  • YES! The iRig Pre 2 works just fine with Android (Specifically here with a Samsung Note).
The iRig Pre 2 is a great addition to your mobile recording gear chest. At around 50 bucks, it's perfect for using high-quality mics to plug into your iPhone, Android, or DSLR camera. You can even record to a mobile DAW as well. Here, I'm pairing it with my Shure SM57.

You don't need phantom power for dynamic mic brother it's required for condenser microphones

Thanks for the video! Can Irig pre 2 be used for perfomance or only for recording?

Why does the XLR socket wiggle? Seems like there's too much movement in the female XLR socket when you connect mic 🎤 cable. Is there a reason for that? Or is it a defective structural issue?
    I still want and iRig Pre2 though😁.
5:40 into the review video below demonstrates unstable XLR socket

Hello! I think it could be a defective issue, honestly.

Watched it twice because of the guitar. I wanted to know if you can connect irig to a laptop.

Is this IRig thing the device you're going to need to connect the shure57 directly to phone? (have an Android). Got a splitter with 2 ports (3.5 Jack- one for headphones, the other to connect XLR mic). It will only pick up audio coming from phone but it seems as if the external mic is not connected (although it is).
That's why I'm commenting lol... Troubleshooting everything and couldn't find anything wrong... can this IRig fix it? Thank you 🤗

@@paxosmassage5594 UPDATE: I ended up getting a TASCAM IXZ and connected it to my Android with the ShureSM57.... AUDIO WAS WAY WAY TOO LOW... So in essence I wasted my money and time. Did some more research and learned that the best audio interface for what I'm trying to do is the SHURE MVI. Just snatched it up from Ebay for like $80.
Even folks in the reviews are saying that if you have a SHURESM57.. the shuremvi interface is KEY. Still waiting for it to get in the mail. I have been for months going crazy just try to hear my own voice in this damn mic through my phone.
Hopefully once this damn thing gets here everything will work exactly as expected.
If IT DOES WORK 100% .... I will be sure to drop you an update here directly

Lovely review, thanks for posting, I got one question please, do you use phantom power on to your dynamic shure?

Dynamic mics never use phantom power , unless your using something like a cloud lifter or fethead with it
