How VERY COOL it is to receive a notification that you have posted a new video! HECK YEAH! Nice looking trip! I get sidetracked and off trail, SO FREQUENTLY, by hopping on an animal trail by mistake. I don't mind it really, because it's cool to see the trails the animals take, but I'd rather know in advance. Glad to hear you say there will be more videos in the future.
It was a bad day at work and come home with more riots and more covid talk on the TV. But a quick push on the button and RUclips pops up. I got the subscription button and to my surprise a new Evan Backpacking Video. What a pleasant and well time surprise! I think I am probably mirroring the hundred of comments, but thanks for 21 minutes of escape. Hopefully the first of many, at least a new "what I pack" video, as it seems you are sporting a new pack. Thank you for bringing a much needed smile on this old face 👍
My friend from a distance. It was great to see you post again. Looked like a true back country experience. I too understand the snake encounter. Only mine was a copperhead. It was providence that kept me from stepping on it though. Another hiker and his dog was walking towards me. They stepped to the side to social distance. Then I stopped to chat. While doing that I happened to glance down and right smack dab in the center of the path it (the snake) was lying there. The other man and his dog were unaware of its presence. Had he not been out hiking that day, I might have stepped on it. When you are walking along you are not always 100 percent of the time looking where you step.
Thanks for the comment! Yes, copperheads are the worst. More or less invisible. When I was doing the Sheltowee Trace, there were two of them tangled together right on the trail. I was lucky to spot them.
So excited to see a new Evan E-Wolf video! As soon as you turned the camera forward I automatically had my eyes peeled for copperheads and rattlesnakes in the tall weeds and blow downs - Lol.
Love this ! Not only are your videos beautiful and informative, but I love the historical knowledge you have wherever you are ! That makes it even better for me !
You are one of the more premier hikers of this decade. I am always just blown away by not only your videos, but the areas that you have covered. Great to see your vlog again. Thanks for the share
Glad to see another video by Evan! I just recently completed my thru hike of the sheltowee trace and posted the first video. I watched your series many times before and during my planning phase!
Good to see a video from you again! As always I found it informative. I especially enjoyed the botanical close-ups and seeing the condition of the trail.
Hah, thanks! That's sort of the mood I was going for. I certainly felt that way on the trail -- lacking cell service and being away from the news for a few days.
I'm so excited to watch another one of your videos! I was beginning to lose hope that you'd upload again, but here you are! You're my favourite hiker on youtube and the reason I started hiking myself. I hope to see more from you in the near future. All the best!
Here in WV, I have seen a lot of bears, but have never seen one in a tree or go up a tree. In Shenandoah NP, most of the bears that I saw were in trees. They were feeding on acorns, rather like squirrels. That looked like a nice hike. I love hiking and seeing no other person.
Excellent, Evan. I watched your AT video earlier this evening. and was intrigued to watch more. Went to college at Dahlonega GA, so became pretty familiar with wilderness areas in the Chattahoochee National Forest area in northern GA.., including the Blood MT. area you crossed on your AT hike. Carry on.
Oooh, hey Evan!! I got so excited when I saw this pop up in my notifications because I thought you might be on the AT again and that we might possibly run into each-other! Which would be pretty nifty. In any case, it’s good to see you vlogging on a trail again. I’ll have to check the rest of this out when I get back... Made it to the pretty red flowers:-)
So good to hear from you Ewolf!!! I can't believe how big and good looking Sam is, I'm sure he is turning into a fine young man. I know you enjoy your time hiking and camping with him. Enjoyed the video!!! Stay safe and hike on!!!👍❤
Evan !!! So good to see you again. Followed you the whole way on the Appalachian Trail .. so nice to see you out doing a trail again. Hope you do more .. enjoy watching..
Awesome to see a new trip video from you Evan! Amazing video and adventure. It looked like that Grassy trail was pretty tough to follow. Ok, so, you were the head chef at Bonanza...✌️ I remember that chain. Thanks for showing your viewers the Big Frog Wilderness. I had heard of it, but, never knew the connection to the Benton McKaye trail and the awesome amount of trails there. Well done! Crow✌️
Wow, so many blow downs, that would be frustrating for me (esp when hard to find the trail again)! So interesting - your cooking background - I’ll have to pick your brain (I’ve been attempting to make the perfect Keto Caesar dressing!). Impressed with your mileage. Sunsets and I did 20 miles over 2 days on the AT (Wayah Bald section) a few days ago and it was HARD (we were going for 24!). - Chica
I think it would be pretty easy getting lost; on the other hand, the trailheads are out of the way, so I don't think many people get on the trail without some method of navigation. Could be wrong . . .
Glad to see a new video, always enjoyable. Big Frog Mt is high on my peakbagging list so this was helpful, looks like I should try to avoid Grassy Gap Trail in the summer.
Fun video, good to see a new one again! Thanks also for responding to my email about video gear. I was specifically interested in how you did things two years ago given the huge changes in technology and why you would choose to shoot with one device over the other. I was surprised you were able to store that much video content on your phone. Just did a section of the AT in Pennsylvania(yes Rocksylvania!) yesterday. I live very close to the Lehigh Gap. So, it's easy for me to drive there, park and get a few hours of hiking and exploring in. Took my daughter with me this last time and had a great time. Thanks for the cool hiking content!
You're welcome, thanks for watching and commenting! As for technology, I think what is much more important is the story you're telling. There are some "beautiful" videos made with some very expensive equipment that are too boring to watch.
@@EvansBackpackingVideos Absolutely! As a techie I was just curious. I've just been shooting with my Pixel 2 XL or a GoPro 5. As you said, it's more about the trail scenery! Have a great weekend and Happy Independence Day!
Man am I glad to see you . Been missing your info here and on Instagram. Excellent. Great, see what a fan club you have ? This trip must have been a nemophilist's dream
Whoa, I was just about to kick you off my Subscribed list. I know that everyone is retired or living the RUclips life, but as always it was nice to see your video.!
Good to see you made it out. My mom used to bring me to Bonanza Steak Pit on my birthdays back in the 70s. Bonanza and Ponderosa are log gone from New Jersey unfortunately.
Oh, yes. Ponderosa was our big competitor. Later in life I became a business partner with a guy who, in his youth, was the head cook at a Ponderosa in the area. We didn't know each other when we were young . . .
i think that massive rattlesnake I found was also in that broad general area when I hiked the bmt in 2018, I'd have to find the pic on my ig to know for sure. I do remember big frog wilderness was just stunningly beautiful and had a lot of blow downs and solitude ... can't wait to get back out and get some miles in.
Love Big Frog and the Cohuttas. Check out Jacks River trail sometime. Great summer hike. Lots of river crossing. Tons of blow down from that storm a couple years ago. No trail cleanup crews.
Thanks for the comment! I did a long trip in the Cohutta and made a video about it a while back -- Jacks River Trail too, but the water was low at the time.
Yes - he is back! and still rocking the high tech flip flops.

It's great to see you on RUclips again. Your videos got me back on the trail. Thank you Evan.
Nice to see you out on trail again. Enjoyed the video..thanks!
EVAN!!! Good to see ya out and about. Love your commentary that goes along with some great scenery.
I loved your historical knowledge of the AT you gave during your AT through hike ! Your research it beyond approach.
I saw the notification and I yelled to my wife. EVAN’s Back!!!!!!
Hah, thanks!
Thank you, Evan!
great time in the woods with you thanks for taking us along
A new Evan video - and a darn good one. My wife and I especially like the history you include and the visual reference on a printed map.
What a nice surprise to see a video from you today! I love the footage of the animals, bugs and flowers. I almost feel like I'm there.

Evan....you're back. Really missed your videos. You're the best. Love big frog. Live near it and hike it often. Keep on hiking and videoing.

So good to see you back!! Your videos are so peaceful in a chaotic world.

So nice to see a new video from you! Thanks, I always enjoy your explanations . No thankyou to the big rattler. 😮
I"m late to the party, I just now figured out you are starting to upload again more frequently!!!! I'm super excited to watch these!!!!
Thanks for watching at any time!
So good to hear from you Ewolf!!! I can't believe how big and good looking Sam is, I'm sure he is turning into a fine young man. I know you enjoy your time hiking and camping with him. Enjoyed the video!!! Stay safe and hike on!!!👍❤
Thanks, I'll pass that along to Sam!
So great to see you Evan!! Have missed you man!! Thanks for the video. Some wild wilderness there.
Evan !!! So good to see you again. Followed you the whole way on the Appalachian Trail .. so nice to see you out doing a trail again. Hope you do more .. enjoy watching..
By Jove! Nice to see you out again. Greetings from across the pond in the UK. So enjoyed your AT journey. So much rhododendron though? ;-)

Nice video Evan! Thanks for sharing and glad to see you making hiking videos again.
Great to see you again Evan. The bear stories were great.
Nate
Good to see you. Your legs resemble mine from last week. Got mine a little farther north in Slickrock. Love your work.
Great to see you again. Looks like a cool area to hike. I grew up in East Tennessee but had not heard of this area.
glad to see ya out again. keep them coming. good navigation!!

20 would be hard -- 24 really hard. Loved your video about your recent hike!
Was glad to see a video from you. Great hike. My uncle was in the CCC.
Nice to see you again, Evan!
Rugged trail, beautiful wildflowers, lush wilderness and awesome narration.
Hi Sam! I was hoping to see you at Trail Days. I'll be there next year!
I was looking forward to seeing you as well. Next year it is.
Good to see you posting new video. Those trails seem dangerous by not being well maintained, hikers can easily get lost.
I think it would be pretty easy getting lost; on the other hand, the trailheads are out of the way, so I don't think many people get on the trail without some method of navigation. Could be wrong . . .
Evan!!!! My backpacking mentor. I feel like I owe you some money. Good to see you!
Great Video! Thank you for posting. Can't wait to see more content 😍
Glad to see a new video, always enjoyable. Big Frog Mt is high on my peakbagging list so this was helpful, looks like I should try to avoid Grassy Gap Trail in the summer.
Yes, good idea!
About 20 years ago I spotted a loop I wanted to try and do in Big Frog. Still on my todo list. Thanks for the share.
Welcome back.
I love these videos, you are inspiring me to try the AT
