Seeing Zack saying “It’s Morphin Time” was EVERYTHING! As a black kid growing up seeing a black ranger (no pun intended lol) I appreciated the representation and he has always been my favorite.
I'm sure they'll have something for Thuy and JDF. But I hope not only the other MMPR actors like Axelrod, Manahan, and Genelle, I hope they include actors from other seasons, especially Pua Magasiva. It's easy to focus on MMPR, but for the 30th anniversary of the franchise, we need to pay respect to all those we've lost.
I count this as a blessing too 🙏 I would like to say.....THANK YOU POWER RANGERS for giving us the fans one more time of our childhood memories P.S. once and always a fan stay true to yourself let the power protect you and others as well
Billy and Trini were my favorites as a kid, so I am glad to see Billy playing a major roll and the tribute to Trini. It’s going to be really nice to see everyone else who makes an appearance as well. For me, I followed the series until there was a clear break and then I watched most of Dino Thunder long after it aired. I also saw a lot of a couple other seasons and hit in miss on others, plus any episode I knew of with a original team cameo. Eventually I would like to watch everything I haven’t seen and I did recently get a boxset that goes through alien rangers. I haven’t gotten around to watching it since I bought it, but this sounds like a good time to start. Go go, Power Rangers!

I'm new PR, I've enjoyed watching MMPR on Netflix over the past several months, I think it's neat that Trini gets to make a noble sacrifice to save Billy. Maybe it's just me but it felt like Trini was Billy's best friend. She understood him and his techno babble, she always had his back, he always tried to help her with his inventions, and they always seemed to be hanging out together. I really got the vibe that they had been friends the longest of the original team. Honestly, it's the best tribute to the character I can think of, to have her make the ultimate sacrifice to protect him one last time.
Actually, yeah, that fits well. Trini was Billy’s…pseudo equal when it came to technology and intelligence (billy made a flying car in his garage, you can’t top that). She was often the first to back him up and be his pal. So it does make sense she’d be the one to make the sacrifice for him.
Yeah, in the Shattered Grid comics, Trini was helping Billy in modifying the Zords. That said, It might be just me, but when the daughter was talking about how Rita killed Trini, she said to Zack "She killed mom!", and not "She killed my mom" which implies to me that Zack and Trini are married.
Let’s also appreciate the fact that Ron Wasserman is back to do the music for this special. This is going to be one hell of a nostalgic ride for all of us 90’s babies.
There were other sentai shows where a cast member was replaced by killing off the original, almost always by noble sacrifice. In Bioman, funny enough, it's also the Yellow member of the team.
Sentai, yes. That's because Japanese censors aren't as strict for their TV shows. Even Burai, the basis of the original Green Ranger, died in Zyuranger. But Power Rangers is different. It's been censoring death and murder heavily since The first episode. They usually use other words, like "destroy," or a ranger loses their powers, or they leave the team, etc. Think Pokémon, Japan Vs. US. Think of all the phrases they changed and how many guns they cut out. Same basic principle.
I’m glad that Zack and Billy are getting the lead. We’ve seen plenty of reunions with others, I’m glad we get to see a different perspective. Also hope we see more of this with other older cast members
Not only is it awesome it's completely in charachter for both. Zack was always second in command when Jason was'nt around and same for Billy for Tommy.
To be fair, Zach was always the first in the morphin call. Also glad the Megazord still looks like the original. A lot of times you see toys or CGI models that try to look more 'sleek', slimmed down, but that shot looks like it still has the proportions of the original suit.
@@TheoRae8289 Exactly, that's part of the charm. I don't HATE them using CGI to do things they can't do otherwise, but they have to make the Megazords LOOK like Megazords.
When I first saw the trailer I was kind of dissappointed about Amy Jo and Austin not being in the movie, but seeing David and Walter (two people who haven't had a single opportunity to cameo in later PR seasons, and David specially being technically forced to quit) coming back for this special really warmed my heart and made me super happy. I can't wait for the premiere! ❤ (Oh, and btw: before anyone comes with know-it-all comments: yes, I know that Amy did get to an agreement and Austin can't leave the US. Thanks.)

I am so far beyond excited for this! While I would watch the series on Saturday mornings, most of the hours I logged were spent watching the movies. I've been thinking for a few years that I'd like to go back and watch the series at least through Turbo, and I think this special is what's finally gonna get me to commit.
I'm curious how they handle Tommy. You see the green ranger briefly, and while I know JDF didn't come back for the special, it was filmed before his passing. So I hope not only will this pay tribute to Trini but to Tommy as well. Either way, im real excited
6:18 - Everyone forgets that Zack was Jason's second-in-command before Tommy took over as White Ranger. So it makes sense that Zack is the leader in this incident.
Great trailer, I'm excited. What will really take this over the top is if they incorporate those Ron Wasserman songs like "Fight," "5-4-1," "Go Green Ranger Go," "We Need a Hero," "Combat," etc. I know they can't use them all in an hour-long special, but some would be nice. People underestimate how those anthemic, rock-driven themes elevated not only the fight sequences but the series as a whole. They really made MMPR stand out & why I think shows like Beetleborgs & VR Troopers, while remembered, aren't as beloved as that era of Power Rangers. Wasserman gave the series a signature style, attitude, & energy on all cylinders. The generic superhero, Casio keyboard stuff they used in later seasons just couldn't hold a candle & that's part of why I tapped out. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to 'Once & Always!' 👍🏿
The only time I've checked back into power rangers was whenever they did a legacy episode where previous rangers returned. I've been hoping for Zack and Billy for so long and to get both of them is just the most amazing thing.
It's a small thing, but I'm so happy they gave Walter a special glove for his left hand, he always stood up for not hiding it behind a prosthetic, and to see that now with the suit since it's not using archive footage from Japan!
What stinks is that Netflix USED to have ALL SEASONS of Power Rangers until they were taken down a couple of years ago. You know the views for the series would've gone through the roof once this special drops. To my knowledge, I think Netflix still has the first 2 seasons of MMPR on there...maybe S3 but I don't remember because I haven't been on Netflix in months.

I do know I'd see an episode or two posted in my recommended tab but wow...doesn't matter since I got every season on DVD haha it was just the convince of having em all in one place and selecting a specific episode within seconds rather than taking out a disc, putting in another one, etc. should be grateful because growing up in the 90s we had to pray for reruns to watch classic episodes because back then they didn't put out full seasons of the show.

It’s like you said it’s the thing that all of us who grew up with MMPR have always wanted to happen! I would love it if JDF kept one last secret and is actually a part of this as a surprise as the green ranger. Even if not everything we know we’re getting looks amazing and I can’t wait!
One thing expect if get a Bulk and Skull cameo. I can see one of them talking about Ernie left them the Juice the bar. He did watch the duo grow and mature.
So the scene of Zack yelling It's Morphin' Time, which is unquestionably awesome, also got me thinking. Is Rocky the only Red Ranger who was never technically team leader? Because I'm pretty sure Tommy was already taking over that role from Jason, or was about to by the time the new members came in. And even here it feels very much like Zack is leading the charge on things.
When Tommy became the White Ranger he was deemed team leader and that was when Jason, Zack and Trini were still on the team. So yeah Rocky was never team lead despite being a Red Ranger for a season and a half.
Seeing the two originals at the forefront is awesome! This will be the most watched episode of all time imo. The people who currently watch power rangers, plus the nostalgia seekers, and even the curious ones who just want to know what the hype is all about. Too bad my man Ivan isn’t making a cameo. He had style.
Nah, Zedd had Scrozzle build a new version, with all of her memories, so she could stop the Legendary Rangers getting in his way, as he tries to take over the universe, once and for all. It connects to Cosmic Fury, which Billy is in.

Let's hope that winds up being the case. The Dozier Family is working on keeping the next generation of Ranger fans going. If we all do our part Hasbro has the backing and money to be able to get this property large enough to complete with the biggies (star wars/marvel/ECT) they just need all of our support to remind em where to put all that money!!!! ❤
i really hope this leads to a MMPR direct sequel series with some of the rangers having kids, like trini, who take over as the ranger their parent was and a bunch of new kids. then often have rangers from other shows come in for a few episodes. MMPR was the best ranger show and i would love to go back to the setting in a "decades later" sense. also, have Bulk and Skull have kids who also become rangers.
@Theodore Wilson We don't fully know that yet. They could stop her before they do that. Even still Rita would have the green power coin at that point in time and retrieving it would indanger the timeline.

Yea but turtle cove doesnt even have any power rangers left at best only the yellow ranger still lives their as she is a soldeir their the animariam isnt their anymore it flewmoff the wild zords and even their morphers flew off with the animariam to sleep in the sky for eternity They would have to magicly find a flying invisible island wake uo a woman sleeping im water and make her wake the wild zords up to even get that to be usful and thats if its anywhere near the cove anymore as who knows how far away its flown at best they could get the yellow ranger ro fly her jet and find it she likely be able find the yellow eagle if she look8ng for her old friend but just seems like a no go place to list the turtle cove isnt very usful

Notice how Minh says "she killed mom" and not she killed my mom while she is looking at Zack. Is Zack the father? That would make a lot of sense if you follow the comics. In the comics, they are dating and have an adopted alien kid.

Why did I think this was just a documentary? LOL how WRONG I was and I'm glad I was! The thing that hangs over my head is if this is going to fit in canonically or is it just a separate universe thing? Because if we're holding onto the theory Rita's evil energy found a new body... could that mean Zordon is out there somewhere ready for a part two? Just a thought.
ill be honest they never explicitly explained where his energy ended up only that it was used to nullify the evil around the galaxy, could there maybe be a zordon cameo where he returns even if for the iconic "may the power protect you" line

I tapped out on Power Rangers after mystic force back in 08, but I'll tune in for this. The nostalgia is strong with this one 😁 ... also can I say DAMN Zack!!! 😍
Two things that stuck out to me were when Kat and Rocky teleported in, Alpha gave them their power coins. Then non relevant to the story, the lightning bolt in the O of the logo has changed to the Ranger Bolt.
Andre, over the past year I've been watching Super Sentai. Let me tell you that there are some seasons that I found WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the Power Ranger counterpart! Oh-Ranger > Zeo Gokaiger > Megaforce/Super Megaforce Some seasons are just so amazing that I can't say if they're better than Power Rangers but I love it just like the PR counterpart: Timeranger/Time Force, Ryusoulger/Dino Fury, Dekaranger/SPD I'd highly recommend checking out a few of these seasons when you find the time.
The slow tone of the theme. Yeah that got me 🥲 I can see that if we get a funeral scene for Trini 😔 damn I'm gonna need tissues for a few scenes man. I do expect to see Bulk and Skull. I mean it's gotta happen. The shocker will be if actually join into a fight. If have Tubi believe all the Sentai released via Shout are on it. From Jetman to Hurricanger. Jetman was the series just before ZYURANGER (what gave us mmpr) and is really highly respected. Believe it has a monster that has never been redone in another series. An evil cup of Ramen noodles.

First we got Goldar back in Beast Morphers, then Lord Zedd returning in Dino Fury, now we have Rita Repulsa returning in this film. Hasbro’s been on a roll bringing back the old MMPR villains recently.

I've been doing a full marathon of Power Rangers for a while now and let me tell you something. It's a loooot (but worth it). I even bought the MMPR Movie on DVD for this rewatch.

In the eyes on the fans, who forever incapsulated Thuy as Trini and still 30 years later still miss her and wish she could be here. Killing her off “on show” as Trini is the best way to honor her. We all know the real life story of Thuy, but she has always been the OG Yellow Ranger for us and we as fans know she can’t come back so this is such a beautiful way to further more cement Thuy as Trini and honoring the actress. We know the cast loved her and we as fans loved her, there is ZERO disrespect or insensitivity to killing her off. Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger!

In an episode of Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue there was a quick scene that showed a woman in the shadow world and looked almost like Rita. What if Zordon's energy wave separated evil from good? The good spirit became the Mystic Mother in Mystic Force.

When I first saw the trailer I was kind of dissappointed about Amy Jo and Austin not being in the movie, but seeing David and Walter (two people who haven't had a single opportunity to cameo in later PR seasons, and David specially being technically forced to quit) coming back for this special really warmed my heart and made me super happy. I can't wait for the premiere! ❤ (Oh, and btw: before anyone comes with know-it-all comments: yes, I know that Amy did get to an agreement and Austin can't leave the US. Thanks.)

I am so far beyond excited for this! While I would watch the series on Saturday mornings, most of the hours I logged were spent watching the movies. I've been thinking for a few years that I'd like to go back and watch the series at least through Turbo, and I think this special is what's finally gonna get me to commit.
Paul Schrier (Bulk) has been active through out the series,, including being a Ranger in Hyperforce, so him returning is a good chance.
I'm curious how they handle Tommy. You see the green ranger briefly, and while I know JDF didn't come back for the special, it was filmed before his passing. So I hope not only will this pay tribute to Trini but to Tommy as well. Either way, im real excited
6:18 - Everyone forgets that Zack was Jason's second-in-command before Tommy took over as White Ranger. So it makes sense that Zack is the leader in this incident.
Great trailer, I'm excited. What will really take this over the top is if they incorporate those Ron Wasserman songs like "Fight," "5-4-1," "Go Green Ranger Go," "We Need a Hero," "Combat," etc. I know they can't use them all in an hour-long special, but some would be nice.
People underestimate how those anthemic, rock-driven themes elevated not only the fight sequences but the series as a whole. They really made MMPR stand out & why I think shows like Beetleborgs & VR Troopers, while remembered, aren't as beloved as that era of Power Rangers. Wasserman gave the series a signature style, attitude, & energy on all cylinders.
The generic superhero, Casio keyboard stuff they used in later seasons just couldn't hold a candle & that's part of why I tapped out. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to 'Once & Always!' 👍🏿

The only time I've checked back into power rangers was whenever they did a legacy episode where previous rangers returned. I've been hoping for Zack and Billy for so long and to get both of them is just the most amazing thing.
It's a small thing, but I'm so happy they gave Walter a special glove for his left hand, he always stood up for not hiding it behind a prosthetic, and to see that now with the suit since it's not using archive footage from Japan!

What stinks is that Netflix USED to have ALL SEASONS of Power Rangers until they were taken down a couple of years ago. You know the views for the series would've gone through the roof once this special drops. To my knowledge, I think Netflix still has the first 2 seasons of MMPR on there...maybe S3 but I don't remember because I haven't been on Netflix in months.
All of the seasons are on RUclips now through Power Rangers official RUclips channel. But I agree, having them on Netflix was nice!

I do know I'd see an episode or two posted in my recommended tab but wow...doesn't matter since I got every season on DVD haha it was just the convince of having em all in one place and selecting a specific episode within seconds rather than taking out a disc, putting in another one, etc. should be grateful because growing up in the 90s we had to pray for reruns to watch classic episodes because back then they didn't put out full seasons of the show.
Currently believe just MMPR, Super Ninja Steel, Beast Morphers, and Dino Fury only ones I've come across.

It’s like you said it’s the thing that all of us who grew up with MMPR have always wanted to happen! I would love it if JDF kept one last secret and is actually a part of this as a surprise as the green ranger. Even if not everything we know we’re getting looks amazing and I can’t wait!

So the scene of Zack yelling It's Morphin' Time, which is unquestionably awesome, also got me thinking. Is Rocky the only Red Ranger who was never technically team leader? Because I'm pretty sure Tommy was already taking over that role from Jason, or was about to by the time the new members came in. And even here it feels very much like Zack is leading the charge on things.
There was some debate over who was the leader in Time Force between Pink and Red so your mileage may vary.

When Tommy became the White Ranger he was deemed team leader and that was when Jason, Zack and Trini were still on the team. So yeah Rocky was never team lead despite being a Red Ranger for a season and a half.

Nah, Zedd had Scrozzle build a new version, with all of her memories, so she could stop the Legendary Rangers getting in his way, as he tries to take over the universe, once and for all. It connects to Cosmic Fury, which Billy is in.

Let's hope that winds up being the case. The Dozier Family is working on keeping the next generation of Ranger fans going. If we all do our part Hasbro has the backing and money to be able to get this property large enough to complete with the biggies (star wars/marvel/ECT) they just need all of our support to remind em where to put all that money!!!! ❤
i really hope this leads to a MMPR direct sequel series with some of the rangers having kids, like trini, who take over as the ranger their parent was and a bunch of new kids. then often have rangers from other shows come in for a few episodes. MMPR was the best ranger show and i would love to go back to the setting in a "decades later" sense.
also, have Bulk and Skull have kids who also become rangers.
The one thing I would like to see.. Zach wielding the dragon dagger, the gold chest plate and commanding the Dragonzord

Yea but turtle cove doesnt even have any power rangers left at best only the yellow ranger still lives their as she is a soldeir their the animariam isnt their anymore it flewmoff the wild zords and even their morphers flew off with the animariam to sleep in the sky for eternity They would have to magicly find a flying invisible island wake uo a woman sleeping im water and make her wake the wild zords up to even get that to be usful and thats if its anywhere near the cove anymore as who knows how far away its flown at best they could get the yellow ranger ro fly her jet and find it she likely be able find the yellow eagle if she look8ng for her old friend but just seems like a no go place to list the turtle cove isnt very usful

Why did I think this was just a documentary? LOL how WRONG I was and I'm glad I was! The thing that hangs over my head is if this is going to fit in canonically or is it just a separate universe thing? Because if we're holding onto the theory Rita's evil energy found a new body... could that mean Zordon is out there somewhere ready for a part two? Just a thought.

Two things that stuck out to me were when Kat and Rocky teleported in, Alpha gave them their power coins. Then non relevant to the story, the lightning bolt in the O of the logo has changed to the Ranger Bolt.
Lord Zed got super lonely, had to build a robot body for his Bae.

Andre, over the past year I've been watching Super Sentai. Let me tell you that there are some seasons that I found WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than the Power Ranger counterpart!
Oh-Ranger > Zeo
Gokaiger > Megaforce/Super Megaforce
Some seasons are just so amazing that I can't say if they're better than Power Rangers but I love it just like the PR counterpart: Timeranger/Time Force, Ryusoulger/Dino Fury, Dekaranger/SPD
I'd highly recommend checking out a few of these seasons when you find the time.
The slow tone of the theme. Yeah that got me 🥲 I can see that if we get a funeral scene for Trini 😔 damn I'm gonna need tissues for a few scenes man.
I do expect to see Bulk and Skull. I mean it's gotta happen. The shocker will be if actually join into a fight.
If have Tubi believe all the Sentai released via Shout are on it. From Jetman to Hurricanger. Jetman was the series just before ZYURANGER (what gave us mmpr) and is really highly respected. Believe it has a monster that has never been redone in another series. An evil cup of Ramen noodles.

Maybe I'll be the only one, but one small thing I'd really love to see is when the Megazord forms we get the "Megazord sequence has been initiated!" I always loved that.
I'm guessing Trini's daughter is gonna end up as the new Yellow down the line, since the Saber-tooth Tiger Zord seems still active but that might be me thinking out loud.
First we got Goldar back in Beast Morphers, then Lord Zedd returning in Dino Fury, now we have Rita Repulsa returning in this film.
Hasbro’s been on a roll bringing back the old MMPR villains recently.
What was the point in zordons sacrifice, might as well bring him back too. Hoping that’s just a robotic version and not actually Rita herself.

In the eyes on the fans, who forever incapsulated Thuy as Trini and still 30 years later still miss her and wish she could be here. Killing her off “on show” as Trini is the best way to honor her. We all know the real life story of Thuy, but she has always been the OG Yellow Ranger for us and we as fans know she can’t come back so this is such a beautiful way to further more cement Thuy as Trini and honoring the actress.
We know the cast loved her and we as fans loved her, there is ZERO disrespect or insensitivity to killing her off. Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger!
