For app dependent hardware like this, they should build it into the device similar to a modem router and you just connect to its software interface from a web browser which makes it compatible across ALL platforms and won't "expire" anytime in the conceivable future.
And you know what? They did exactly that for the HeadRush Prime/Core/Flex. I didn't even know it was coming. I just let it update and boom, there it was.
Never thought this way about this nano. Nice presentation and thought Paulie. I own an fm9 and many time I see myself get stuck on what you describe here.... because I see the name of the amps etc etc.
If they have either a well regarded expensive standard , or a totally new concept, piece of gear, they will use it whether it's needed or not. They came for the toys , not the work.
I have played many jobs in a jazz big band with my Engl Gigmaster 15 and nobody noticed it was not a proper jazz amp because it worked fine in the context😊
I really like the music part as I get to hear the 'tools' in the mix (and some great original songs). Most of the time I hear very little variance in quality (as opposed to tone) and it's all good. So, seems like personal preference and guitar player bias (hearing with our eyes) is the defining characteristic for choosing one modeler/sim/amp over another. I still like amps and air moving, but again, that's my particular bias.
Exactly. These things sound very close in the mix.Very different when playing thru it. I think they get the frequency and its harmonics , but not the relationship of their phases. It aligns phases that were not aligned to start w.
I personally don't have a problem using apps to modify presets on units like this or even amps as long as there are iOS versions of them. This is one of the many places where TONEX fails, in my opinion.
hi! please make a comparison with the hotone ampero 2, now it makes also amp captures with its latest firmware, and it's in the same price range but with many more features!
Just got a Black Friday deal and I love it. Many JVM Style sounds that are awesome for my sensitive ears. My headphone was fine. I have only some trouble with effects and how to use it. And to take it on and of on the pedal. For bass it is after a short test more boring.More is more (practicing) with the right gear. Thomann best "seller" was not the answers I got from them ;-)
The only issue I have with this is Neural claims that the Nano Cortex is made for a live gigging musician. And yet they don't give you the possibility to run one output with a cab sim to FOH and one without to your power amp into a real cab. A dealbreaker for me
Have spent the week comparing captures from Quad Cortex/Nano and ToneX and they’re not even close. ToneX is the best. Feels a lot better. Hope Neural DSP will offer bigger neural networks to make the models more accurate to real amp like ToneX and NAM plugin can do
Just seems like a very niche product. Is it for gigging guitarists who need extreme portability not offered by the QC, but who also have a collection of (or access to) expensive amps worth capturing? A lot of people were expecting, or hoping for, an entry level QC. Not everyone has a spare $1500 for a QC, but if Neural came out with a slimmed down version (no touch screen, control it with the existing computer software, less footswitches, maybe less processing power, without the capture tech), that would provide a more attainable entry point to the Neural hardware space. I honestly think that would sell a lot more units than the nano.
I returned the nano because I wanted to use it in a rehearsal and live situation. I captured my preamp, clean and dirty channel so I could switch between the 2 presets. Unfortunately, there is a quick dropout and lag (some call it latency) when switching presets. I have gear that is 35 and 40 years old that when I step on it, it switches immediately with no apparent delay. In 2024, this shouldnt be an issue. I dont want to have to step on a switch a little early and time it just right when Im playing, i want it to be there immediately. On the other hand, the unit sounded good and if you were gonna leave it on one preset through the entire song, it works great.
Hi EytschPi, Thank you for this video. Two questions. Which plugs for your cables do you use? Seems you could use them straight and angled. And is it possible to get your captures :) 🤘
I bought it and returned it in 48 hours. Couldnt find a single capture from anyone i tried that sounded better then the kemper profiles from similar people. Worse then that, i have a whole bunch of pedals ive collected over time and this didnt take them well. I was furious with it 😂 After returning and seeing many more folks praise it, im wondering if mine was faulty. Either way its gone and in the annuls of my gear history now 😂
idk who praises them except for "professional reviewers". a lot of people who bought them are not happy with them. you will find a bunch right here in the comments
Can we just admit that the quad is the coolest thing since sliced bread few things have made themselves as valuable from a dollar to utility perspective
Are the ethics the reason you don't seem to be a fan of Kemper? I currently own a Kemper Player, and am doubting between getting this as a second unit for a different practice area, or getting the Kemper Player upgrade to level 3. Both are completely different things, but I want both and have no idea which to prioritize
I’m curious…with all of these recent modeling pedals, if you are only interested in recording and songwriting into a DAW, would you say that any given software only modeller…maybe as a VST plug-in…would satisfy someone with an ear for authentic feeling amp sounds? I find of all the software types I’ve tried (and even hardware boxes like the tiny Tone X pedal I owned for a week then returned which I still monitored thru my DAWs studio monitors ) through very high fidelity studio monitors doesn’t impart that guitar amp feel, which you would kind of expect becasue of the huge impact the cabinet and power amp section of a real amp imparts that you only get a simulation of with software…
I don’t skip the music - an essential part of the crazy mad world that I enjoy here. If I skipped the music it would be like you wore a sensible jumper and there were no animals at the end……
01:01:56 "Maybe sometimes the thing that you think you want, isn't what you want" I agree one hundred percent! 💯 I'm a Tool / Adam Jones fan and recently bought a Diezel VH4 out of a brain fart. I also have the signature guitar and yada yada. Here's the funny thing: I've sounded better with a Victory VX Kraken that's a quarter of the VH4's price and also a quarter of the VH4's weight. And it made me cry, because here I am having the man's gear and it sounds better with a different man's gear. Conclusion: Sometimes you don't need "the thing"
This mix sounds better than the original to me, or maybe it was the pod express mix, but this one I like.. not so much the nanocortex itself, but the sound is nice
Great video ! Probably a great product, has great sounds. But not the product I wanted. It happens some times, I would have prefered a mini quad cortex, like a neural dsp hx stomp, idgaf about capturing my two amps. Guess I will just keep my money for later
This, seems to be built around the idea that you already have what you like at home and just bring the Nano Cortex on stage with you. Though profiling my own NDSP Plugins seems a bit silly and I am never on a stage anyway. So, not for me.
Bass captures sounding good ? What's next, guitarists playing thru a Fender Bassman ? ... In all seriousness an amp's an amp, use it as you like. Jack Cassidy got his great bass sound thru a single ended guitar amp.

Maybe not, but that's how our brains work and companies have been purposely exploiting our brains in this way to convince us to buy shit for a long time, there's no chance this was an accident. The opening bars of "Unite" remind me of Devin Townsend in his recent DTP era. Really nice.
Henning…….will you review the Fender ToneMaster Pro ? Would like your opinion.
Would like to, but I don’t think Fender wants that
Great Vid! what was the name of the midi controller you were using
Motrix
I would've picked 110, because fender bandmaster used 210 and had one of the most used crunch sounds of the 70s in nashville
Besides the 110...seeing you play Metal on that bloody guitar was the most amusing thing I've seen today! 🤣

I would say that the UA Plugins of DREAM, RUBY and LION are the ones that deliver that real amp feel, otherwise I agree with you.

holy shit, had this on while cooking and had to jump back to confirm the song featured one of my all time favourite singers! 🎉❤

All capture players and most modelers sound pretty good nowadays imo - but the song is killer!

ToneX suffocated this at birth with their free 1.8 update, out of beta soon. Well played IK.
Very tricky pedal
I like it but it made curious about the quad
So now quad is on the way and I will have to return one
this,
its a tricking gateway drug, its dangerous!
Ill stay for the tunes IF and ONLY IF, your cat records vocals for the next song.
Awesome awesomely beautiful heavy song🤘🏻🦄🤘🏻
