Wonderfully played. So rich and articulate. Can you tell us how you chose to play with the guitar resting on your right thigh? It looks quite comfortable and awkward at the same time.
Thanks Geoff. Yes, it is "quite comfortable and awkward at the same time". The early years with the foot stool destroyed my lumbar spine. I am just trying to continue, and this is what it looks like.
I don't know what this is, but I do like it. Is this your composition? It is a very delightful theme that rests easy on my ears. Listening to this makes me smile
"GOOGLE SEARCH" for Drume Negrito (Afro- Cuban Lullaby) " One of the most enduring melodies from Cuba, Drume Negrita was written in the 1920's by Cuban composer Eliseo Grenet. Throughout the years, it has been arranged for numerous instrumental combinations and is especially popular in an adaptation by Leo Brouwer." ... I can remember this piece from my earlier classical guitar lessons in the 80's . Michael knows all the great classical pieces. Thank you to Michael for posting your awesome talent.
@@AlOwens Afraid not. I don’t do any classical rep. Many years ago I worked up a simplified version of Bach’s Jesu, which I learned at my sister’s-in-law request to play as the march for her wedding. I played it that one time then never again. My solo guitar rep consists of jazz standards, bossa, pop tunes, Christmas, hymns and some roots/traditional stuff. And it’s so large I’m having a Devil of a time keeping them all to performance level.
as far as the sound of the guitar: 1) anyone listening on computer speakers can not judge the sound of the instrument. I find solo acoustic steel string to be particularly bad sounding on computer speakers because of the strength of the attack relative to the sustain. 2) the story is that a visitor came to heifetz after a concert and remarked "your violin sounds superb" heifetz walked over to the case, opened it, listened and said "I don't hear anything." 3) I've played brownie and it is a very balanced and rich instrument; I've heard others play it in the same room and it sounds much better when others play it than when I do.
One man's romantic, thick midrange is another man's muffle. I voiced this guitar for a prominent midrange, and I got what I was after. Lots of fine players find this guitar very attractive, but you can't please everyone with one specific guitar, of course. Michael loves this guitar, and that's enough for me!
@@kenparkerarchtoppery9440 Well said. This guitar plays very earnestly. It’s nice to hear someone working to give a guitar a unique voice. I found it also suited Micheal’s playing very well. Beautiful work!
@@NotOrdinaryInGames Thanks. I'll make some other instruments available to Michael, and hope he'll keep recording with them. What a privilege to hear him in his native habitat, with mics of his own choosing.
Beautiful Michael. We will really miss you.
Très belle guitare ! un look très class et une sonorité merveilleuse !
The world is better because of you.

Such a master piece of an epic guitar from the legend master himself.👏 Thanks Michael!
Maestro Chapdelaine! It's always great to see you post videos. I used to love to play this song. Hope you're well. - Samuel C.

Love it! The guitar is really well suited to the piece and your performance is just lovely.
Very long time seeing you update.

hey,Micheal .nice playing as usual .Glad to see you playing a different guitar, nice hair cut by the way.
I love classical performance and technique on other guitars. Can't wait for your Les Paul into a power tube soaked big Tweed combo.

I simply cannot love this guitar too much. It is just so muffled.

@@kenparkerarchtoppery9440 It's lush and warm, and Michael brings out the beauty of it. Well done, Ken!
Thank you Michael, I always look forward to your performances. Is that a Ken Parker archtop?
Thanks Daryn! Yes, it's a Parker. A loaner for the Artisan Festival last weekend. Amazing guitar.
The recording is very Boomy?
I don't think this sounds as good as a classical guitar, kinda harsh
Wow, Boomy AND Harsh! Didn't know it was possible!
So special 🙏
