  • @MFEGoingDeep a new location for myself this week visiting Craig Pond in Orland. This beautiful gem of a pond is the watersource for Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery, which makes sense after visiting and seeing the clean clear water here. One thing I really found unique was the brilliant blue shade of the water, something you would think would be really common but something I have rarely seen, at least in this shade of color. I ventured down the pond away from the public beach and boat launch to an area with high cliffs and large granite boulders in the water and explored there. Over the submerged weed beds it looked to be plentiful with sticklebacks, there are 3 spine and 9 spine and I can’t say for sure if it was one or the other or both present. I kept waiting for a larger gamefish to dart in and grab one of these but unfortunately didn’t happen this day. Lots of sunfish and also quite a few tadpoles in some deeper water which I would’ve thought they’d prefer staying in the shallows. Definitely a unique looking and interesting environment to explore and a very picturesque location to visit!
If you haven’t subscribed to the channel yet I would greatly appreciate your support and as always thanks for watching! 👍🐟
