it dose not require a press. I used pry bar to align the control arm only.
@@ahmedaltowaileb Thanks
I’m gonna guess your steering still feels terrible?
