Summary: Algeria 1881. Two men, Michael Denning and Hector Servadac are having a duel with one another when a comet goes past the earth at low altitude. The strong wind this creates transports the two men to the moon. They find themselves in a jungle inhabited by reptiles and prehistoric humans. They have a difficult time before they manage to adapt to the dangers, but eventually they each find a girl to spend time with, awaiting the next return of the comet to take them back to Earth.

Of course, the opening section of "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) is notable and, now that I think about, could serve as more of a commentary on how human society developed than as an explanation for the evolution that followed. In at least its first couple of seasons, the British TV series "Primeval" (2007-2011) had some very interesting scenes in prehistoric (and posthistoric) times.

Another in the Ed Wood mode of movie making; steal scenes from other movies to make your own film. Surprised we didn't get a giant rubber octopus and paper plate flying saucers. Best prehistoric movie? ONE MILLION YEARS BC ( 1968). For some strange reason, folks who make dinosaur movies just can't help putting giant spiders in them.

I suppose that it was implied that the character couldn't find the North Star in the absence of the presence of the Big Dipper/Little Dipper. The sky looked incredibly dense with stars, with no noticeable constellations. I'll bet your dad can verify this. Otherwise - nice review! I'm watching the movie on Tubi as we speak.
