I think the big difference between the two if we look at the internal connectors section on MSI's website is that the gaming plus supports a thunderbolt connector which sadly is missing in Tomahawk I guess so, that is where the budget for gaming plus went.
I bought this board the other day, It's amazing fits perfectly with my all white build and with the teal / light blue color ascents it fits my color scheme going for a clean futuristic look.
i'm torn between this motherboard, the B650E-F Gaming, and the Gigabyte B650E AORUS Elite X AX motherboard. Both fit within my budget, and the rear AIO is important to me since I use many USBs in the end. As I use audio through USB, there wouldn't be any problem, right? Which one would be better to pair with the 78003D?
Really just depends on which one has the things you personally need from a motherboard in terms of ports, both internally and externally, plus of course aesthetics if you care about that.
Well for starters this MB is X670E and the other you mentioned are B650E so that could be a good starting point for your decision I was using an Asus TUF B650 and was having a lot of problems with the RAM (6000 MHz CL30) and when I changed to this one those problems disappeared and also I got the luxury of even using Memory Context Restore, something I could never make it work on the TUF B650 one!
Im about to get a new build with 7800x3d and 7800xt and cant pick a mobo.... This one seems pretty good but ppl are reporting a lot of problems with am5 msi mobos. Did u end up buying it and if so how's doing so far?
@@bojidardimitrov4361 I'm also looking to buy a mobo, and can't decide. Did you end up getting this one? Or you went with a different one? How is it going so far?
it's the rear side io for me, as a musician i need all those usb ports, for my interface, mixer, digital piano's midi inputs, violin, my dslr camera, my elgato lights and pad, ofc keyboard and mouse, along with a whole bunch of other small things like a mini hdmi to usb-c cable for my 2nd camera, along with that i've got a case with 2 front usb type a and 2x usb c. after all that, all i have free is 1x usb c, i need this much IO, and need a cpu that can handle all that throughput too, because surprisingly, back with the ryzen 2000 series, the 2600x wasn't enough to handle this much i/o, now with the 9900x, oh baby is it smooth
Guys just go for the X670E gaming plus wifi. The board is awesome. I have it with 7800x3d and 7900xtx...it is better than my previous bulid, board was Aorus Elite AX Z790 13900k and 7900xt... This X670e gaming plus wifi is no brainer at this price point(on Amazon 230$/240€)there is no better MBO price/perf ratio...
@flaviobondioli6682 most motherboard audio is pretty bad. Getting a basic dacamp combo or even decent a USB dongle dac is significantly better. You could also get a dedicated sound card
Looking for a motherboard for my AMD Ryzen 7 8700x3d. Future-proofing is important, but I don't need PCIe 5.0 support for the next 5 years. Budget is under 300 Euros. RAM will be 32GB 6000 cl30 with AMD Expo. Currently have an RTX3070, will upgrade in the future. Considering B650 vs. X670E boards, leaning towards B650 but open to suggestions. Usage is 70% gaming, 30% moderate video editing. Need support for 4 M.2 SSDs and up to 4 SATA SSDs without sacrificing ports or performance, while using multiple drives at the same time. White build compatible preferred. WLAN and Bluetooth not necessary but a nice bonus. Currently eyeing: GIGABYTE B650E AORUS Elite X AX ICE, ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi, MSI X670E Gaming Plus WIFI, GIGABYTE X670E AORUS Pro X. Any recommendations appreciated! Thanks.
No B650 boards that I know have 4x m.2 (all you've listed have 3). You need to go X670E for 4. In addition, the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi only has 2 SATA ports.

I’ve watched most and just struggled trying to find one you actually liked 😂 $200-300 gaming. Was leaning towards the tomahawk but you didn’t love it so I was hesitant to spend $220 if there’s something worth spending up to $300. I’ll keep watching

I am currently running audio via my HDMI (Dolby Atmos) into the TV and soundbar.
Am I right the ALC897 chipset would not be used in this situation?
Right. the ALC897 only drives the analogue audio output. Any HDMI or USB device will have their own digital-audio-converter (DAC.)
