@@sephyrias883 The Sapphire Star is an actual star in the MHW universe that is used by people to navigate similarly to the real-world North Star, not just a story. Because of this, the Sapphire Star is a symbol of guidance. Tyler MacGregor An interesting theory, but I don't believe that we have ever seen these dragons (if the legend is real, or if they are 'dragons' at all). I would not be surprised if Xeno was one of them though.
Ask Me If I Care I don't think it's real. Capcom likes to fill this world with mythos for the sake of world building, but at the end of the day, the MH universe is one grounded in facts and science, even the most fantastical and unknown parts of it. Still though, they like to write their mythos parallel to the monsters in game, and it wouldn't surprise me if these were the dragons they had in mind while writing this one.
Tyler MacGregor I think Elder Dragons and Black Dragons is where they draw the line for monsters grounded in reality. Seems most monsters have biological explanations for certain muci, breath, beams, and auras. But when you start going into some higher tiered monsters and Elders, some seem to be given god-like inexplainable statuses. Some like Dalamadur and Nergigante, as well as the Mohrans certainly are more real than unreal (in the MH universe), but others like Fatalis, Kirin, Alatreon, Shagaru Magala, Yama Tsukami, Teo and Luna seem to have a higher meaning. Might just be monsters praised for their strenth or other attributes (like how in India cows are often regarded as spiritual beings), but I do think there is at least *some* truth to the religion in MH.
Ask Me If I Care Elder Dragons are supposed to be on the more fantastical end on Monster Hunter. Even then though, we get bits of information about their biology, like how Shagaru’s frenzy virus is actually his way if reproducing, or Vaal Hazak’s effluvium powers are a result of his symbiotic relationship with the microbes that produce it in the Vale, or how Kushala Daora’s wind powers are channeled through his horns and tail, as well as the hints that at one point the ancient civilization knew most of the science behind them, that make them more believable. Many of these creatures do have the ability to shape the environment, so I agree there may be some truth the game’s mythos. I could absolutely see people in this universe forming myths and religions around them. But at the end of the day, no matter how powerful or fantastical they seem, they’re not gods, they’re animals, part of the natural ecosystem of this world.
Tyler MacGregor I mostly agree with you, but Black Dragons are definitely not natural. I mean, the three Fatalis are indeed gods, since even the weakest of them (normal black Fatalis) can singlehandedly destroy an entire kingdom, making every living creature not enter that zone ever again, and cut in a half a continent. Now, of course this absolute strength and power isn't shown during the fight in the game, because it has to be possible to kill, but the lore is quite clear about it. Also, Dire Miralis can regenerate its entire self by just its heart, which is... quite divine. And Xeno'jiiva, with the power of attracting Elder Dragons to get their energy once they die. And that's before it is even born. Now, I know it, Xeno'jiiva is technically not a black dragon, but that's of course just because, you know, it was killed right after its birth, so... not enough time to study it
Like that founder of Springfield in the Simpsons who had a statue. Bart found out he wasn't really a great guy, but the spirit of the ideal of the man he could be as legend was a wonder that need not be taken away. Sometimes it's better to have the legend than the truth if it makes for inspiration for others who could be inspired to do great things.
@@Bangcat The actual canon lore is that the Monster Hunter world is very definitely not Earth, that humanity ended up there from space travel, and that the current generations are descendants of the genetically enhanced super soldiers from during the time of the Dragon War in the first age.
the saphire star is the xeno jiva, plus you can see a resemblence of a star inside him when you cut his tale and he has a sapphire color..and he guides all the dragons towards him..

I was always annoyed when the blacksmith always said... "So what are we hammering this time Sapphire Star?" Watching this video changed my view on that guy.
This story gets me excited for future MH games. If the original people journeyed to the part of the earth we are on currently from another place, then that means that other place is probably still there, populated by strange and completely unique monsters altered and shaped by the fey energies of The Five. Ohhh.
One thing i do know is that some things that are forgotten are better to remain forgotten. As how humanity currently is we cannot handle certain truths or even worse abuse the knowledge...
Is it possible that the new world is where few of those dragons turned into the new world and that’s where the man went to and came back with the scales??? But it was later forgotten in time
There is a song in Monster Hunter Stories 2 Wings of Ruin that could reference some parts of this legend, even though the song itself is referring to another tale
I really love this story, also think that is real on this world. The 5 dragons were the original elders, they made the world monstrous but friendly towards humans. Many eons after men forgot about the beginning they were dominant of the world they helped create (with the sacles). That setted up the stage for the 1st age and the great dragon war started. Many more years passed and we started our journeys and and hunts which eventually lead us to the new world. Also thats why i dont agree on theories that state that xeno is the saphire star, he might be a baby one of his babies but the real saphire star is a really old powerful dragon in the sky.
I know it’s probably not the case but it be cool if the World was that Island or one of those islands and Xeno’Jivaa is that me of those dragons specifically the Sapphire Star.
The world could be a much later version of E.D.N. III, or at least the same universe as Lost Planet. For one the people in both can take some mighty long falls and survive that as well as some pretty extreme conditions. Plus both are stories told by CAPCOM. Space travel for finding a world, or even forging it happened here I think. Sizable things likely considered as leviathans perhaps down the generations re translated to dragons, as such tends to be the description of most of the creatures of super massive size like wyverns. An accumulation of these launched things perhaps forged the lands out of genesis reactions, even arks of DNA and / or creatures and other germination landed. Perhaps from there what they forged with technology was studied, and there were some, or even just one before the some, got tired of waiting in a never ending loop of observations from the stars, feeling not much was gained, time seemed to stand still. So down they went to hoof it old style. Coming back from their ordeals, they may have come back with something, and they served as their own building blocks of uses, as hunting and forging things from materials tends to do. However none the less, those things, scales, may have just been simple materials of moderate use outside of simply being the proof of things to be gained. The true beck and call was the power of those scales to get others to go to the world. That's the higher likelihood I take from all this. The Sapphire Star may have been something that indeed stayed in orbit, or may have been a ship. The moon given to the sky could be just that. A moon. A moon could help regulate some gravitational and other cycles for currents and thus as well patterned winds which would become essential for travel over the oceans. Or something else could be on it, or even an artificial miniature craft world like the Eldar keep from Warhammer 40K fame. That being said, the generations that have passed are likely hundreds if not thousands of years by now, and a desire for a more simple life may have ceased the passing on of certain knowledge. But in time, generations can't help but forget even things like desires for all the more simpler of lives. And so some tech like combustion machines are coming into play and perhaps even the occasional trinket of tech shows up here and there. Being that this and Lost Planet are also both made by Capcom, for all we know, with this story that strongly points to a star, this could be the same universe, or even the same planet, E.D.N. III as T Energy as we know it indeed dries up and goes dormant as it oddly did after the blast at the end of the second Lost Planet scenario. If this happened and remained permanent, it would set most of the E.D.N. III locals back to square one as Vital Suits and the other gear that had been further on and on adapted to the fuel source with no energy supply. All they would have left was a planet that's indeed been much transformed at the very least, but as planets tend to do, we might see the coming of another, or at least partial, ice age. Hence enter the new island of the ICE BOURNE scenario. Heck, in one past Monster Hunter game, there was a very brief moment that a very rudimentary mecha was made. Perhaps that Smithy came across some old plans, pictures, and was able to engineer something close enough once more. When you have cases of mankind oddly popping up somewhere, they often disappeared from elsewhere. When this happens, things tend to get left behind, and many have to start fresh or at least learn new ways of life. Give them a few generations, and old knowledge and stories can slip away, especially if they lost their old power source options. Take mankind's power sources, you take his machines. Take his machines, you've taken tools he's become dependent upon. Take mankind's known tools, he's bound to find or make new ones, and several generations of mankind later or going to have just that. A whole world of different tools, uses of power sources, and though the process may take generations, similar will likely-come again weather such technology past is remembered or not. But you can bet that a hunting society that lives an old life style but still manages to produce motorized melee weapons, cannons, and particularly a great sword with a rocket engine built into it, probably had a go at such technologies once, even if it long long ago and perhaps some secrets that were quietly handed down, or schematics left somewhere and crudely re created. Could the world be a generations old E.D.N. III, or simply just yet another world where space fairer's dreams to work a new world got them there, but then left to fend for themselves, or chose to do so with generations upon generations later recalling little to nothing of a history long forgotten? Perhaps hints to such will be further dropped in time, perhaps a very space oriented theme come January could shed some further hints upon the likes. Time will tell, as time flows endlessly where much is lost and gained. Time tends to tell a lot.
Considering what we know now, I don't think Xeno'Jiva really counts as the Sapphire Star anymore. After all, after many molts it turned red. Then again, stars often change color as they age...
