According to The French Chic expert, Marie-Anne LeCoeur, elegant women don’t do overly sexy or overly casual, but find an understated and timeless rhythm in their style.
In this episode, Marie-Anne shares brilliant insights from her books and RUclips channel that we all can use to elevate our style and confidence no matter where we live in the world. This is important because when we look good, we feel good.
    Tune in and learn:
-Why getting ready is easy when you love every piece you own.
-How to reduce the clutter and make your wardrobe work for your busy life. Style should be both beautiful and practical.
-Why you deserve to feel comfortable and unforgettable in your own skin. Style is not only about what you wear but how you feel. Discover your unique confidence that will carry you through the ages.
-Could you imagine getting more outfits from a smaller wardrobe? It’s possible when you shop with versatility in mind.
-French Chic Style is not about breaking the bank to look good. It’s about finding those signature pieces that work for you and investing in fewer yet more effective wardrobe elements.

I love Marie-Anne’s YT channel and have all her books! She shows the way to not just to French, but to have Euro style, which is so much better than that here in the US. If we have a “style” at all! I don’t want to wear our “style”, black and gray ratty gymwear everyday, everywhere. I wear proper day clothes, I can’t stand all that sweaty polyester and Spandex of gym clothes, for one thing.

I have followed Marie-Anne for about 5 years. I am French Canadian, but feel that I really relate to everything that she says.
Ever since I was a child I loved fashion. I would be so interested in what women were wearing to church, to shopping, to dinner.
I feel that many women do not put much thought into what they wear these days.
Every woman should follow Marie-Anne, read her books, or even take her course!!

I’ll be taking Marie-Anne’s courses now that I have recovered from the financial damage of the pandemic. I also had to buy a whole replacement wardrobe this year, which had to come first. Fortunately, my late Mom taught me all about choosing quality clothes and accessories as a little girl, in addition to all her domestic skills.

I would suggest that the difference in style, or the perception of a North American woman's lack of style, is more due to convenience. If I'm going to the gym and wearing my "flowery yoga pants" (leggings) and then running errands before returning home, I'm not going to change into street clothes. Believe me, when I used to workout at 6:00!AM before driving to work for the day, I had a complete wardrobe change either from the gym or for home to dress. But now, ax a retired person I sometimes feel like I'm living in the Victorian era having to change multiple times a day. It's exhausting! And, I would also suggest that the style trend of wearing running shoes is also one born out of convenience especially when walking around in comfort and haste as opposed to having to change from heels. On the difference of makeup, although i find a red lip no makeup look garish on myself, absolutely the more natural look is more pleasing rather than the, in my view, the clownish, mask look of painted on eyebrows and so on, prevalence in North America.

It’s just as convenient to put on a nice outfit as a gym outfit, I do it every day.

Don't know where you live but with the price of gas and distances in Canada - ya I don't walk 5k to get to one stop then another for the next - I'm driving around in one huge cirle either before the gym or after. 😉

Just bumped into your video. Great initiative. Once upon a time we had a society who took pride in dressing with dignity, going hand in hand with courtesy. We just have to watch the archive videos of the first half of the previous century till the 1980s and read some of the comments.
I'm sorry, but French women (and men) are no longer chic, because French manufacturing and fashion houses have been deliberately decimated in favour of a more universal, American and Anglo-Saxon business model, such as chain shops and casual sportswear. Mainstream media, media personae, American pop artists, reggae artists, mass tourism encouraging sloppiness and grunge style.
Moreover, the changeover from the French franc to the euro eroded most of the population's purchasing power, leaving them unable to afford what had become a luxury overnight : no more that pretty dress from XXX and that splendid scarf from YYY. Too expensive!
As every day becomes the same in this society that is losing its marks, "people do not even dress up to attend events such as the opera, the theatre, etc." a Parisian boutique owner told me.

Great suggestion Michelle. I will check that out. In my book club we read the Lost Art of the Dress by Linda Przybyszewski. Sometimes I start to think that the care and attention we give what we wear, can significantly impact our self-confidence, which leads to other issues. I love your phrase "dressing with dignity." Thank you for sharing.

Fit is so important! I love clothes that skim my shape with just a bit of ease, not squeezing. The biggest style mistake I see American women make is wearing clothes that are too small/tight. There shouldn’t be any horizontal strain lines anywhere, size up if that happens. When we are bursting out of clothes, it makes us just look fat. The reverse is equally important, too-large, oversized and boxy clothes make us look bigger, too.

A 30-minute or longer daily walk is all one needs to stay slim and healthy, I walk about 60-90 minutes, six days a week. If I have to drive somewhere to exercise, it doesn’t get done, parking is a nightmare, for one thing.
