Awesome. ❤ You are one of the few who get to pet the giant fluffy cows without being on the news for being told not to pet them. Tourists never learn. Their names fit them. 🎉

Being confined I'm surprised none of them are wound up and charge you! They must definitely trust you!!

You are really doing something right. I bet you are not moving them from pasture to pasture as often for your herd to be so relaxed and allowing you to pet them all over. Great job on ranching I’d say.

Sir, you should look into the yarn spinning industry. Bison fiber extremely expensive so expensive in fact that they mix it in with regular wool to make it affordable.
Just a thought, you could put up bovine bristle brush scratching posts on your property.
In the spring they might just leave you with a whopping amount of shed fiber you could sell.
If more people did so it would bring the price down and more people could afford it.

I never thought about that, I wonder if white bison fiber would be even more expensive then!
Thank you so much for the idea, I used to brush Kota daily when he would let me to get him use to it.

      @WhiteBisonWhisperer-SU
      You know what
The white bison would probably be worth more because it could be dyed different colors.
Just the common color is hugely expensive because of #1 it's a rarity and #2
      The incredible R value.
Long staple is best for spinning however don't throw out the shorter bits they can be used to make battings for quilts. I shudder to think how much that would cost, but it would be worth it considering the R value.

One more thing then I will leave you to it.
Getting fiber wet with warm water, soap and then agitating it will be a disaster so don't do it. It will end up turning into a felted mess and will be worthless.
Look into processing alpaca fiber. Sheep gets hotter water because the lanolin has to be removed.
I'm guessing bison is more like alpaca. Just remember agitating is a big no, no.
Also see about finding a fiber processing plant near you. Find spinners and specialty yarn shops near you, go in and talk to them.
What you've got is not destined for Walmart or big chain craft stores.
      Good luck to you!!!!
