Camera control, change it to double tap… that has made it at least nice to catch photos quicker… I have young kids…. Screen is a bit more immersive… but I realized the 15 pro max was the best size…. Finding just the right case for the 16 pro max has been a battle.
Last year, I had the 15pm, but this year I chose the 16pro. I can point out that at this time last year, my battery capacity was at 97%, whereas the 16pro is now at 100%. The battery life is essentially comparable to that of the 15pm. I can genuinely say I have no regrets, and it feels like an upgrade in my view. I could keep listing the advantages,
I upgraded from a 14 Pro for two things: better megapixels and Apple Intelligence in the works, and this is because I’m an enthusiast. I have 35 years of IT under the belly. As for the new camera button, unless you are a pro photographer, it will do strictly nothing new for you. I think the new button is better with a tripod. On the fly, keep using the screen. Thinking about it, I hope my tripod head will not interfere with the new button… Edit: I attached my new iPhone to my existing bracket and guess what: the brackets are overlapping the new button. I’ll have to get a new bracket or abandon using the new button (which is not that useful after all).
I just have a base iphone 15 (bought it bcoz I really like the pastel green color) and I feel like I can use this for 5 years. I do not really see a point in upgrading every 2-3 years. Although I also have a Z Fold 6 which means I have two phones.

I went from 15 pro to 16 pro max because the battery health tanked and I broke the volume button. I just sold it and put that towards the 16 and all I notice is the battery life and bigger screen. If I went from the 15 pro max to 16 pro max it would've been the same exact phone in my opinion. I had to even avoid the natural color since it was a clone of the 15 pro max if I did. Would this be a significant upgrade from the iPhone 12? I don’t like the over sharpening. Thoughts and opinions if an iPhone 12 to iPhone 15 pro max is a significant upgrade? Or should I hold off for longer another year or 2? Thank you!
I was using the Pro Max line since iPhone 12 series. The reality, I always tried the Pro, but would either be short feature wise of battery wise. I needed a iPhone that with my style of use lasts at least a day. I don't have a chance to recharge all the time. With iPhone 15, me as camera centric on phone, the 5x lens was the argument for the 15PM over the 15P. I went with the 16PM as it features the new wide angle sensors and some new cam features. What at the day of launch i did not look at was the battery life. Today after watching several tests, I realized that the 16P appears to have the same battery life as the 15PM with which I was satisfied with. This made me get a 16P for testing the next 14 days if this holds true for me. Given the fact that the 16P does have the 5x lens, and feature wise its all identical, i could think of downsizing for the first time in years. The other nag i did miss when i got the 16PM was the storage. I did not pay attention that I am running out of storage and even having optimized storage, 256gb came to an end on monday 😞 SO the 16P is having 512. Thats the first time in decades I use more than 256gb. Worse, my IpadPo M4 has to be changed to, 256gb is short there too. double trouble.
First time I have not gone with my 2 yearly upgrade cycle. Just can't see enough improvement from my 14 Pro. My provider has clearly clicked onto my delay and offering me better and better deals on a weekly basis so clearly they are underselling the iPhone 16 Pro and desperate to clear their stock! I'll wait for the 17 Pro.
As someone who need to upgrade, to a newer iPhone, I’m not sure, if I should go with iPhone 15, iPhone Pro, or the previous model… nice video. I hate the camera button…
I swear I never used the camera control button since I purchased my 16 Pro at launch I think the battery is the best upgrade on the 16 Pro, huge difference from my previous 15 pro
The best upgrade this year to me is the regular iPhone 16! it smaller, lighter, cheaper and have the same processor generation than 16 Pro. Love this phone!
8:53 "apple cant legally throttle these older iphones anymore" ACTUALLY they still can, but they have to be transparent about it and say they're doing it
Honestly if they don’t change the design, then it rarely worth upgrading. Unless you just have disposable income. Most would not immediately run and purchase a new car for a mid cycle refresh.
My 13pro is still going strong with 89% battery health remaining. Apple will need to come up with something really profoundly world changing for me to upgrade.
Upgraded from a 14 Pro via ATT Costco which came out to $100 plus tax so it was a total upgrade for me. Oh, I also got a $50 ATT credit and a $100 Costco gift card so I would say in my case it was a total win.
Hello, cool video, but I just wanted to notice as a French viewer (and even tho I can understand English and I’m not dependent from that feature), the Audio Language in text-to-speech/AI style sounds horrible. Maybe it’s not disruptive on a single video, but in long term I don’t think that it would be a benefit for you.
I went from an iPhone X to a 15 Pro, the only differences I notice is the 120hz, better battery (obviously) & camera improvements. Other than that it’s the exact same. I just wanted a comparable size and they’re almost identical in size. Never understood how or why people upgrade so frequently.
Like the other person said it is worth it to upgrade because coming from an 11 series to 15 or 16 series is a big jump and you will notice the differences and all the new features, unlike coming from 14 or 15 to a 16
I went from 12 pro max to 16 pro max and I’m enjoying it a lot. Especially since my old phone’s performance kept getting worse (probably because of combination of degraded battery life and full storage and IOS18) so if it’s the same for you, it will definitely be a big upgrade
Only reason to upgrade is the flush screen no bezels and better cpu, I have the 14 Pro Max but won’t be upgrading anytime soon until the 17 comes out and I get the 16 Pro Max becomes cheaper.
The camera control BUTTON would provide zero benefits to my life. I could not agree more. I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max a little over a month ago and I have absolutely no regrets. On a positive side my girlfriend has the iPhone 13 and plans to upgrade to the iPhone 16. Of course it’s a great phone and worth the upgrade depending on where you’re coming from, but if my girlfriend wants to buy the 15 or even the 15 pro, I don’t think that would be a regretted buy either.
I always say that "last year's phone" - whatever it is - is the best thing to upgrade to for the price. And considering the 16/16 Pro don't have much new thats useful, the 15 Pro is a great option
While I love having a camera button… almost everything about Apple’s implementation was poor. Position & usability are horrific. I hope there’s a big hardware revamp next year and Apple approaches the iPhone fresh. (I know they won’t)
Which phone should I upgrade from my replacement phone the Galaxy A54 5G, heres some options: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 pro, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy A35 5G, Motorola G Power 5G 2024, Motorola G Stylus 5G 2024, Motorola Edge 2024. Which should I get?
The iPhone has been excellent for years but has definitely grown stale. It badly needs a refresh but as long as sales are strong, Apple will play it safe with iterative updates.
Really whining about camera control unnecessarily. First, you can set it off and never have any problem. Second, you could just think of it like an action button to open your camera that you may rarely use, and you set it to double tap instead of single tap.

It's like no one actually has a clue what it takes to bring a phone to market, much less on a yearly schedule. Or any other tech for that matter. Ive already heard the discussion about iPhones being stale about Macs now. The new Mac isn't a good enough upgrade over whatever M Series we already have. Well, DUHHHHHHHHH. What rock are you living under people?
You absolutely nailed this review. I had a 15PM for 8 month's and loved it...then switched to a S24, after having a S24 Ultra, simultaneously as 15PM.

"At first I hated [Samsung S24]" = "It was a nuisance to relearn all of its screwy UI and less intuitive apps"
"Now I used it a few months and absolutely prefer Samsung lol" = "Yep, a Samsung 24 is 5 years newer than your iPhone 11. Apple is better but only about 1 year ahead."
"Decided to wait on the s25 ultra" = "Wow this is hardly any different than S24, screw this, next time I'm getting an iPhone!"

So we’re complaining because you need a new case? I chose to stick with my old 15 PM. Upgrading yearly is throwing my money away.
6.7 vs 6.9 is a big difference. you wont see the difference under the camera or while watching a review on youtube. You will notice when you have the phone in front of you. The camera button is nice. After a few minutes you get good with it. It is a really nice upgrade.
It has also a secure enclave for privacy ( microphone , camera, location ) on the 15 pro max , the enclave is software based. On the 16 pro and pro max, it is a hardware enclave.

If you’re from the iPhone 15 well of course it’s not worth it to upgrade to the 16. But if you’re from the iPhone x or 11! Then I think it will be better to Upgrade.
But like bro seriously for a normal person spending over $1000 is worth it on a Smartphone??

Keep the good work up Wade
My GF has the 8, so it’s more than worth the upgrade for her once I get it for her for Christmas

I can’t believe it even needs to be asked if somebody should upgrade from last years top of the line phone.
Always liked your tech reviews. I will be sticking to my 14 pro for now 👍🏼
whether a phone is “worth upgrading” always depends what phone you’re coming from.
if you’re asking if the newest phone is worth it, and your phone is last years, it is ALWAYS a no.
i’m coming from a 12pro. my
battery doesn’t even last 3 hours. it is worth it for me
If the battery health is what forces you to upgrade… then just go to a shop and replace it for a new healthy one for $60

Camera control, change it to double tap… that has made it at least nice to catch photos quicker… I have young kids…. Screen is a bit more immersive… but I realized the 15 pro max was the best size…. Finding just the right case for the 16 pro max has been a battle.
I’m in the future… iPhone 17 pro is not worth updating from the 16 pro. Just saved you another year and 💴
Apple will increase the battery capacity.
iPhone 17 is supposed to have the apple intelligence down pat and seamless. The 16 is just a money grab
Who in their right mind upgrades within 1 year
@ rich folks
How’s your battery holding up, I have the base 15 too and have to charge through the day
@@fasn279Got it October 20, 2023 and battery health is now at 94% with only 163 cycles. I was under the impression that rarely using and charging it will not deteriorate battery health. Still, it dropped to 94% which proves that battery really degrades overtime even if I rarely use it. To be fair, my brightness is fixed at 70% 24/7 and I never used auto brightness. This does not have a sim card though and I only use it at home for work (Slack, Basecamp, Outlook, etc) since my main is the Z Fold 6.
@@fasn279Not sure why my long response was not posted. But I have 94% health with only 163 cycles. Got this October 20, 2023 and I rarely use it. Based on the numbers, it just proves that rarely using/charging it will still deteriorate the battery. I have seen a 15 Pro Max with 99% health and around 150ish cycles. Probably bcoz I use a fixed 70% brightness (never a fan of auto brightness) but I only use this for work at home (Slack, Basecamp, Outlook). And this one does not have a sim card so this is wifi 24/7. So this one lasts me close to 2 days.

Probably will wait 3-5 years for some more radical changes
This is ridiculous. Nobody should be upgrading from a phone that’s a year old, that’s not who upgrades are aimed at though, it’s for those who own 13s and earlier. ‘Reviewers’ will be be coming out with don’t upgrade to iPhone 17 videos next year. These videos are basically long adverts.
Respect for giving answer right away. Like legit

2024 was the last year I could get $830 trade-in value on my 11 Pro Max. Next year drops to $400. I was ~~hella~~ smart to get 16 Pro Max for only $369. If I had kept it, I would have been a retard and had to pay $769 for the 17 Pro Max--assuming they don't up the price even more next year.
After watching tons of videos I saved myself some cash and got a 15 Pro Max instead. I don’t feel like I’ve lost out on anything.
So what was your phone before?
Your gonna regret it as soon as it starts over heating lol the thermals alone are a reason to upgrade

Who has a link for that wallpaper ?
I have an iPhone 12 but was thinking of upgrading to the iPhone 15 pro max or iPhone 16 pro max. However because of cost was thinking more of the iPhone 15 pro max. Would this be a significant upgrade from the iPhone 12? I find the iPhone 12 photos to be low contrast and washed out Also on the iPhone 12 the software is horrible for really over sharpening the photos so it looks very much like a painting rather than a photo if you know what I mean. I don’t like the over sharpening. Thoughts and opinions if an iPhone 12 to iPhone 15 pro max is a significant upgrade? Or should I hold off for longer another year or 2? Thank you!
I have the 15 pro max… I would wait until the 17 which should easily handle the apple intelligence software
i upgraded from 13p to 16p and the mute and camera buttons still confuse me after a month...
Whats the Base station showed in min 1:51?
The most honest review I've seen so far! 👍
Honestly I kind of regret upgrading from my 13 pro max to the 15 pro. I can only imagine the regret from the 15 to the 16.
As someone who need to upgrade, to a newer iPhone, I’m not sure, if I should go with iPhone 15, iPhone Pro, or the previous model… nice video. I hate the camera button…
Apple was able to bring the weight down on the 15 pro, but went back up on the 16 pro
Is this iPhone 16 pro or pro max please?

I have seen sever reviews of the iPhone 16 series & have decided to keep my iPhone 14 ProMax for another year. It does not impress me at all.
I have the white iPhone 15 pro max I don’t see any reason to upgrade to the iPhone 16 pro max
I swear I never used the camera control button since I purchased my 16 Pro at launch
I think the battery is the best upgrade on the 16 Pro, huge difference from my previous 15 pro
What if I have a iPhone 13?

The best upgrade this year to me is the regular iPhone 16! it smaller, lighter, cheaper and have the same processor generation than 16 Pro. Love this phone!
8:53 "apple cant legally throttle these older iphones anymore" ACTUALLY they still can, but they have to be transparent about it and say they're doing it
who in his right mind will upgrade from a 15 pro?
What about the 5x lens and battery life 😮 not life changing 😢
I think all of the phone companies need to quit pushing out phones every year. Call us when you've got something new!
😮 i wasn’t expecting that 🎉
Upgraded from a 14 Pro via ATT Costco which came out to $100 plus tax so it was a total upgrade for me.
I mean if youre coming from a 15 pro, ofc its not worth it lol
The camera button is so useless considering the phone has a touchscreen.
I have the iPhone 14 and it works fine for me . I’ll get the iPhone 16 in a couple of years probably
I went from an iPhone X to a 15 Pro, the only differences I notice is the 120hz, better battery (obviously) & camera improvements. Other than that it’s the exact same. I just wanted a comparable size and they’re almost identical in size. Never understood how or why people upgrade so frequently.

This sounds so stupid but iOS now feels like android did few years back and android now feels like iOS did a few years back
I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, is it worth upgrading from that to the 16 Pro?
Well in your case, since you have an old model, it's probably worth upgrading to either one, 15 or 16.
@@Jackkenway I’m only asking because since the new apps updated to the newest iOS they started lagging on my phone
@@Boofy95 Yep, that's normal, even your phone might do that too, at least that's what mine did, it was lagging like crazy until I got a new one.
Yes, I can the see the screen size difference
While I love having a camera button… almost everything about Apple’s implementation was poor. Position & usability are horrific. I hope there’s a big hardware revamp next year and Apple approaches the iPhone fresh. (I know they won’t)

I am seriously appalled at apple's lack of innovation as years go by. I have jumped ship finally.

Really whining about camera control unnecessarily. First, you can set it off and never have any problem. Second, you could just think of it like an action button to open your camera that you may rarely use, and you set it to double tap instead of single tap.
