Best cars ever made , still have my old Chrysler regal se was a mild 318 . Now hot 360 alloy heads roller rockers Lunati voodoo cam. Kills my ls1 . Has over a million k's now, can't believe we don't build cars here anymore and Chrysler were so much better than Holden and Ford's.
Interesting to hear a review from someone who didn't grow up with them so no nostalgic tint to his view, just says what it does for him now and how he rates it power, handling, styling etc wise. Quite cool. Despite not being factory it still looks great.
Yeah, nice car and $40,000 is about right. I spent my teen years working and driving E49 and E38 Chargers. Now, nobody can acquire one of those but if you could, expect to pay $250,000++. My idea of a Charger rebuild would be a restomod.
Dad had one in the early 70,s Bought new I think in 72. We three brothers had the rear seat. Talk about car sick. Dad used to give it some stick. Good days.
Nice VJ. While the VF-VG-VH Pacers are my favourite Valiants, I've always appreciated the look of the Chargers. Just has that classic old school 2-door muscle look. I really like their ass. That duck tail-styled spoiler with the rectangle tail lights looks so sweet. Nice channel bro, I just discovered it. Will be nice to have a young bloke covering Aussie cars, old and new. Since I mentioned the Charger having a nice ass, how would you feel doing a video on a VQ-VR-VS Statesman/Caprice? They have an ass that would make a Kardashian jealous. EDIT: Also just as a note, those wheels are commonly referred to as "jelly beans", due to the shape of the slots resembling jelly beans. They were actually a pretty cheap wheel back in the day, and nothing special, but today they just look so nice and classic.
Hi. That's a nice VJ Charger. But there's a few ways to take her to an even better level again. These are just suggestions though. It's not my car to do whatever I want. VH E55 SE interior with the white inserts in the seats. Black VH R/T door cards with the silver rectangle inserts. Keep the guages but go with the fish-scale dash and console (optional tho, it's still great as it is) paint the raised bars on the tail light bezels in black, like the VH R/T Charger. And do that area in argent silver, like the VH E55, keep the black up top though. Bonnet black outs look good, and that red panel just in from the bumper between the headlights needs to be argent silver too. All Chargers are worth big bucks these days. 40K is quite reasonable for this one. It's probably worth more.I own a 70 Dodge Charger and a 71 VH Pacer.
I guess an original one would be more than 40 large. But to have an original E55 with the imported American 340 would be special because Chrysler attempted to give the Australian consumer something akin to what was happening in the US muscle scene; and I think that creates value in and of itself. Unfortunately investor activity has put these cars out of reach for many of us and bringing out a US model and paying duties etc can be far cheaper.
American Mopar man here, Chrysler never built a 314 that’s a 340. A 2 barrel carb in a 340? That would have to be a 4 barrel carb, Chrysler never put a 2 barrel on the 340 it was strictly a performance engine. Love the Aussie Charger.
I have the entire season of Bluey and there are tonnes of Valiants from this era in all body variants. These were an Aussie icon. PS why must you emulate Doug Demuro's narration style?
@@CarSauce lucky you got to drive that one, it looks pretty good and I like the fact the owner hasn't lowered the crap out of it, does nothing for the handling to lower these cars by winding down the front torsion bars.
Though I appreciate the time effort & your upbeat enthusiasm into reviewing this car with modified spec E55... but it really isn't its a tribute or replica at best....The video heading "rare V8" is misleading if it was a factory E55 then i would say you have a point... You state that it's more special that someone put the time & effort to making it a E55 .... your positive spin doesn't necessarily equate being more desirable however if you restored & kept it original you will still have an equally just as desirable car... But nevertheless it is a nice car.
Are you sure you didn't mean 340 2BBL. Never heard of a 314. And the seats were always soft and bouncy and would give you a sore arse after 4 hours driving ,but we didn't mind.
Hey, no need for being harsh, he's a young lad, with a lot to learn. I'm 59 years old and know a lot about these cars, and own 2 Mopars myself and owned several cars previous. I've helped mates restore their cars. The lad got a few trivial things wrong, who cares? He did his best on limited knowledge. Give him a break!
Its not possible for it to be "even more special than an E55". Thats just ridiculous, it can't be. Not because of opinion but because of the whole meaning and reason that makes a specific thing special in the first place. And in the context of an E55, the thing making it special is its an E55. A non-E55 can never be more special than an E55 because its not an E55.
I agree..... I personally would have restored to original...... But some people just don't get it. What's really funny is he gives it the BIG talk-up hype.
I agree with you!..... It's really quite funny how this guy is praising it up big time & at best it's a replica.... I personally would have restored it to original.... but some people just don't get it!. Would I pay $40 thou for it? ... No way.
It's only a standard/ stock charger Made up to a V8, not even the one Chrysler were going to use from a 6 banger. F#@k me you couldn't give them away in the 80s now 40 k Doesn't even have the sports dash

It's a shame, would love some Aussie cars!
I still have my e38
He needs to realize a 383 is a lot bigger than what he said

Restomod with a Barra turbo maybe? 😁
@@CarSauceYes, with a Barra, turbo and better stoppers all round.

Good job on the video, I’ve got a 73 VJ Charger in vintage red too. It’s the 4.3 straight 6 265. Awesome cars.
Thanks mate, it's a beautiful car!

The Charger buckets were the best in the business. They wrapped around you more than other brands and were a softer cushion than modern hard seats.
314 2BBL at 7:27 WTF. That must be very rare. Only one in the world.
Funny as. I own a 1980 CM with a mildly worked 314🤣🤣🤣oh and a 727 trans.
Moparrrrrrrrr
Simply put There's nothing like an original one not a copy ....
True, but it's next best!
You can tell this kid didn’t grow up in the 70’s , but these are great cars and proudly built in Australia

They are bloody expensive! But a hoot to drive 🙂
Thanks for the comment, see you around!
This guy cracks me up. Fuel filler cap sooo coool tail light sooo coool. Dude your the coolest
Thank you for kind words! 😉
I owned a 1975 VJ Charger, loved it another I wished I still owned.

Dont get my trousers dirty kneeling at 1:29 - gold!
I forgot all about that 😁
Remove the sun visor and fix the bent rear badge and theres 10G added value:)
Good video, I use to have a ex police 1975 Valiant Charger, wish I still had it
Would have been awesome! What model was it?
@@CarSauce it was VJ , white, floor shift auto, was many years ago I owned it, 1985

She's no e49 spec 265 but it is a gorgeous car
E55 was 340 not 314,
Holy shit I'm forced back in time to my 3/4 the apprenticeship as mechanic..me being with Ford and mate's of mine being Valiant how good is that.
Eview loved it well done thank you 👍👍👍

To be honest, I'd have to do my research again - it's been a while 🙂
Definitely is a 318!
My CM Chrysler has its original factory 318/727 combo.
Which WAS a 2 barrel carburettor. Not any more. 🤟
Holden seats gave a sore arse, not valiants or falcons. Vals had the best seats and charger buckets were more wraparound than sedan buckets.
@@rossbrumby1957 Its ok Ross , I have a soft arse...lol
"4 BBL Engine" ahahah its a 4 barrel bro
Ahaha
You don't know what your on about.

Funny to hear a Millenial test drive a classic

It has parts that were optional so not a bastard
Ah yes the mini dodge charger
Don’t like that sunviser though
around 40k thats cheap !!
u shouldnt be covering stuff like this
i am only 34 and whatever engine this car has is not a 340.
Should have been restored to original....be a more authentic car personally.
"more special than an e55" haha e55 chargers are worth moer than 100k, this car is a piece of shit

It’s a charger with a 340 not a pos looks original and well done
Why do we have mellennial poofters reviewing real cars?
It's only a standard/ stock charger

Doesn't even have the sports dash
