  • In this episode of First Person Defender, we focus on the challenges of a dynamic violent scenario where quick decisions are the difference between life and death. Our Defender, Trent, carries often and he’s a competitive shooter, so he’s no stranger to trigger-time. But does Trent have the tactical expertise to save himself as the scenario rapidly changes.
For this training, we take a real-life scenario straight from the news and place Trent directly in the middle of it. He has to deal with not only a straight-up robbery, but also a stealthy bad guy intent on a violent, sudden attack. This episode is hosted by Ryan Gresham, with training provided by Chris Cerino.
As with every FPD episode, the intensity is high, the training is valuable, and the lessons are painful for both the "good guys" and the bad.
This episode of First Person Defender is brought to you by ‪@TheColtFirearms‬ ‪@RugerFirearms‬ ‪@RangeReadyStudios‬ and ‪@t4e‬.

He did shoot and move. Also I think he’s right the threat was not over. We’ve seen plenty of CCTV footage of armed robbery where the criminal gets the stuff and still executes the victim. Considering he still had his hand on the gun, that guy was absolutely a threat. Also, being a competitive shooter, he knows his draw times so he knows if he can successfully get a shot on target when the opponent looked away.
    I think Trent’s 1st instinct was solid.
I also think this proves how well competitive shooting prepares you for self defense. People like to argue it, but this proves “competition isn’t a gun fight, but every gunfight is a competition”

Seemed like he was treating the training as a game. He drew really, really early in the 2nd scenario.

So glad to hear you mention shoot and move because it seems that nobody talks about that. The impression is given that with the high capacity pistol magazines al one needs to do is to stand there and do a mag dump on the bad guy, totally not thinking that the bad guy may well shoot back. One can even use a Coach gun in home defense if you shoot, move and re-load when under attack. Keep up the good work.
