Multi day backpacking in Cohutta is an experience for sure. Beautiful places there. Did Conasauga River 4 day alone years ago and other 2 person trips. Nights can be … let's just say the imagination works OT when alone LOL. DO go armed when alone. Rob in Loganville.
I enjoyed your video. Looks like you had a fantastic time testing all of your gear. Thank you for packing out that trash. Fort Mountain State Park is a beautiful spot. I have stood in that exact spot at 10:30 and it is indeed gorgeous. The Cohutta Wilderness is my favorite place to explore. There is something special about being out in the wilderness with no one around but you and God. Thank you for "Answering The Call" on your life. I appreciate the challenge you gave me. May I give my all for His glory! Take care and I look forward to more videos. I gave you a sub, for sure. Keep Hiking and God bless you and your family!
Kudos for venturing out on your own after so many years. I'm in Atlanta and enjoy taking (dragging!) my boys up to the mountains with me. We particularly like the Ellicott Rock Wilderness area, very remote if you steer clear of the Chatooga River trail but that's also the big draw for the kids. Couple suggestions on fire starting; discover fat wood and using a ferro rod - your boys will learn life lessons. Dryer lint is an easy ignitor but only lasts a few seconds. cotton rounds soaked in candle wax or cotton packing (insulation in food delivery boxes) both ignite easily but last much longer, enough to catch the kindling. Finally, I enjoyed the Malachi references and did read that passage. Keep it grounded and keep the focus on that family!
Great video! I'm planning my first solo overnight trip on this trail, so I was excited to find your video. It takes a little of the fear out of it when you know what to expect.
Heya Timothy, enjoyed the video. Looking forward to more of your adventures, and to meeting your boys and seeing them out in the wilds. I also appreciated your thoughts on the verses in Malachi. I'm afraid I don't measure up very well in that respect. The wildlife hearings and sightings are always fun! Happy trails!
We all fall short of the Glory of God. The important thing is that we don't give up and always strive to have a closer relationship with Him. I am ready to get back out on the trails again soon and get another video uploaded. Thanks for the encouraging words.
I’ll be doing my first solo backpacking and camping trip soon also 😊 except I’ll have my dog with me. She’s my kid. I think it’s AWESOME that you are learning and practicing so you can start taking your boys and introducing them to the outdoors. My only suggestion would be to take no technology and very few, if any, toys for them. I’m not even sure about vlogging when you have them coz better to spend time together. It’s a tough call coz it’s fun to make videos and share but I have such strong opinions lately about what technology is doing to relationships 😏 They can learn to play with sticks and rocks and climb trees and stuff. It will help develop their imaginations. Y’all can gather sticks and build a fire, sit by the stream, all the stuff you’re doing here but be sharing it with them. They are what matters, not strangers on the internet. 😬 Great video! That inflatable light is cool. I may take my tent to the woods today to learn to set it up for the first time, yayyy!
Hi nice video next time you will be able to have a nice fire some time after a rain you can find wood that is damp on the out side be the inside will be dry that will start burning stank the wet wood around the fire it will dry out and you will be all set for the camp out some time when I go out I do not make a fire there are a lot of high fire danger area that won't let you make fire. I need to get me a few of those cell bag lights And the Lord God said Let Be Light!!!! Be blessed and safe JoP
