Great video ! Thank you 👌 If you want to aquascape moss, you can do so very descretly by attaching it to almost anything with a fish line. Over time it will attach itself to the surface it is touching. Some people won't even bother and straight up superglue the moss to a rock (it won't kill it). Gorilla superglue is not toxic when fully dried. If you are more patient and don't want to add line or glue, you can put moss in a blender and use it as "paint" on wood rocks n stuff. It will grow back fully attached to that surface (even if you let it dry for years it will look dead but it's not. Beware of not adding too much live land moss that haven't been acclimated to under water life. It will foul the water pretty quickly over the two first weeks. I almost wiped out my entire daphnia colony by taking in too much moss at a time (the path of hell is paved with good intentions). It takes about 2 weeks for a small patch of land moss to start growing when submerged. Over time it becomes more and more beautiful growing straight up. It makes a dense mat for fish and microfauna to hide in. 👍
I found a bladder snail in my aquarium a few mths back🙈 I've only had my fish since February so I'm new to it all😁But yesterday I found yet another one🙈The last one was put in my lake but this time I wanted to keep the little pointed bum nut😂So your vid was the first I came across and it's definitely helped me along the way,so I thank you😀👍

@@flowjo4038 Ah, gotcha. Yea I know it's tempting to throw them in a lake or something but apparently that's really bad to do. You can catch snails by putting a piece of cucumber or zucchini in the bottom of your tank overnight and in the morning it will have snails on it. Then you can toss it in the garden or something like that. I have some bladder snails but I just leave them be because they are good for eating dead/dying plant matter and algae etc. The best way to control their population is through not over-feeding your fish which is definitely easier said than done.
So I started a LakeOSphere from our local lake…and it came with a healthy bladder snail. Spent my evening catching scuds…SO many, they’ve been attacking my snail eggs. Should I start a new system for the snail or try to keep the scuds at bay? So glad I found you!! 🐌
Scuds are something that I want to get into! As for your snail, yes you could build it a special place to thrive but I believe it will succeed with it's eggs in time. They adapt to predators in a few different ways. Like hiding eggs in weird places or even laying them above the surface of the water. If you do return to the lake I'd look for more snails and build a new Ecosphere setup with them in mind. And be very careful when collecting! Never go alone 😅
Hey Farrah sure! Well water is a much better option than recycled city sources or bottled water full of micro plastics. I'd be tempted to test the water a bit. Just to know what you're working with. Some wells have a lot of rust or sulfur but can still be viable.
A note about bottled water: it's often tap water. One of the bigger brands is actually my city's chlorinated municipal water. Brands claiming to be spring water also treat and chlorinate. Using your own tap with dechlorinator is cheaper and ends up being the same. 🐌

Hey thank you for the kind words! I wear the mask mostly for fun and it acts as a bit of a pop filter when narrating. Also helps with gnats when working outdoors. I've debated dropping the mask but I'm definitely more confident with it on 🤷♂️
Hi, thank you for this tutorial! I'm looking for ways to set up a home for the bladder snails that are currently taking over my shrimp tank. I was wondering, for this to work, do you need an extra light source? Or does a space at the windowshelf suffice? I thought about taking the jar to my office to have something nice to look at at my desk, but i feel like LED + timers probably won't be permitted
That depends on your plants! Lowlight plants like spikerush can almost grow in the dark. But when viewing the lights definitely add a nice touch. The window is adequate for daily life of the jar. Be careful to avoid long periods of hot direct sunlight. This window faces east which works well
A jar this size can support quite a few snails. I'd start with just a few though. With bladder snails 4 or 5 will quickly become 20+ With ramshorns... I'd choose a larger jar. They can do fine in one this size but definitely not ideal for them
Hi! I've essentially got myself a giant jar I'm trying to get set up for my 1 lonely bladder snail. About a foot tall and 30 inches around, hehe. I was wondering if there's any easy way to get like just a few bladder snails, or do I gotta cave and buy them bulk? Also, is them overpopulating gonna be an issue? Cause it would break my heart to have to feed them to my mother's fish or something every once in awhile to control them.
go to a petco or petsmart, or any aquarium store and ask for some. i'm sure they'll have some in their tanks that they do not want. but beware of overpopulation lol

It’s best not to add the snails to any local water sources because they are invasive.
