  • The goal is not to become famous for my sculptures haha. This project serves more as a strong pillar in my life. It is something i can put my focus and time into, and i hope it will take me places
I hope you liked the first video in this new series. Feedback is always appreciated!

The expression on that pup's face is simply wonderful. It reminds me of the expressions on the faces of the dogs I have had over the years and that pup's face is not out of the ordinary. It brings a lot of memories back of my dogs. My Westie, Dougal, used to sleep on top of the back of an armchair; he always liked being high up. One day he ran across the living room floor and in two jumps he was up in his favourite spot and settled in to enjoy the sunshine. He lay back, rolled over then fell off...he got right back on top of the chair again. Dougal was never scared of anything lol.

It turned out beautifully Jonas! You made the right decision not too put too much detail all over, the piece would look too busy. I often make a rough little clay model to help me see how one section flows into another. I am so looking forward to seeing more of your brilliant work this year. In my mind you are already famous!

Jonas. your videos are an amazing discovery. I love what you are doing. One piece of advice, stop asking for advice... the magic of watching you do this, learn this, figure out how to do this your way, IS the magic. You are definitely on the path to success. Neither you, nor we, can tell you what that success will be, but you are a real person, pursuing something, primarily with their own drive, determination, inspiration and integrity. That is enough, just do it the way if feels right to you. This is magic. Thank you for inviting us along...

I think it turned out perfect. Though I originally thought the more detail would be cool, you stopped with the right amount of detail. At the end of the year, when you are more famous, you can sell copies of your sketches in a book or as prints. Awesome work Jonas!

Thank you! Yes i guess i could do that, But i would honestly like to create a free archive of designs on my website. I just think it is a very valuable for people to be able to do something creative. Im sure i will get rewarded for it in some way if i do it that way.

Great project and great video! Put please, let us see more handsanding next time, it’s my favourite part about woodworking.
Edit: by the way, I love the color of the nose. The brighter part of the wood is perfectly placed.

Amazing work 👏👏👏👏 I personal opinion is that you are to hard on yourself. I’m very happy to see you back making videos keep it up my friend cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Thank you so much! Too hard on myself? Perhaps, But it is very important for me to find meaning in life and i do it by exploring what i am capable of. But perhaps i should alternate between "Tricky" projects and projects i am more confident with.
Side note: I am very fascinated with Canadian wilderness. I have been watching a ton of tv shows of explorers being there and its my favourite thing to watch.

    J,
Thank you for sharing yourself with us. Your videos and commentary are so wonderfully educational. Your ability and vision to create is a “gift” that we get to enjoy. The wolf pup is beautiful. I am looking forward to your next project and many more after…
Thank you for sharing your “safety” comments regarding wood dust exposure. I have been diligent in wearing an N-95 dust mask, but I think moving toward a better fitting (canister style) respirator is best. I did build a dust capture system from shop vacuums that works pretty well, but fine dust still gets all over my small shop.
By the way, I think you will be “most famous” for how you communicate your creativity.
The beauty of your art is inspirational!

@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft I was just able to finish watching the whole video! I really enjoyed the whole thing, but I very much liked the part where you explain your process. I don't think it's too much detail at all, as someone who's trying to improve at woodworking it is SO helpful to hear the thought process from an artist detailing how they go from idea to finished sculpture. Please keep that in your videos! I like how brightly lit the videos are, and how I can see the different bits for your Dremel on each step. I would love to hear how you decide which bit for which part! And the ski video in the beginning was hilarious 🤣🤣. I've never tried skiing, makes me want to try.
I love the process! Keep creating, everything you share helps me in my creative journey as well, and I'm sure countless others!

Hey and thank you! I have the same problem. I have ordered many different cheap ones from ebay just to test them out. The ones i used for the fur is called Wolfram carbide burrs. i bought them off of fruugo.com.
