For those complaining about the long door openings, back in the day this served as a loading screen in between rooms. That's just the way old survival horror games worked 😂
It's still a fun game.

There is a mod which skips the door animation it's not even a loading screen it's just a animation
These games were meant to be played slow there survivor horror games and @Aviatrix 777 you are correct these were the loading screens.Been 25 years since I played this game love the nostalgia 😢. Miss these days

There's something about the music in the typewriter rooms that is so melancholic, yet inviting. I swear this music is etched into my subconscious due to playing soooo much Resi as a kid :)
I have the game cube version of that one and hell no am not playing it again but yes inviting and calming

I always thought that the mansion was a really weird design. If you think about it, there are two tiny bedrooms with no windows, and one really inconvenient bathroom. I know it's for game dynamics, but it still interests me
The house was more of a prison for anyone who worked there really. And no one trapped inside ever got a 'red flag' warning to try and run away. Now matter how much their flesh rotted or how dangerous the creatures there got
Yeah, I do get that, but it struck me as odd.
What's more interesting is that whoever made the mansion felt the need to buy a different type of door for every single room

Am I the only one that wants RE1 fully remade with the RE Engine, like what they did with the RE2 Remake?
Without the old camera angle and the door animation, it will never the same.
But RE7 with the engine still scary enough. Well, maybe RE1 with RE Engine still work.

In terms of atmosphere, tension, design, RE1 is unbeatable. I mean, sure, Raccoon City is a blast to explore even today, but I believe Spencer Mansion had a charm of its own. I'd love for Capcom to remake this game again, as long as they provide Chris and Jill with 2 very different campaigns. The fact their story is 95% the same is the only real downside to me
RPD still the best for me but Spencer Mansion comes super close.
I also agree that they should remake this game a second time for fans old and new like with resident evil 2 and resident evil 3 with similar game mechanics but keeping it the same way as before

The door animations, although used for the purpose of loading the next area, also created anticipation for the next area especially if you just found the right key or means to unlock it.
God forbid you have to experience the game like millions of other people did...

When I was growing up, I didn't ever see the doors openly slowly as an inconvenient pause in my experience. They added to the atmosphere. Love this game.

I was 12 then and I remember just being amazed with the graphics, they are still really good especially considering the age.

Even if ur playing it for the first time , you cant get lost in the game process. I keep on scratching my head just by watching him playing. And last ... So much saving the game.

You can tell Puppet Combo was heavily inspired by the camera angle mechanics in this game.

I just got this a couple days ago. I can already tell, you even with watching walkthroughs it’s going to take a handful of runs to get this game down and memorize the map/puzzles. Definitely more elaborate than the remake they just put out. Not that the remake of 2 is bad but the puzzles are majority combination safes and stuff like that.
Love this game but I wouldn't say there's any particularly hard puzzles, it keeps your brain thinking with the inventory management, can't really think of a hard puzzle though
@@nemesis8626 for sure the puzzle are simple. I don’t know what it is that draws me to play this more than newer titles like 8. I got bored of that game fairly quickly

Just finished 0 it’s my first time playing these games and I have to say amazing! I seen the remakes and this is why I’ve started playing because these games are a masterpiece, I hope I get them all completed by the time the village comes out 2 and 3 look so good I can’t wait to sink hours into them

A little over halfway through this game and have to say I never thought I'd love it this much. Like many intro into the series was RE4. I've played every other entry numerous times avoiding the ones with fixed camera angles. I've dabbled. Made it midway through CVX and realized I botched it at the Airplane Tyrant needing to start over.. haven't. Played a little of RE0.. and finally gave this one another shot after not feeling it the first time I gave it a shot. This time around I haven't been able to put it down. I'm inspired to pick up 0 again and CVX. This game is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

It's not Call of Duty.
Its survival horror, if you waste all the ammo on small fry zombies you wont have any for bosses. Plus if you just waste all your ammo you wont have it when youre really in a jam
@@0Zero_ have you ever played a survival horror game in your life? You're not supposed to go guns blazing in these types of games. This is the equivalent of saying you should go all loud in a stealth game like metal gear solid just because those games hand you weapons as well

i played this religiously when i was a kid, I am the onyl person i know that unlocked the rocket launcher. You had to beat the game in under 6 hours and never save it once. Resident evil will always be a part of me. To make matters more crazy, when i was even younger i proclaimed milla jovavich as my favorite model. So when my favorite game and model came together, my god it really was a dream made just for me. .......... hehe no lie
that not that hard lots of people have done including myself.
I use to see how fast I could beat the original game, best time was 48 minutes as Chris and best ending.
12 year old me had the whole game layout memorized and what I thought was best route, recently found a knife only wr run.....
Those movies were straight dogwater.
The graphics were pretty good for when this came out. Game was complicated as hell lol brings back memories though

I'd like to see a *"Walking playthrough"* of any _CLASSIC_ Resident Evil, where the player WALKS _exclusively_ (doesn't ever push the run button) the whole time through and never runs. I couldn't find any on RUclips.

ClarenseE That’s how I play all games so it makes it more realistic, because seriously who is going to run around a huge mansion that they have no idea of what’s there? I do the same in games like mafia 3 or GTA; I stop at all red lights and stay in one driving lane.

You need to always carry the OP Weapon at all costs as any place can be a boss battle. For Example, the spider boss.

I remember when the original came out and I desperately wanted to play (I've always been a zombie fan), but I simply could not and still can't get past, what I consider to be the WORST possible player perspective in video game history. If this game was redone (again) incorporating at least a player controlled 3rd person perspective I feel it would be a massive improvement.
Of course I would also take the initiative and actually SHOOT the zombies I encounter instead of just running around them.
All in all though, nice gameplay vid!
Trust me dude, I'm playing the game for the first time and the camera angles are God damn infuriating. It's a shitty mechanic trying to make you feel scared but all it does is make you confused and make you go the wrong way every time. I know the game was made in the mid 90's so they didn't know better. But still, it sucks, it to mention the weird limited saves.
They really should remake this like how they remake RE2 and RE3. For some reason, a lot of diehard RE fans don't think it's necessary and love the old fixed camera angles.

It irritates me how much people don’t understand what WALKTHROUGH means. Walkthrough is commentary and helps WALK YOU THROUGH how to complete things and tasks This is a PLAYTHROUGH meaning it’s not to educate but to just play the game for others to see. But good game tho and good video just wish people actually knew the damn difference

The terrible camera angle is really the reason this game is in the horror genre. It's the effectual equivalent of the chronic jump scares that generate 'scary' in recent movies.

@@nightcore-ql1gqyou usually don’t go and waste all of it at any zombie you see. it’s more effective to save everything for when you’ll really need it with these types of games, so yeah, i think thats what they were doing :) pretty effective if you can get away easily

Resident Evil 7 went back to its roots, they said. Nothing like it. This is so much better. I think people are into the series for the survival and action, not horror. There is Silent Hill for that.
Noble_Hologram i think by going back too the roots, they meant settings and conserving ammo. Like the fact that you're in a mansion surrounded by woods
I think everyone complained about RE7 because of the first-person view. It was new to the RE fans and they just aren't use to something they haven't gotten before.
you've obviously never play a silent hill game out of the 8 game the series always stayed true its survival horror its roots unlike resident evil.

RE7 was bad because it’s in the same boring place my favorite is RE4 with so many places to go it’s more fun.
When I was about 8 years old this game came out on PS1. I asked my mom to buy this for me as a Christmas present, which she did (she had no clue). Boy, I literally shit my pants when I tried to play this. It still gets me tbh.
I was 5 when this came out in 96 and I used to watch my older brothers play on PlayStation one and I fell in love with it! Just got into resident evil 7 and it’s so addicting!!

I liked this version of "RE" but hated the faded colors and overuse of "grey-scale" , , , that being said it's STILL one of the most realistic looking games ever made , possibly worthy of a "Top 15 realistic games list" , , , 😸👍
