    For app dependent hardware like this, they should build it into the device similar to a modem router and you just connect to its software interface from a web browser which makes it compatible across ALL platforms and won't "expire" anytime in the conceivable future.

      If they have either a well regarded expensive standard , or a totally new concept, piece of gear, they will use it whether it's needed or not. They came for the toys , not the work.

    I really like the music part as I get to hear the 'tools' in the mix (and some great original songs). Most of the time I hear very little variance in quality (as opposed to tone) and it's all good. So, seems like personal preference and guitar player bias (hearing with our eyes) is the defining characteristic for choosing one modeler/sim/amp over another. I still like amps and air moving, but again, that's my particular bias.

    Exactly. These things sound very close in the mix.Very different when playing thru it. I think they get the frequency and its harmonics , but not the relationship of their phases. It aligns phases that were not aligned to start w.

    I personally don't have a problem using apps to modify presets on units like this or even amps as long as there are iOS versions of them. This is one of the many places where TONEX fails, in my opinion.

    Just got a Black Friday deal and I love it. Many JVM Style sounds that are awesome for my sensitive ears. My headphone was fine. I have only some trouble with effects and how to use it. And to take it on and of on the pedal. For bass it is after a short test more boring.More is more (practicing) with the right gear. Thomann best "seller" was not the answers I got from them ;-)

    The only issue I have with this is Neural claims that the Nano Cortex is made for a live gigging musician. And yet they don't give you the possibility to run one output with a cab sim to FOH and one without to your power amp into a real cab. A dealbreaker for me

    Have spent the week comparing captures from Quad Cortex/Nano and ToneX and they’re not even close. ToneX is the best. Feels a lot better. Hope Neural DSP will offer bigger neural networks to make the models more accurate to real amp like ToneX and NAM plugin can do

  • @verspunken
    @verspunken Месяц назад +2

    Just seems like a very niche product. Is it for gigging guitarists who need extreme portability not offered by the QC, but who also have a collection of (or access to) expensive amps worth capturing?
    A lot of people were expecting, or hoping for, an entry level QC. Not everyone has a spare $1500 for a QC, but if Neural came out with a slimmed down version (no touch screen, control it with the existing computer software, less footswitches, maybe less processing power, without the capture tech), that would provide a more attainable entry point to the Neural hardware space. I honestly think that would sell a lot more units than the nano.

    I returned the nano because I wanted to use it in a rehearsal and live situation. I captured my preamp, clean and dirty channel so I could switch between the 2 presets. Unfortunately, there is a quick dropout and lag (some call it latency) when switching presets. I have gear that is 35 and 40 years old that when I step on it, it switches immediately with no apparent delay. In 2024, this shouldnt be an issue. I dont want to have to step on a switch a little early and time it just right when Im playing, i want it to be there immediately.
    On the other hand, the unit sounded good and if you were gonna leave it on one preset through the entire song, it works great.

    I’m curious…with all of these recent modeling pedals, if you are only interested in recording and songwriting into a DAW, would you say that any given software only modeller…maybe as a VST plug-in…would satisfy someone with an ear for authentic feeling amp sounds? I find of all the software types I’ve tried (and even hardware boxes like the tiny Tone X pedal I owned for a week then returned which I still monitored thru my DAWs studio monitors ) through very high fidelity studio monitors doesn’t impart that guitar amp feel, which you would kind of expect becasue of the huge impact the cabinet and power amp section of a real amp imparts that you only get a simulation of with software…

    01:01:56 "Maybe sometimes the thing that you think you want, isn't what you want"
    I agree one hundred percent! 💯
    I'm a Tool / Adam Jones fan and recently bought a Diezel VH4 out of a brain fart. I also have the signature guitar and yada yada.
    Here's the funny thing: I've sounded better with a Victory VX Kraken that's a quarter of the VH4's price and also a quarter of the VH4's weight.
    And it made me cry, because here I am having the man's gear and it sounds better with a different man's gear.
    Conclusion: Sometimes you don't need "the thing"

    @cameronfarrell9076 Месяц назад

    "comparing it to a quad cortex is just stupid"
    It's not stupid, and here's why.
    First, if the market wanted a smaller cheaper quad cortex, and you put out a product that seems like it should be what you're asking for, you're gonna make that comparison. It seems like people wanted a smaller cheaper quadcortex, I know that's what I'm interested in and as soon as I found out that it isn't just a small quadcortex I tuned out quick.
    Second, the biggest reason the comparisons are made is a due to a marketing error. How does calling your product "nano"cortex not imply at least subconsciously that it is a small quadcortex. Neuraldsp is inviting the comparisons with that naming and the design of the product. Is it fair that this is what happens? Maybe not, but that's how our brains work and companies have been purposely exploiting our brains in this way to convince us to buy shit for a long time, there's no chance this was an accident. Stupid from the marketing team? Yes, but not an accident.

      @@EytschPi42 I know some complained they want to have distortion pedal after pitch shifter. Having that aside, for this kind of device, I think the use case is mostly connecting directly to PA or to PC for recording. Having pedals after Nanocortex beats that purpose. I just want to point out that not everyone is unhappy just because they expect the full functionality of QC at the fraction of the price. Many judge the device as it is on whether it is good for its price and whether there are alternatives.

    Honestly, I see it as a limited product, the idea of being able to capture in less quality than in other systems does not seem attractive to me, especially when you have spent a lot of money on super expensive tube amplifiers, in which case you spend more and buy the big brother, Then, in case you don't have super expensive tube amplifiers in your house and nothing to capture, an option like Tonex with an ecosystem where people share great captures or where you can purchase paid super pro captures, seems more attractive to the rest. of humanity, and this without taking into account that for the next update they include delay and modulation effects for free. 😊

    • @nikhilnarahari8424
      @nikhilnarahari8424 Месяц назад

      You're of course welcome to your opinion that captures from this device are of "lesser quality", but that's not necessarily the case. (I think captures on the Nano sound freaking fantastic). If you're referring to Leo Gibson's analysis using a null test to measure "quality of capture", it doesn't really take the *actual* sound or *quality of capture* into consideration... It's just an straightforward way to look for what are essentially mathematical variances in frequency. Just because something nulls out less sound overall than something else doesn't mean that it sounds better or worse. It just reflects minor, generally completely imperceptible frequency deviations

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  Месяц назад +2

      Why would this be lesser quality?
      It isn’t.
      I listened… I have ears… I recorded with it.
      Don’t forget that we are talking about music and not a “machine”… this thing works just as well as any of the others.
      What’s a “super pro” capture? Doing this is not rocket science… it’s fairly easy actually… so there isn’t anything “super pro” about anyone’s captures… don’t buy into the propaganda.

    • @Rancapinchos
      @Rancapinchos Месяц назад

      okay okay let's assume that we capture with the same quality, which is not the case because with its big brother, or kemper or Tonex you can record with higher quality, which later may be imperceptible or not depending on the hearing of one or the other, come on Let's ignore the quality thing, okay, I can agree with you to a certain extent, but seriously, do you set out to capture amplifiers worth thousands of euros and don't look for all possible fidelity? I mean that if you are a user who has a lot of vascular amplifiers, at least you are going to buy the big brother, or perhaps you go around capturing amplifiers in your colleagues' houses? because I don't have many friend with differents amps to capture, in this sense I mean that at least the majority of users will prefer to have an ecosystem where they can have more variety, I'm not saying better or worse. I honestly love Neural's work, in fact I have some of their plugins, and QC seems like a great product that can give more of itself, but this nano has honestly disappointed me from what I've seen, I don't see how it fits to my needs and I think that there are many people like me.

    • @Rancapinchos
      @Rancapinchos Месяц назад

      Super pro captures it is simply an irony I wanted to express that there are captures for all audiences.
      On the other hand, I am old enough to not have to go around buying advertising or propaganda from anyone, I subscribe to many channels, for example this one, that are very useful, and they tried to feed me with all the new information that comes out, and they help me make decisions, and I deeply appreciate it, but I'm sorry, I don't buy or swallow propaganda, no, it's my opinion and I express it just as I respect the opinion of others even if I don't share it.
