The configuration settings for the X-plorer in this video are sub-par and semi-functional. No offense. After many hours of tweaking I got it just right. For anyone else wanting to use a 360 X-plorer in RB2Dx, use these steps to get it perfect. Part 1, Calibration Open Control Panel. Under the Hardware and Sound category, select View devices and printers. Right-click on Guitar Hero X-plorer and select Game Controller settings. In the window that open, select Guitar Hero Xplorer again and then click properties. In the properties window go to the Settings tab. It is important now to be holding the guitar at a 45 degree angle, that is half way between a level neck and full tilt. While holding the guitar at this angle, press Calibrate. Click next on the dpad screen with no buttons held, press the whammy fully on the slider screen, release it, then press next. On the tilt screen, move the guitar to the full tilt position then press next. This gives the tilt a range from 45 degrees to full tilt. This is important for star power to activate correctly. Part 2, Custom config In RPCS3, right click on Rock Band 2 and select Change Custom Gamepad Configuration. Start by setting the Handler to MMJoystick (Xinput wont listen to the calibration of the last step). Set the Device Class to Guitar > Rock Band (Using Guitar Hero class with force you to chose between a functioning tilt and select button). Once in this mode, click filter noise and manually set the following keys: Cross: Green Fret Circle: Red Fret Triangle: Yellow Fret Square: Blue Fret L1: Orange Fret Start: Start Select: Select Set the deadzones on your sticks to none and press save. Part 3: Manual edits Navigate to your RPCS3 root folder. Navigate through Config > Input_Configs > BLUS30147. Open the Default.yml file in notepad or any other text editor. We will be blanking out some inputs (Set it to two quotation marks with nothing between them) and moving around a couple more. Under Player 1 inputs, make the following edits: L2: "" -This prevents the activation of solo frets during solos. It is 100% effect where as the threshold method in the video is not. Left Stick Down: "" -This prevents a duplicate input error in RPCS3 R1: R+ -This sets R1 to tilt, for activating star power. This is why we had to chose the Rock Band class instead of Guitar Hero. Right Stick Up: "" -This prevents a duplicate input error in RPCS3 and prevents tilt from trying to select an effect. Right Stick Down: Y- -This floors the selector switch, setting it to None. If you do not do this, the selector switch will default to Echo and will apply an effect to solos and whammy. Save the file and exit. With these setting the guitar should behave exactly as you would expect it to with no "over-fretting" drops in solos, no effects applies, and working star power and select button simultaneously.
Bro I literally almost DM'd you on Twitter trying to figure this out earlier today before I figured it out myself, good shit with all the Tutorials brother.
Ive been playing Rock Band 2 for almost a year now, I use a rock band one wired strat and i thought the emulator just made the normal frets solo buttons and theres nothing i can do about it, glad you showed the fix to that
when doing solos or songs like pinball wizard with constant strumming I was missing notes I felt like I shouldn't be missing. Thought it was the calibration but after watching this vid and changing the trigger threshold it actually fixed my problem and now i'm hitting notes. thanks.
First of all, amazing tutorial, I actually got my wireless RB4 guitar to worked using Vjoy and being able to connect to RB2. My biggest problem though is that my guitar doesn’t hit some of the notes when It supposed too even though it’s calibrate it and on sync. It’s in MMJoystick and trigger thresholds are all down, so if anyone can help me, that’ll be great because that’s the only problem I’m stuck with. Thank You 👍🏽
how did u get it to work i been trying to get my rb4 guitar to work so i can map the buttons on rcps3 but it wont detect it at all but in the game buttons work but they are mapped wrong
the solution i came up with for the tilt on xplorer guitars is to map the select button to RS Y+ and then adjust the analog stick deadzone to the far right until the tilt feels just right, not too light, not too heavy, sadly this affects the deadzone for the whammy bar too but it's not a dealbraker for me, at least i have star power, so yeah.
I have been playing with this and what I found is that it works better to set the xplorer as a rock band guitar, blank out the inputs for L2, Right Stick Up and Right Stick Down and set star power (RSY+) to R1 with the dead zones on the sticks as zero. This will have everything working correctly with the caveat that you need to dip your guitar down below level before raising it up for star power to activate. EDIT: If you go in to windows and calibrate the tilt to only register between level and vertical (ie, never go below level in calibration) then it works perfectly. EDIT2: See my other post for a tutorial on how to get Xplorer's perfect in RB2Dx.
That explains my solo buttons question lol then again I remember how it was easy to use and I didn't feel good about it so I think it's best to leave solo buttons else where.
