AT&T recently dropped the hammer on Warner in general and their DC Comics subdivision in particular, which just might have been the division with the largest number of activists in the entire AT&T portfolio. That may signal the tide is turning, but before it did, Gina Carano already stood up to the crazies. For this, she was accused of being on the wrong side of history.
In this editorial, @AndreEinherjar will go though what Carano did, and why she is on the right side of history as well as the values of George Lucas’ original Star Wars.

This 100% has me looking at her in a different light as well as the character that she plays on the Mandalorian. I can't wait to see her again on the show and I can't wait for the new season to begin. There's no direct leader of the peaceful protests that keep getting escalated into riots due to policing being completely broken in the US. Since there is no direct leader, telling the movement what to do, I'd consider it a populist people's movement which is upset with the status quo of unequal rights between people of color and the poorest in the nation, vs the wealthiest who done give a fuck and take more for themselves and leave less and less for those at the bottom.
The requests of the movement are that of social and social spending reforms.. so it's truly a social Democratic movement.. but it's okay, call them Nazis... And the more we refuse to listen to this social Democratic movement, the more extreme people in it will become.
This type of movement gets out of hand in the US because we have a population that is terribly uneducated and don't understand Politics, and label things completely wrong and this leads to social unrest and NO progress.
The more the people fight legitimate social progress in this country the more extreme those who are fighting for it will become (Leninist-Marxist). The more extreme they become, the more those defending the status quo will warp it and mutate it to benifits themselves and punish others that don't fall in line and assimilate taking away their freedoms (fascism). That mutation, is fascism.

Once you've been touched by the criminal justice system, either working in it, convicted of a crime (in my case falsely) or found innocent of a crime, it changes your view. The way I have had it explained to me, many felt she was putting herself on a pedestal, comparing her refusal to embrace and endorse BLM with that German's refusal to salute Hitler. IF that were the case, I'd suggest she should not have done so. But everything I have seen from Gina in interviews and social media seems a rather positive, strong, genuine person who would not discriminate against anyone. The twitter mob is a raging lot that can turn on anyone from the left or the right in an instant.

I once told friends, who self-identified as SJWs, that I couldn’t be sure future generations wouldn’t look down on us for being bigoted against trans-racial people, since our culture’s reaction to Rachel Dolezal was exactly the same as our grandparents’ would have been to Caitlyn Jenner. It's a clever point, but you are glossing over some key differences:
1) Trans people claim to identify as a different gender but not a different biological sex. Dolezal was identifying as a different race but also claiming a biologically different ethnicity. This is called lying.
2) Dolezal's deception occurred in the context of a number of other scams she was running. Including filling what appear to be false reports of hate crimes, engaging in plagiarism, and defrauding social services. This feeds into the narrative that she was not genuinely "trans-racial" but rather engaged in an elaborate deception to further her own interests.
3) Finally, it is important to note that even among trans people the issue of a potentially siphoning funds away from services designed to support the needs of CIS women, is a much smaller threat (eg: maternity health services). In spite of this, this is still an area of active and unsettled debate in liberal communities. For transracial people, this is a much bigger problem and therefore is deserving of more scrutiny. Rachel Dolezal in particular has exploited resources reserved for the support of ethnic minority communities.
4) In spite of all the above, the backlash against Rachel Dolezal has been relatively mild and mostly justified. Any official punishment she received has generally been as a result of actual crimes or violations of policy that she committed, rather than specifically in response to her claimed trans-racial identity.
I do believe that in the future trans-racialism will be an accepted practice, as human race categories are mostly just made up concepts. However, this is likely not what Ms. Dolezal was doing.
Also, of COURSE these SJW types hate Gina. She's beautiful, in incredible physical shape, is a decent actor, and is popular. You know... everything they are not.

Undefeated in her Muay Thai Career, one of the pioneers of women's MMA, disgustingly disrespected in her first acting lead role, then to make it this far after years of acting classes/community theatre...such a amazing success was built from perseverance through a work ethic that those dummies that went after her can't even comprehend. The saying really makes no sense in a moral viewpoint. History is written by the winners. Had Germany won WW2, they would have been on the right side of history. To say one's group is 'one the right side of history' really seems more like an overconfident declaration of victory and not taking a moral high ground.

Funny, seeing her in the Mandalorian I thought: She really looks like a women that can kick major ass, unlike models like Daisy Riddley or what Tarantino likes to portray. That she is a former MMA fighter makes total sense. It is superficial and unrealistic that modern movies and TV shows always go for slender beauties when it comes to physically strong women.

The saying "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." makes it impossible for a "right side of history" to exist.
AGS363 I mean, being on the “right side of history” just means that when people look back on the events of the time, you were on the progressive side that came out ahead. Up to this point, the major instances where this was clearly true in America were things like the Civil War, Vietnam (where history has proven we were wrong to get involved,) Suffrage, Civil Rights, etc. There were people in opposition to all of those things and those people were, objectively, on the wrong side of history.
Also, that quote is only 12 years old and doesn’t really hold much water. In essence, it would mean that all men will eventually be corrupted, which at best might apply to the rich and powerful but largely, people are decent by nature. Generally, power corrupting only happens because the people in question were always kinda shit at their core and the power they gained allowed them more freedom to express that.

Some of the churches were full of decent folk, while children were being exploited by some priests? The armed forces are full of decent folk, yet there are always cases of sexual abuse or assault on female foreign nationals? An utopia is a mythical concept that has ruined every society that has destroyed the future and prosperity of its citizens in a desire to chase it. To give everyone the "total freedom" they want, is to give some the freedom to destroy the others, regardless of whether justification exists or not - because they will feel it's a moral imperative to destroy evil in any form (by their own interpretation, of course). It's been like that throughout history, both in mob rule (through social purges) and through "democratic governance" (and "legitimate targets"), and we have the body counts of both the guilty and the innocent regardless of real or perceived crime. Nothing has significantly changed to such a degree that it can't ever happen again, and if we are to move toward that mythical goalpost again, it will just end up another dark chapter in history all over again, in a different century and with a larger body count this time around. We will have learned nothing from history, even when anyone and everyone can study history now and can see this coming from a mile away. :/

I wasted four years of my life getting a BA in history. History is the objective study of past human events. Claiming you're on the "right side of history" is the essence of arrogance. It's like trying to say that you can predict the future. And as far as objective history goes, most people who made that claim before either died violently or found themselves in the midst of a dystopian failed state.
It doesn't make me see anything Star Wars related in a new light since I'm done with Star Wars. But it makes me thank God I don't waste my time on Twitter or any other social media platform.

I lived in Germany for seven years and if it was one thing I had a problem with it was Germany's attempt to erase their history while at the same time "teaching" it. Never understood the juxtaposition of what was in German text books verses making school kids visit a concentration camp. Do they still do that? I left Germany for the last time in 2010, but also lived there in the '80s.
If the germans had succeeded in their undertakings, none of you would have to whine about this stuff today because all of the marxists in europe would have been dealt with, and as such the problems of moderity would not have come to pass. Let’s not overlook Carano’s original post. The story behind the photo is that of a courageous man named August Landmesser. There he was surrounded by fanatical Nazis with the balls to show his utter contempt for Hitler and everything he stood for.
The irony of it is that Gina is now in the same position that Mr. Landmesser was in when this photo was taken. The people excoriating her are everyone else in the photo who are hailing with their arms raised. The parallels are uncanny. And I betcha that Ms. Carano is well aware of it. Unfortunately, these idiots, like those in the photo, are too stupid to realize they are being played like saps.
Strong women is what we need to stand up to the crazy women.

I really hate that because I believe in progressive values and social justice, I'm now lumped in with the outlier cases that are screaming at the top of their lungs on either side of the isles of politics.
My personal politics are very nuanced, and do not change due to mob mentality or peer pressure.
Also hate how all my favorite RUclipsr content creators are all on this bandwagon that's bashing the entire left for the actions of a small vocal majority and turning people away from legitimate ethical and moral reasoning that's on the level of Star Trek TNG etc.. which are shows these people love and defend...
Please comment with more caveats and a more nuanced view if you're going to do videos like this. You're turning people away from real moral issues, effectively desensitizing them to not care about others and logical things because of one word. SJW/Liberal/progressive.

I'm sure there are more, but they gotta find their courage to speak up. But a lot will find "fake courage" once it's socially okay to speak out, which is not courage at all. Courage is when you have every to lose and nothing to gain, except the right to disagree. I'm not seeing a lot of people in Hollywood ready to place their billion dollar lifestyles on the line for something like convictions, either for helping people, or for standing up against the toxicity in the worst of Hollywood studios and companies' "activist employees" who think they are on the "right side of history" by generally losing their %$#@ on Twitter on a regular basis. :/

I've been simping for Gina Carano since Haywire. A true bad ass!
I followed most of the drama with Gina pretty close and I was absolutely blown away with how she handled it. I don't think I've ever been more impressed with a celebrity handling the current culture.

I had no idea who Gina was when I started watching Mandalorian, but I thought she was great. I totally bought her as a ripped warrior chick who could hold her own against the men against her. We need to stop using the notseen comparison, the brown shirts etc. The better comparison is Twitter to Radio television libre des Milles Collines in Rwanda in the Early 90's. It is easier to find footage of the actual toll of this kind of dehumanising language, it's in colour and it is recent enough that you can walk in and still see the blood if you are so inclined (something for which I assure you I was not prepared on my visit). The survivors and perpetrators are still alive for the most part and it is harder to just dismiss as "over the top" hyperbole. With one of (if not the) top leaders being arrested recently I had hoped this would return to the news so people could be reminded about what the wrong side of history actually looks like to people involved.

I found a Newsweek article that talks about this. I’m still confused as to what caused the issue. She posted a picture of Nazis saluting but with the one person not saluting and said something about a love story. What is wrong with this? Who was mad at this?
Gina Carano is an incredible person, an amazing fighter, a pretty decent actress and all around badass. She has gained my respects. These SJWs are pathetic because Carano is standing against humantrafficking. How is she racist or any kind of -ist they say she is? These people are what's wrong with the world today. I believe in equal rights for everyone, regardless of race, gender or orientation, not one is above the other. That's what I believe in. I'm sure Gina believes the same thing. Gal Gadot is moderatly talented and hardly professional actress - yet she had accomplished something in her life and one can't deny that they care and put honest effort into what they are doing. They have idea for their lives and trying to accomplish something meaninfgul. Most can agree, both are also attractive. Both are apparently hated for two factors: NOT having victim mentality and actually having some measure of success.

Good points Andre. It does cast GC's character in a different light. Knowing Gina's effort level to achieve her fighting ability makes it much easier to think that her character in "The Mandalorian" took a similar path, and hence is NOT a Mary Sue.

I think in the largest sense, the best way to approach any topic that is divisive: disregard the extremes on both sides. Just tune them out, ignore them, and disavow them. Dont give them *any* power or recognition. The tiny percentage of 'voices' lost will not lessen the dialogue or remove anything constructive. What it *will* do is clear the air of poison and artificial discord. That allows the sane to grapple with the difficult issues with compassion, humility, and with the mutual goal of actually improving things for everyone.
