OMG. Dad owned one the same but a 245 with a red interior. I was in my early teens when he bought it new from Austral Motors in Toowoomba. Nice example right there.
This dude facinates me with his obvious love for all things Valiants..the VH Models had much better Rust treatments unlike the later series..I'd like to check out the Cars one day...
Geesh, 215 manual with drums, unheard of in NZ to my knowledge, at least I've never seen or heard of any, ever. Real pretty example, seems a shame to butcher it but I guess that's the buyers privilege.
VK is arguably the second best looking model behind the CM. Probably the most modern looking. The CL/CM's very American front looked mean and serious but was a backward throwback to the early 70s. The VJ and VK was more uniquely Australian.
@@jamesfrench7299 The VK front reminded me of Jimmy Carter smiling. I had the large cone shape hub caps and removed the centre bit to reveal the Plymouth Division logo. Which caused people to ask wtf.
@@chuckmaddison2924 It does look like it's smiling at you. Could be why the VJ was the biggest seller. I can kind of see what you mean with Jimmy Karter.
As another commenter says leave it alone. That's a precious specimen and that 215 sounds fab with it's obvious headers fitted. Why is it all about power? Stick those bits into a restoration, not this time capsule.
Matlock Police after colour broadcast. Matlock was an American show. I don't recall seeing an Aussie Chrysler in ACP but do remember fondly Sergeant Frank Gilroy's XD Falcon cop car.
In rotorua back in the day, I used to be able to buy 3 on the tree manual 71/73 245,/265 ranges for $900 in good original condition, anyone wants to talk about them get back to me. (no I don't have any left).
The VH and previous models before did'nt have the Rust issues that the later models had..as the Rustproofing was upgraded starting from the VJ..also the quality of Steel used in the Valiants was quite poor..then there's the shitty design etc..etc..etc...
How stock standard can you get !!!!! Even the AM radio is an option. I would leave this car alone as this would be the only one with no options surving in this model. It will be worth more left alone and be appreciated more, so people can see how basic cars were in the 70s.
Thanks for the input mate I’d say this would not of had a radio. The 1 fitted is from a commodore so was definitely fitted later I have to disagree about value. This car is beautiful no question but still not worth big money being the basic pov pack Cheers
My dad had a lime green one with a black vinyl roof we went everywhere in it towed the caravan or the tandam with the tractor on it never missed a beat
When I was 22 I bought my service managers parents car. That was 34 years ago. Olive green VH 215 3 speed that was like a brand new car it was so well kept. Once again, if only I'd kept it...
Iv'e got my dad's old '71 VH Ranger (NZ) , It's a 245 , auto, front disc's , adjustable mirror, Chartreuse green ,was bought new for the town clerk to use , town clerks being what they are , he would have wanted something new a year later, so it was passed on to the head man at the council buses, then it became a run about parts getter for the bus mechanics etc , then in 1980 they put it up for tender , and my father who worked in the bus depot office got it for $1750 ( turned out he was the only one that put in an offer) it was in great condition , always serviced well , Dad drove it until 1997 , he was starting to struggle a bit with the Manual steering and brakes , and he took a liking to my '84 Cressida, and asked me if I'd like to swap cars ? , of course I bloody would . So he's gone , but the VH is still with me , good old Dad.

My first car was a VH Ranger XL 265 auto. White with black vinyl roof.
That was when Australia made and built great cars. just perfect
I way prefer the VJ.
These are amazing, they look similar to the 1st sedan Kingswoods, specialy with the 3 on the tree 😃 So cool, Cheers
Love the end of the video with the servo. Looks like another OTR from SA coming soon.

No! Don't do it!! Keep it original please!!! It is a time capsule. There are too few left that way.
Agree don't touch it other than wheels and towbar off
VH models came with those wheels as an option 6 half inch not 6 inch . Hard to fine 👍🏻🇦🇺💯⛽️.
Yeh, the wheels don't bother me. Factory or not, I find jelly bean mags most objectionable though.

What a nice surprise first thing in the morning this was. I had a VK 265 auto in red , brown dash ,and cream interior. Loved it.

What a mint old girl 👍
She's a pearler Coop. Bloody Beautiful. 🤙
2:46 like a shot from A Country Practice or Matlock. A beautiful specimen to look at. Well done Coop.

That is way too good to change anything.
Really needs to be left as is.
Here's proof that we made great cars in Australia. I'll never accept the death of Australian automotive manufacturing.
Fantastic mate , cant wait for the 360. Definitely the best small block ever made.
Ive got a white matching numbers v h regal sitting in my shed 245 auto
Very nice!
Practically showroom condition.
Nice find still looking for my first one Newcastle’s nsw think there’s all been scooped up

just reminded me when my dad told me i have to rev the engine to get rid of the corbon in the heads
That's gorgeous. In a way we have Crawford Productions for sending up the price of this era of Valiant.

I thought the days were over of butchering Valiant, much better to keep a car like this original.
Not if you want a V8 4speed 😉👍
matlock police job
Wow how good is that, wide wheels and all🏆 🏁
👍, like those oldies
My mum had a Valiant for a bit, I don't think it was a ranger, I think it was an earlier vintage.
Wayfarer?
Very cool and nice not many left like that old girl ❤❤❤❤❤ I’m jealous
Must 215 Hemi had a 323 diff 🤔🇦🇺💯⛽️
Looks good, sounds crisp. I'd give my right Testicle for that. Mint!

i reckon the back end is still one of the best i have ever seen on a car.
I remember when my granddad passed and the family sold his one for $350 😭same color and all.... beautiful car 👍🇳🇿
