Features nice orchestral colors too: this is interesting also because Pacini was a contemporary of C.M. von Weber, Meyerbeer, Berlioz, and Mendelssohn --composers heavily associated to the development of 19th-century virtuoso, coloristic orchestration.
@KuhlauDilfeng5. I guess that "InfOrno" is mispelled "InfErno", "Hell", in Italian. The funny thing is that it sounds as a lapsus, since Dante's Hell is actually similar to a "oven" (a "forno", in our language). Thank you for sharing.

Purtroppo. Dopo Cherubini (1760), ad eccezione del solo Bazzini (nato nel 1818), vi fu il nulla per circa 60 anni, sino ai lodevoli sforzi di Sgambati, Martucci e Bossi.

+Harry Andruschak At least seven operas has been recorded, Saffo is considered to be his best.
although composed about 7 years after liszt's dante symphony, the style is somewhat older, like a collaboration between rossini and mendelssohn.
The key is D minor.
