As a person who used to work at the Royal Palace of Madrid as a tour guide (and being a former G.R.) It is actually the largest royal palace in Europe, containing 135,000 m² of floor space and 3,418 rooms.

I wonder if you may know, are the Rubens portraits of Philip IV and Queen Isabel on display in any of the public rooms?

What other rooms are included in the count, in order to reach 3,418 rooms? Storage rooms, attics or broom closets are also included?

I’ve been to several royal palaces in Europe. Hands down the one in Madrid is the grandest!

My understanding is photographing is often banned in stately homes and palaces when there is a risk that flash photography will damage art works and occasionally material or furniture. It's easier to ban photography rather than try to explain to each guest to turn the flash off.
Great video, loved the tour. 10 out of 10.

Yeah! I get it. This one was weird because 1/2 of the tour was okay and 1/2 wasn't. lol

Hay otra salsa en España, que vá mejor con el bocadillo de calamares que la MAYONESA, y es el AJIOLI , porque lleva ajo y le dá un toque de picante suave

On our visit to the palace yesterday, at the throne room, the old lady guard allowed a 'white tourist family to take pictures and even jump over the corded area. We (Asian couple) tried to take a selfie and the lady got mad. We tried to ask politely, and she just ignored us and pointed us to leave the room. Approve all visitor or no one.... she made it look like a race thing.

You should have reported that incident. In every public space in Spain wich is open to visit as well as bars, resturants, hotels, hospitals... there is a Book of Complaints which is very seriously taken by authorities.

I'd also love to replicate one of these rooms, but if good materials aren't used, the results could be poor. I'll do my best :)

I could take pictures of Westminster Abbey. To not be able to take a photo of the tomb of Queen Elizabeth I is a shame. Lots of things you can’t take photos of. They want you to buy pictures and post cards. $$$$$$$.
