French Women are comfortable in their own skin...that's what they work towards..."being the best you can be ". Not a slave to fashion and trends...looking best for you... sets them apart.... colours that suit them...styles and cuts that suit them...so first is knowing your self.....confidence also comes with age..and in France they respect age..and older women are still seen as alluring.

My daughter had the opportunity to study for a year abroad. She was in Strasbourg France and she came back so simple and plain compare how we dress and wear makeup in the States. Great video
As a woman of a certain age, I began reading Jennifer's books maybe 8 years ago. I just read the first one, but suffice it to say, I think they are timeless. Not only will they become classics, but they are appropriate for any woman at any age. Thank you so much for them and for the blog. I always learn something new and usable.

I find it amazing how we "non French" women have to work at looking French and effortless, and like we didn't try hard. Lol. That self confidence and sense of style is in their DNA and can't be imitated. But we will all continue to strive towards it. What a fun interview!

Very interesting. I have heard that French women don't use as much make-up as us Americans (especially around the eye area). I enjoyed hearing more about it from an actual French lady, and would like to hear more!
This was a great collaboration I have loved fashion since my mother and my grandmother took me to Saks Fifth Avenue. But on a budget every age I have upgraded the collection slowly. My Italian riding boots came back in fashion in the last 10 years or so I’ve had them since high school The Quality is impeccable or they wouldn’t have lasted this long. I recently in the last two years have upgraded the handbag collection. I now carry quality for the first time in my life and I just turned 60. I guess my motto is buy the trends cheap and if you like it and it works upgrade slowly
The list is so important and thank you for talking about skin yes yes yes I hardly ever put any soap or wash on my skin I just use water and thank you for getting me some perfume information because I have never upgraded on this subject

Such a treat to have you both talking about fashion and style ❤️! Simplicity is a true art to master in so many areas of life. I agree with your beauty counter remark. Most of the times when I need an advice there I leave feeling like a dinosaur ( I’m close to 60 yo, which seems to be beyond a young clerk’s perspective 😀) and disappointed, as usually the only advice I get is to buy the latest product of some sort which miraculously will fix all my problems.

My Mom (who is French 😉) has a very minimal make-up routine: only lipstick, but always red 💋.
And if I am pressed for time in the morning I will also wear red lipstick but also add volumizing black mascara 😎.

visiting from Marie-Anne's channel and newsletter. That was a quick 20 minutes. I always loved Chanel No 22. White bottle w/ gold band. Sadly, it is nearly impossible to find anymore. I have a little bit left in my last bottle. Which I open and sample the scent once in a while. This bottle must be 20 years old now and still the scent is lovely.

And nothing wrong with full lips and red lipstick. It does depend on the clothes on that day, and of the type of red, but it is worth playing around with. Start with the red lips, then do the eyes, to get the balance. : )

It's difficult to locate high quality clothes, they're not very accessible. I'd like to buy fewer, better clothes, but where?? I'm not thin, either!

I am at the very top of any European sizing which is the 48 Italian 16/18 UK. I’m thinking it’s a 14/16 American. Many of the really expensive clothing lines don’t even make these sizes period. so give it up however there is some satisfaction in buying Scandinavian size Helly Hansen is my favorite company and I comfortably fit into all of their pants and jackets but it’s more sportswear however I haven’t really bought a lot of Helly Hansen except for a big jacket and a snow pant

Boden usa, JCrew, Lauren by Ralph Lauren (his most inexpensive line) are some I use. This month is a good month to buy any winter clothes of good quality at a good price.
I’ve always thought Chicos uses good quality fabrics. Check out their sales!
