You probably already figured it out. But that metal bracket you thought was for a thumb actually goes from the bottom of the boom to the cab, that prevents the boom from swinging so you can use your auxiliary hydraulic lines.
When you take trees down, always undermine the stump on the side you want the tree to fall. That gives it some relief and provides leverage for the tree to pull itself over the direction you want it to go.
I think you got yourself a nice dependable machine there Dave. Thanks for posting and I was impressed with your girlfriends abilities with the controls. Take care and see you on the next one!
You may have paid more than you usually would for a machine, but you got a well maintained machine. Nice to see your girl show interest and operate the new purchase. I have a couple of licence plates, I live in Canada so if shipping isn't outrageous I'll send them.
That's a rebranded Yanmar, probably a B50. I noticed it as soon as you started it up for the first time, this engine sound is unique. Oh now that I watch further and looked at it, it's definitely a Yanmar. Nice machine you got there.👍🏻
You and anyone else operating that machine should put on the seatbelt to keep you from flying out the open window, especially when operating with blade at the rear; also NOT recommended. Exhaust bracket likely to protect the protruding pipe... Seems like a good find👌
About the hydraulic oil after you operate the hydraulic s, check the condition of oil in the tank for air bubbles or foam. Checking for air in the oil 😊
Looks like you got a well maintained used machine. Expect to replace parts that wear due to normal use. 9500 lbs plus the weight of the trailer puts you over the 10,000 lb limit.
Those steel toed flip flops make all the difference😂😂😂😂😂 gosh she catches on fast, I would have thrown myself out of it 4x😅, I guess that’s y they put doors on them
Did you know you shouldn't be digging with the final drives unless you're on a hill and using the blade to keep your level The blade will keep you from rocking
Not bad for a 30 year old machine. With a bit of care it will last you a life time. I would put a thumb on her for sure. Thee twin sticks are a strange critter to run unless you ran really old iron. That bar in the cab goes on the boom for transport on the trailer.
theres a button in the cab to locks out the of set of that's what the locking bars or it then gives you hammer function we had similar on one of our old machines
Try turning around and using the blade for stabilization while digging.
and when pushing a tree over put the blade behind you

Yes. It’s the boom lock. That boom swivels also separate from the cab, it’s for long transit.
I was going to say the same. :)

Good job on her, she should be proud of her self, I hope to one day rent one to get my yard back under control, you got a great deal on that machine.

Good start. I can’t believe the seat is in such good shape

Looks like you got yourself a nice machine! 💯👍🏻Few more hours of use and your lady will be taking over that mini! 😊
Nice little machine, Dave. Good buy 👍🏻
You usually have the blade on the side your digging from, with it pushed into the ground for stability.
Great Addition to your Tools.👍

Nice machine you got there.👍🏻
that bucket coupler is a wayne roy, just like it says on the bucket. measure the release pin to know if you have a mini size or backhoe.

Congrats on ur newest equipment/John Deer model 50. remember to use the front blade when u pick-up stuff.

I think that thing on the back was there to protect the exhaust from branches and things when you’re swinging the machine around! ???🤔
That metal bracket could have been there for mounting an exhaust extension pipe or scrubber hose for using the machine inside a building.
I think the metal is to protect the exhaust while I'm the brush while turning . How much roughly is a good deal for this machine?
Your girlfriend has more first-time skill than many men that claim to know what their doing !
Vevor makes a weld on mechanical thumb. I hear the price is reasonable.
Seems like a good old machine you picked up there
Must be reading my mind! No more than wrote it than you did it.
nice machine good deal

10,000 is the trailer capacity after you subtract the weight of the trailer it’s got two 7k axles
Okay. I was thinking of the CDL limits.
She's a natural, hire her!...😅
Any girl excited about running an excavator is a keeper in my book :)
Awesome 😎 😊😊😊
Do some research on getting a hydraulic thumb. Game changer for the machine.
Get yourself a thumb for that machine Dave.
it's your exhaust pipe protector from tree branches etc.
That bucket you have there is called a tag bucket
Dig over the blade not drive motors

Morning dave
So you wanna change the oil and not the air filter?
Sounds weird
turn your machine around, the blade is on the front. You'll have more pulling power and you wont be digging over your drive motors.
well thats an other one to paint dave
This machine looks exactly like a Yanmar b50

Now for a thumb lol
Looks a good digger I am thinking on getting a we Pel-job excavator for cleaning drains and other projects that's a good size digger
Yanmar did a lot for JD including tractors.
👍👍👍
Get the blade to the front and put it down for digging
Did over your blade and idler wheels
Will you sell the backhoe now?
No it’s to useful to have around
@@TheMechanicDavehaving a such a powerful loader like that backhoe has is too important and that’s way too nice of a backhoe just to replaced
Wrong bolts placed back in hte hydraulic tank larger cover
I don't believe that lady never operated an excavator before, I've seen terrible guys operate Machinery, she's smooth
They're mechanical
