Rex Smith and Laura Branigan made it a duet of duets for "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)". Rex Smith gave the 1982-1983 season of "Solid Gold" a certain level of energy with co-host Marilyn McCoo and in performances with guest artists, such as in this video. Laura was a beautiful singer who left this world much too early. It would nice for her to still be among the living. When news reports in August 2004 mentioned her death at the age of 47, it seemed so unreal and unfair. Thanks, Michael, for bringing this performance new life in so many ways.
@@bigeyezzzzzzz I am glad that they still evoke that kind of positive emotion, as I am only returning the favor that your show and its iconic theme song has done for me, in better personal times and, especially lately, difficult personal times, in which your recent uploads have helped balance more with positivity.
Thank you so much for posting these, Michael. These are making me so nostalgic. And 2 of my all time favorite singers. These videos are so appreciated!
Season 3 of Solid Gold. Air Date Saturday March 26th 1983. Co-host REX SMITH and guest star LAURA BRANIGAN singing "SEPARATE WAYS" by Journey. Special tribute for LAURA BRANIGAN one of greatest singers back in 80's. She passed away in summer 2004.
Hey, you got Joe Pizzulo again! That's marvelous. Can't go too wrong with him. I would've gotten Steve Perry and Laura Branigan to duet, and a DJ like Dick Clark to host, but Dick was busy with Bandstand, and it'd be a waste of Rex Smith. (Although, come to think of it, Street Hawk was pretty close. I don't think he sang on that show.)
Rex smith is goodlooking. Laura branigan was very talented. I feel rex is trying to hard to becoming a star. I probably would have the same reaction. Ryan r
Great duet!!
These videos of her on solid gold are priceless ❤️

Rex Smith dose an awesome job you can feel his soul and the pain . I love it !
The raw tones of Rex’s voice and soulful melody speak volumes about the togetherness of relationships.Laura softens the rawness. Thank you.
