You guys are the PERFECT couple to represent the Gretch RV product! I fully trust Gretch builds a great product based on their wise decision to line up with you folks!
I've always liked the Grech because of the quality of the build, not only in the products used inside, but also underneath and behind the walls where it really counts. I'm really liking the upgrades.😊 Thank you both for always being honest in your reviews. Safe and happy travels...until we see you in your next video👍🙂
Thanks for the updated Strada Ion review! We have decided to put in a new order rather than buy the 2023 that was on the lot. Nice to hear of the improved pick up with acceleration, which was a definite lag when we test drove the 23. Also looking forward to more sway stability. The improved AC is exciting as well! Thanks!!
I love your channel and the energy. I was sold on the Mercedes Airstream Interstate 24GT until I came across your channel then I fell in love with Grech but what sold me was your refrigerator but now I’m concerned because I’m buying my first luxury rv next year for full-time solo female Glamping and now I’m thinking of how I can now add and small to medium refrigerator/freezer in the rear. I’m likely going to attend next summer rv show in Tennessee and I’ll make my final decision then if I’m able to get a large fridge then I’ll buy and likely buy a second rv for my daughter and grand babies. Looking forward to seeing how your new upgrade goes again I’m loving Grech’s luxury and quality ❤🥰❤
Why don’t Rv ACs use inverter tech like the mini splits and even new higher end window units have. It doesn’t turn on and off. It adjusts compressor power to what you need (uses a fraction of your AC once set temp is reached). Starts slow and builds up (very soft start). It’s not expensive. Seems like a much better fit for running off a generator or batteries with less watts needed by at least half once equilibrium is reached.
Congrats on the new model. We picked up our 2024 Strada Ion from Campers Inn in Leesburg FL earlier this month and just completed our 4000+ mile shake down cruise. I don't have a perspective on the earlier models, but definitely appreciate the power of the new engine and quieter AC. We averaged 21.8 mpg on our trip, which took us up to Newville PA, Petoskey, MI and Chattanooga, TN before returning to FL. Truly an enjoyable van. Inverter fan kicking on was a little annoying in the wee hours of the morning. We had to open both vents in the refrigerator to keep the temperature of the fridge where it should be. Amazing what you learn when you actually read the manuals. Only hiccup was the hose connecting the black/gray tanks to the macerator coming loose. Hose clamp wasn't fully tightened and made our first dump very memorable. David at Grech identified the problem and it was a quick fix to reconnect the hose and tighten the hose clamp properly. We definitely got a lot of good looks on the Grech and more than a few questions on what it was. Seemed like we were having an "open house" at Sun Outdoors Petoskey when fellow RVers wanted to know what it was.
So glad you’re enjoying your new Strada-ion. Yikes on the hose! I oftener clenched when pulling the hose out whenever the hose felt a little stuck and always try to pull out n the hose and not the end so much, but you have to in order to get it started pulling it out. :) I think it’s like anything with any company, sometimes something is just a little off on some little things like that…like maybe it was a Monday or Friday for the worker at the factory. 😂 Yes! You will constantly get the ooohs and the ahhhs with people gazing at the Strada. It’s definitely a unique, beautiful and “classy” Class B!
@@athenaskellion6171 I purchased the 2WD. My dealership, Campers Inn in Leesburg FL, had this one coming in. We wanted the light interior with the Tour floorplan and this one fit the bill. I used to do a lot of Overlanding, so I'm hardwired for a 4WD vehicle, but just didn't see ourselves getting in to the dirt with this vehicle.
LOL! When Michele was asked about 'the biggest improvement' she seemed so excited about-I thought she'd respond "bigger bathroom"! Nope-the AC unit!! Took me by surprise! 🎉 😂😊
I love the new improvements to this B van. My husband and I are excited about the AWD option and stabilizing bar. Getting closer to owning one. Thanks for your honest report on the Strada ion. I appreciate all that your videos expose us to. Happy and safe travels!!! DeeDee❤
Thanks for sharing the improvements in the new model! They sound pretty nifty, esp. the significant improvement in MPG. What I love best about my Strada-Ion is how nimble it is and how many places I can go (and park) that I wouldn't try in a larger motorhome. I also love how comfortable it is to drive and sit in. What I like least is that most of the components have failed some time between when I bought it in January and now, including the Dometic A/C which just conked out during a heat wave in Virginia. I'm guessing most of the components are by the same manufacturers as earlier models, so some problems may persist for the unlucky, but the new A/C unit seems like a definite (and quieter) improvement!
We love the Strada-ion for the same reasons. It sounds like you’ve had some unfortunate luck with some of the components. That’s definitely something out of the ordinary. A lot of the components are indeed some of the same that numerous RV manufacturers use. The new Gree AC unit and new engine and transmission will hopefully prove to be great improvements. We’re love them all so far.
Wow, I like my new van!! 😂😂 sounds like they did a good job on the new upgrades 😁 Michelle sorry they haven’t found a way to enlarge the bathroom yet, maybe next year 😂😂. Safe Travels!! 😁
👉🚐👍Enjoy and have a Blessed Weekend! Careful on the cabinet locks, I have the same type on my American Coach Patriot and have had them lockup, I then had to loosen the lock from the backside so it pop back out.
Thanks! We've been anxiously awaiting this video. Sounds like some great improvements, especially the air conditioner and gas milage. Can you confirm that the heat pump can be run off the batteries? We are 90% convinced this is what we want, we just can't find one to drive! Unfortunately there are not many Grech dealers in upper New England.
Definitely liking the lighter interior color. I can see you now. 😁 The darker color does make it feel smaller like the video compared to. Perfect comparison! Great video as always.
Long time subscriber and love you channel. We are retired with a small dog. Now unencumbered and ready for life's next chapter. Our mission is, 1) transition to a new sticks and bricks, 2) US travels full time at first but the future trips would be 30 days at a time +-, 3) possible long time ownership so build quality very important. Considering a 5th wheel, class A and a rig like your Gretch. Y'all seem satisfied and to travel easy in your current Gretch and I am surprised and fascinated. I know everyone has specific needs and there is no perfect RV but if you would, I'd love your opinion as to what would be your favorite and ideal RV. FYI, I think our needs and wants are very similar to yours being that I am a huge lover of PIE!
That’s just it, regardless of what RV we have had, there has always been things that we love and hate. Obviously the small bathroom is a love/hate relationship for Michelle especially. She says it’s more because that it is harder for her to wash her hair. BUT, at the same time, we both LOVE all the conveniences of it for our travels that have outweighed the negativity of the bathroom. You really need to decide which part of traveling is most important to you that you will find the most benefit from a certain RV. The stress has been much less for us for many reasons. Travel is just much simpler and having everything with us at all times has come in handy so many times. If you are a taller or bigger person, you’re not going to like being in the van so much. We had to cut back on the pie, we were starting to wedge ourselves while trying to pass each other. 😂 Just kidding of course, but that is something to take into consideration. You need to be comfortable when moving around. The bathroom is great for times that you want to do a quick wash up after a hike right before dinner without going back to the campgrounds. Hope this helps. There are many benefits, but it doesn’t mean it is right for you. Only you can make that decision.
Odd question but given that we have never used a wet bath…after you use it what do you use to dry it and do you leave the door open for awhile so it doesn’t get so steamy and get it to dry out completely before you close the door to start driving?? Thanks for answering a rookie question!
We use paper towels and sometimes a microfiber cloth to wipe down. We also have a small squeegee for the floor. The walls and floor do dry quickly. We leave the door open all the time unless we are driving.
How exciting to be able to endorse this company,,,,, I’m kinda jelly,,,, buuut we love our Tiffin 36LA. Craig is 6ft 5- so a van is not for him, I do love the van idea- but not for hubby. 😉😘😎🌸
Hi folks, would you say the Strada is harder to city park etc…compared to the Turismo? We’re really torn on wanting more interior space vs the flexibility of parking etc…
In this particular setup, we like it a lot. We’ve talked some about this in a few videos. The comfort is so much softer than other Class Bs beds that we have tried/laid on. We would suggest going to an RV show and do the same all over n the same day to compare.
I wonder just how many of the MB vans made are used for B van conversion. I get that for many price point is critical - main reason you see so many Ram based class B’s. I get that Strada wants to stay “upper end” but just think if they did a Ford 3500 based B van at a lower price point with the same quality.
We have not been to Alaska but it’s never bottomed-out on us. They do have a few other models that are 4x4. Check out their website at GrechRV.com and look at all their models.
It is not in the model we have but they are putting it in the 2024 models. Not sure why they didn’t include it in ours especially when we told them we thought it was better with it. They now have the table inset into the side of that same cabinet along with an inset area for the fire extinguisher.
I believe they also put a standard dump ability in the 2024's, so if the macerator for some reason fails, you can still dump. (Look under rig) The Air con is worth the trade up! (own 2022 Strada ion) Did you consider the AWD? (and the new color?)
Yes they did add this. We were not made aware until after we filmed. We would of liked to test the AWD but Grech didn’t have one ready yet so they sent us the rwd. As mentioned in the video, they asked us what colors we wanted and this is what we chose. Remember, we are only testing the units, we didn’t purchase them ourselves.
It was simply a movie clip right after talking about us liking the light color more than the dark color interior and how it makes us feel more confined. It was meant to be funny. It was a clip from the movie “Buried” and that was Ryan Reynolds.
Will you do a video on like a 3 month review of how you like your new rig after you have time to get used to it. Sounds like they did some good upgrades.
They ARE eventually adding that but we were unable to talk about that because we didn’t know when they were going to start. It wasn’t in the models yet when we got ours. The new table is different and a much better design. It will be inset and an inset below for the fire extinguisher. Grech has not put this in production yet and it would be difficult to add after the fact as it would require removing the top countertop.
From last time you switched, last time you talked about driver's seat and work table. Mirror on bathroom door. And pop up table left of sink where side door of van is. Maybe in future you could address daily needs you have. Thanks.
When you switched vans, from 1 to 2 your work table behind drivers seat was different and you showed how you used your computer in new van. First van did not have a mirror on outside door so you could fix your hair. And second van had pop up prep table removed left of sink and you had hoped they would add it back. Are these daily use thinks the same in 3 rd van or totally different. Thanks.
We have long since those videos have shown that I started using a lap desk. I quickly transitioned away from that table behind the drivers seat long ago. I now found something that works better that we will share sometime at the appropriate time. We are told that Grech is putting that fold up table back by the sink but it is even better now and is inset. We just didn’t get lucky enough to have that in the model we have now. We share a lot of things in our travel videos from time to time and not a video just about that one topic, so be sure not to miss those.
On an earlier show you were talking that they needed to fix the edge cutting counter and that you preferred the old one over the one in the 2023. Did they fix it in the 2024?
The only thing that changed from the old suspension is what we talked about with Mercedes changing the sway bar. It still had the Kelderman Air Ride suspension in the rear like the last model. This video was only about the changes from the last model.
We have been watching your channel for awhile now, and there was one episode where you made a smoothie drink - what was the recipe and what kind of protein powder did you use???? Do you also take a vitamin supplement …. If so what do you use? Can help to see you are trying to be healthy, I too have to eat gluten free. Thank You
We use a BlendJet and fill it about Hal way with cold unsweetened coconut milk, then add 1 heaping spoonful of organic peanut butter, 1 scoop of “Orgain” Chocolate Plant Protein Powder (get better deal at Costco. Then add 1/4 of an avocado and and one ice cube. Then top off the BlendJet with more of the Coconut milk close to the top. Blend and enjoy! We take a lot of supplements, but our multi vitamin is the Organic Multi from Costco.
Beautiful van! Are you responsible for any repair or maintenance? It seems your arrangement is for less than a year, so you probably wouldn't need any of that anyway. We love your show!
“OpaG They will cover anything needed. If someone were to purchase one, they’d be under warranty for repairs in that same short time period anyway. No maintenance needed in that time period.
What we said is that we have done a full review on the Grech Strada-ion (of the two previous models) and this video is just about all the updates on the 2024, because everything else is the same.
There has not been a test yet to compare to the last model, but it is 30% more efficient than the last unit with the same batteries that would run up to 10-12 hours, depending on what else you are using and how hot it is outside. We did a test in a video last year also, as mentioned in the previous video. Knowing that this AC unit is 30% more efficient tells me that it should last 30% longer. We have never had the batteries go that low, mainly because every time we start the engine they automatically charge or if we are hooked up to shore power. They definitely do not run low enough n a single night in most situations. We drive every day so we always keep them charged up. Sure makes it nice for boondocking, no need for a campground most of the time. Auto Gen Start is for when hooked up to shore power, your coach will automatically kick on the generator to run the AC(s). The Strada-ion does not need that because if you leave your AC on when away while plugged into shore power, it will be automatically running off the lithium batteries if the power goes out. Then again, when your RV is your vehicle you drive, you are usually not away from it to go anywhere. But it is nice to know you can let the AC run when parked somewhere (we always do) without a loud generator running. It’s always nice and comfy when we return. If we are out exploring int/walking around, we usually just turn it up ti around 80 just ti keep it from getting too hot while we are gone but yet keep it from running continuously. Depends on the outside temp.
@@LivinRVision I believe you meant that the Auto Gen Start is for when you are NOT hooked up to shore power :-) It is for when dry camping and need the generator to provide power for some load, typically to run the A/C when parked and not plugged n, for example if leaving a pet inside the rig on a warm day. That is when AGS is fantastic, unless you have a lot of solar that can run the A/C by itself (as my rig used to do).
Yes of course, sorry we get in a rush trying to respond to comments, private messages, emails, social media editing, traveling, researching etc. We all know what AGS is, but as far as solar, it’s not really needed with this Strada-ion. The 300 watts it has only acts as a trickle charger because of how much power the batteries contain. Driving or idling charges them much faster.
That would entail quite a bit. You would also have to make changes to the Firefly system also. Last I heard, Grech is not doing anything like this to the older models that have the Dometic units.
I think what you are seeing is a movie clip that we added in at 13 minutes even. That was from the Ryan Reynolds movie called “Buried“. That was right after we talked about the lighter color versus the dark color and feeling claustrophobic. Hence the movie clip.
I will say this, it has a factory-installed towing hitch with a 5,000 lb towing package rating. Of course the combined weight of the van and any towed vehicle must not exceed the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). Mercedes lists it as having a 7,500 towing capacity. You always have to do your own math because what you can realistically tow, also depends on the amount of weight you are putting inside the motorhome also, including passengers (The GCVWR). Always do your own math for your own weight situation.
No wording of that nature in our conversations with Grech but we have had the van in freezing temps and the simple steps we had to take, in a video we released last year.
It would be perfect if they had the B+ without the slides. I just think the B vans are too small. I have elderly family members who still travel. The quad seats would be perfect.
We call it “the lighter colored interior”. 😂 We’re not sure because Grech refers to it as either light or dark interior. Those are the 2 options they have.
Well that reason is EPA fuel rating. Just like Toyota has switched the Tundra from V8 to V6 Turbo. 2024 Lexus GX460 switching V8 to V6 turbo etc same bs. Smaller engines combined with Turbos create much more heat and strain on the engine!! These class B vans weigh a bunch and putting a 4 Cylinder Turbocharged engine in them is ridiculous. However their service departments will probably make a ton of $$$$ in the long run.
Fyi, a turbocharger gives an engine extra power without sacrificing fuel efficiency. That is how they are able to go from a 6 Cylinder to a 4 Cylinder Turbocharged engine. 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥!!
Yes, we understand what a turbo charger does. We were simply saying, maybe they have figured something out to eliminate any issues. You would hope, but neither of us work for Mercedes so I guess we will find out.
I addressed this with Ned from Grech. I am not the only one concerned about this. To gain something u give up something... The gain is minimal and I would be interested to see your fuel mileage savings. Thank you for your content I always look forward to your newly released videos.
Too small and expensive for me. As I age, I cannot see living that tiny even as I travel. Thank you for sharing it but I don’t have the desire to travel like that. Great for you but for me not worth all that money.
Completely understandable, some don’t think they can and some are looking for something nimble to travel in. It definitely depends on what you can live with. It also makes a big difference if you’re not too tall or eat too much pie. 😉
Appreciate your thoughts but the comparable Airstream is just as expensive with lower quality than the Grech Strada-ion and nowhere near the amp hours of lithium batteries that the Strada-ion has. Everyone that we have talked to that has compared them has come to realize this. If you go to an RV show, take the time ti look through them both and look at the details of what they have, then get underneath both and look how they are built.
You guys are the PERFECT couple to represent the Gretch RV product! I fully trust Gretch builds a great product based on their wise decision to line up with you folks!
I've always liked the Grech because of the quality of the build, not only in the products used inside, but also underneath and behind the walls where it really counts.

If you get a chance, the Florida RV Show in Tampa at the fairgrounds is the best show to go to for options to see and compare (in our opinion).

Nice! Like the AC huh? I kept waiting for Brian to mention that they 'fixed' the flip up shelf in front of the door🤔
(Look under rig)
The Air con is worth the trade up! (own 2022 Strada ion)
Did you consider the AWD? (and the new color?)
Yes they did add this. We were not made aware until after we filmed. We would of liked to test the AWD but Grech didn’t have one ready yet so they sent us the rwd. As mentioned in the video, they asked us what colors we wanted and this is what we chose. Remember, we are only testing the units, we didn’t purchase them ourselves.
Yes, trying to test drive one myself. All the best and THANK YOU both for your insight and efforts via RUclips
What was that 911 call blip at 15:01???? “Barry, you have to help me. I can’t see.”…. What was that?
It was simply a movie clip right after talking about us liking the light color more than the dark color interior and how it makes us feel more confined. It was meant to be funny. It was a clip from the movie “Buried” and that was Ryan Reynolds.
Will you do a video on like a 3 month review of how you like your new rig after you have time to get used to it. Sounds like they did some good upgrades.
We will either do that or we will talk about thing during other videos along the way.
Did they add the little flip up counter by the sink like you had in the 2022? I know you said you missed that.
Thanks.
Hi Mike. Can you elaborate what you mean by “our daily needs”?
The fold up table? That is in the plans coming but it is not in ours.
Can you give us a ballpark figure of the price for that van and how long of wait to get one?
The MSRP is on the GrechRV website. We have no control over the timeframe. You’ll need to reach out to Grech or a dealer.
At minute 3:46 it shows a starting price of $259,900 for the 2024 model.
@@MaxineAnne77drive it off the lot$175,000.00,a grand investment indeed.
What suspension came with your Strada Ion? Any how do you like it?
The only thing that changed from the old suspension is what we talked about with Mercedes changing the sway bar. It still had the Kelderman Air Ride suspension in the rear like the last model. This video was only about the changes from the last model.
Do you know if Grech has any plans to add a digital rear view mirror and leveling jacks that are available on the Airstream Interstate?
Have not heard. There’s a lot the Interstate lacks though when compared.
What is the name of the company that makes the windshield covers?
VanEssential
@@LivinRVision thanks Brian ❣️👍
So now, after a year, do you still like the Eco-Cool AC unit?
Absolutely LOVE it!! Much quieter and have never had an issue with it.
Hope this doesn’t jinx us now. 😂
@@LivinRVision thank you for letting me know, I order one last week. Happy travels. From South Fl. Ben
Hey Brian and Michele, enjoyed the video of your new ride. Is it turbo charged to help with power? Glad y’all are making it ok! Drop me a line!
Hey Randy!
It is, but Mercedes calls it a “high output”.
I don’t think we have your email address.
You mentioned that you have done a full overview on the 2024 GRECH Strada Ion AWD… Where can I find that video?
What we said is that we have done a full review on the Grech Strada-ion (of the two previous models) and this video is just about all the updates on the 2024, because everything else is the same.
The ac how long could be with just batteries and does the system turn on automatically when the batteries are low ???? The engines turn on ?? Auto ???
Great van….I’ll never own one. Safe travels
Is it possible to retro fit new AC unit on a 2023 Grech?
That would entail quite a bit. You would also have to make changes to the Firefly system also. Last I heard, Grech is not doing anything like this to the older models that have the Dometic units.
@@LivinRVision bummer haven’t taken delivery but just purchased a new Grech Ion TURISMO
What did the salesman tell you when you ordered about which AC it would have? Doesn’t the new 2024 Turismo have the new AC?
@@LivinRVision it’s a hold over 2023 off the floor, so it’s the dometic. We are super excited, but the only complaint I see often is A/C noice level
Very nice but I don’t want to deal with a wet bath.
What was the 911 thing at 13:08? Editing issue?
I think what you are seeing is a movie clip that we added in at 13 minutes even. That was from the Ryan Reynolds movie called “Buried“. That was right after we talked about the lighter color versus the dark color and feeling claustrophobic. Hence the movie clip.
The boys down here in funville are keenly interested in towing capacity...for our toys. Any info would be appreciated.
I will say this, it has a factory-installed towing hitch with a 5,000 lb towing package rating.
Of course the combined weight of the van and any towed vehicle must
not exceed the Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). Mercedes lists it as having a 7,500 towing capacity. You always have to do your own math because what you can realistically tow, also depends on the amount of weight you are putting inside the motorhome also, including passengers (The GCVWR). Always do your own math for your own weight situation.
Did they upgrade it to a 4 season rig?
No wording of that nature in our conversations with Grech but we have had the van in freezing temps and the simple steps we had to take, in a video we released last year.
It would be perfect if they had the B+ without the slides. I just think the B vans are too small. I have elderly family members who still travel. The quad seats would be perfect.
The 24’ does make a big difference from the smaller vans though.
What is the name of the lighter colored interior.
We call it “the lighter colored interior”. 😂 We’re not sure because Grech refers to it as either light or dark interior. Those are the 2 options they have.
Hopefully, Grech RV leaders are men of their word and allow you to post any and all criticism of their product?
Absolutely and so are we
Will this cure psoriatic arthritis?
I think the gas prices have made many people park their RV’s!
See refrigerator?
Did you watch our previous review on this same setup. I was thinking we explained about the fridge in this video.
Did we say we like the RV?
Appears like we must 😁🤓
Not for me too small 😢
and EXPENSIVE!
Definitely won't buy a 24 model. Don't like the 6 Cyl switch to 4 Cyl bs. Additional heat stresses an engine....
I would think the engineers at Mercedes had a good reason for the change and knew what they were doing with this engine, but who knows.
I was hoping to see a little bit of Canada . This video does not interested me.
This video was shot in Canada, does that count?! 🤪 More traveling in Canada next week so stay tuned!
Well feel free to skip it, like any other video you aren’t interested in.
@@LivinRVision Can’t wait till next Sat to see Canada. Safe travels. Charleston SC.
This is WAY too expensive. Happy for you though. Glad you get one to try. I personally would go with airstream over Gretch.
