As someone with 4c hair I definitely feel like it's alot easier to handle when your hair is either mid length or long because when it's short, first of all the shrinkage is embarrassing and second you cant throw it into a quick hairstyle. I once had my cut but then I grew it out to about Skye's length probably a tad bit shorter but still long. And tbh I love it. I've always admired your hair in Jesse and I still do. To all the ppl arguing in the comments, her hair texture is 4c and is just like mine. This is what 4c hair looks like when it's long and has been stretched in case you didn't know. It's nowhere near 4b.
It's 4b/4c. She said herself that her front is a looser texture. Another RUclipsr by the name of Curly Kinks Natural did an in depth video about the difference between 4b and 4c. 4c is really tight. But most naturals have a mixture of curls anyway.
Pro tip: •know your hair texture & porosity •protective styles...there are natural hair styles that are protective styles •Deep condition before your next protective style •oil your hair then leave it alone!! (I know some people don’t like this but...to each their own) Note: not all oils promote hair growth. Some oils seal while some penetrate. Many will not work if your hair is dry. It will seal in the dryness!! •Don’t just wash your hair, massage your scalp😉 •cold water when washing •Trim damaged ends when needed...some people say you’re supposed to get a trim every 6-8 weeks but if you don’t need it don’t do it Reminder: your hair grows from the root not the ends...there is no way to “rejuvenate” or “save split and damaged ends. •Do length checks less often so you can see more drastic changes...(that’s what I do but again...to each their own) •Take vitamins if needed. •If you take birth control then pay attention to side effects. Some medications can cause hair loss. •wash your hair less often. •check your the “ingredients” of your product. *brands make more money if your hair stays damaged. Check for alcohols in conditioners and leave in products! •I do not know that much about chemical treatments on hair but from research that I’ve done...you have to keep up with the treatments and be more sensitive with your hair. Again I don’t know much because I barely scratch the surface on that but...yeah🙂
First of all, the girl said she had heat damage! If you've _ever_ damaged your natural hair, then you *know* that heat damage can make you hair look as if it was tex-laxed, if it is damage enough, no matter the texture. Secondly, Skai said she has her hair blown out most of the time. 🙄 This is why a lot of folks don't like and subscribe to that *stupid* hair typing chart [3c, 4a, 4b, 4c etc.,]. It was not made for *_afro_* textured hair in the first place! Okay. The woman who *originally* created it, did so *_without_* including afro textured hair types in the chart. Later on, black folks added their own hair types to the chart. However, If you know about natural hair, then you know that naturals have *multi-textured* hair! Very rarely will you see any hair type with just one type of hair texture. If you think about it, there is sections of your hair that is easier to manage than other sections. Why? Because, even if it doesn't seem like it, it is a *_different_* texture than other sections of your hair or mixed with a little of a different texture. Afro hair has *_multi textures._* 😊
While I agree with your statement. You still can describe the hair with the chart. Yes you can have 2-3 textures in your hair but you can also label it. “The front is more 3c while the back is more 4a”. Nothing wrong with using a chart to describe your texture. and even then.. There is still more that goes into knowing your hair. Whats the porosity? Whats the density? Whats the elasticity? Your texture is only a part of it. xoxo
@@hickszn exactly. you haven't seen every strand of her hair have you? She knows her hair texture and you can't tell what it is just by looking at it in a video
Guys her hair is 4c hair. How I know is that her hair is really similar to mine. As she said in the video, the front and back are soft, and the middle is more coarse and heavy. My hair is also like that. The only difference is that her hair is longer than mine and when the hair is longer, the curls elongate so they look more of a 4b, 4c kinda curls than when your hair is short. Also, to remind the people who are saying her hair is not 4c, please remember that her hair has in products that have been in there for over a week, so the curls are going to look more defined. And I don't get how people are saying her hair is not 4c. Do you have her hair to tell her that? If she says that her hair is 4c then it is. Respect it and don't go against it.

technically everyone is mixed with something unless your ancestry is completely from africa. like i am completely from a specific country in africa so i am 100% african. but most black people in america are not like that so their hair will be slightly different than mine. but yes i agree that some people can be toxic just because natural hair is long
your probably not going to see this but almond oil is a sealing, not a moisturiser so when your deep conditioning put the oil in your hair after you put your moisturiser in. Basically deep conditioner then oil
Why is everyone so insistent on being 4c? Like, y’all know most of us type 4s have a mix of all three types right? Also, makes your curls pop and it strengths your hair! - black castor oil: I usually use this for my edges or when I’m styling my hair into mini twists or braids. - co-wash: for days that you don’t feel like doing a complete wash day and it reduces the amount of moisture and oils bing stripped from your hair. This could be like every two weeks and then monthly you use the shampoo/conditioner because you do need shampoo to remove the dirt etc. -doing hair in sections when washing/drying/styling -finding gels that don’t cause your hair to flake so easily - finding the right leave in and styling products (there’s a test you can do to make sure the two products combined don’t flake in ur hair. Basically you mix the two products together on your palm and if it starts to get hard or develop little pieces it’s gunna flake and they don’t mix well. But if they mix well and the mixture is smooth, it’s a good combo) good luck on your natural hair queen❣️

Skai you said you wanted advice for your 4C hair and I strongly recommend just using water and grease for your twist/braidouts! Our mommas used grease on our hair when we were young and our hair was always so healthy and long! That's because grease locks the moisture in effectively. It's also good for combatting humidity since it acts as a protectant on top of the hair! People made up this notion that grease is bad for your hair... it's not. It may not be good for type 3 or 2 hair but for type 4 hair it is a godsend because it can actually hold the moisture in our thick and kinky hair. Those creams and lotions work for looser curls, but my hairstyle would only last for a day. With water and grease, my hair lasts for an entire week. I've never looked back since!
Grease dont do good for me it just cause build up in my hair..she can use leave in conditoner..water and probably oils depending if she has hair that already produces oil
I use the melanin products she mentioned and the combination of the twisting cream and the oil is wonderful. The oil actually seals, but it’s light and does not leave a residue that can come off on pillow cases like the heavier greases. After wearing my hair in twists for two weeks, I take my twists out and my twist out is perfect. My hair is healthy and moisturized.

Once I figured out we had the same hair type I was confident because that let me know that there was so much I could with my natural hair.
My hair is short😢 and the shrinkage is annoying, how can I grow my hair?
@Goodness💞 leave your hair alone, retain length= no breakage =long hair, moisturize using L.O.C method or L.C.O

Pro tip:
•know your hair texture & porosity
•protective styles...there are natural hair styles that are protective styles
•Deep condition before your next protective style
•oil your hair then leave it alone!! (I know some people don’t like this but...to each their own)
Note: not all oils promote hair growth. Some oils seal while some penetrate. Many will not work if your hair is dry. It will seal in the dryness!!
•Don’t just wash your hair, massage your scalp😉
•cold water when washing
•Trim damaged ends when needed...some people say you’re supposed to get a trim every 6-8 weeks but if you don’t need it don’t do it
Reminder: your hair grows from the root not the ends...there is no way to “rejuvenate” or “save split and damaged ends.
•Do length checks less often so you can see more drastic changes...(that’s what I do but again...to each their own)
•Take vitamins if needed.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness
My mom really just washes my hair and parts it in 4 parts and blow dries it- takes an hour or 2
That is the absolute truth! That's exactly why I always do mine on a different day than my other sisters because I wash theirs as well.
Afro hair has *_multi textures._* 😊
leaked tape buddy
While I agree with your statement. You still can describe the hair with the chart. Yes you can have 2-3 textures in your hair but you can also label it. “The front is more 3c while the back is more 4a”. Nothing wrong with using a chart to describe your texture. and even then.. There is still more that goes into knowing your hair. Whats the porosity? Whats the density? Whats the elasticity? Your texture is only a part of it. xoxo

Tips that I found along the way of my natural hair 4c hair:
- wild growth oil is gr8 for growth (apply like 3-4 times a week) I also use this to take out my hair when I do a braid out
- Aztec clay/Aloe Vera: g8 for pre shampoos and reduces the moisture that the shampoo strips away.
-doing hair in sections when washing/drying/styling
-finding gels that don’t cause your hair to flake so easily
- finding the right leave in and styling products (there’s a test you can do to make sure the two products combined don’t flake in ur hair. Basically you mix the two products together on your palm and if it starts to get hard or develop little pieces it’s gunna flake and they don’t mix well. But if they mix well and the mixture is smooth, it’s a good combo)
good luck on your natural hair queen❣️

Can you recommend any hair grease?
Grease dont do good for me it just cause build up in my hair..she can use leave in conditoner..water and probably oils depending if she has hair that already produces oil
I use the melanin products she mentioned and the combination of the twisting cream and the oil is wonderful. The oil actually seals, but it’s light and does not leave a residue that can come off on pillow cases like the heavier greases. After wearing my hair in twists for two weeks, I take my twists out and my twist out is perfect. My hair is healthy and moisturized.
You have beautiful hair; it's so thick and full. And you keep doing what you are doing. It takes time to learn your hair, and I can tell from this video that you've learned a lot since you've been doing it yourself.

Everyone's hair is different even if you have the same hair type. My stepmom went to school for hair and says she has 4c, you cannot argue with someone over there own hair type. All types of hairstylist have told her she has 4c hair and have worked with her hair, you have not. She has even said that in the video. Have a seat babe😙💀.
@@gabby6152 4c hair doesnt not curl or get waves when wet like hers did. 4c reacts differently when wet. That what makes it 4c hair. Its not solely about how it looks. Its more to do with how it reacts to being wet and dry. You need to educate yourself as the fact you mention how healthy hair looks shows you have no clue. That is not 4c that is 4b. My hair before relaxing in natural state was healthy, thicker and longer than hers. Healthy hair is not an accomplishment. It’s actually the norm now for alot of bw. I said what i said for a reason. Go RUclips 4c hair. There are plenty youtubers with long thick actual 4c hair. Not this clickbait stuff. All types of stylists said her hair was 4c, yeah the same ones that gave her that bald patch in the middle of her head. 🤣 who probably haven’t even professionally educated themselves on hair. Lets be real.
@@arp5546 its a lot. anyway...She said in the video that one stylist gave her the bald spot lmao if all the people who've styled her hair gave her bald spots she would have them all over her head. Yeahhhhhh bc most ppl who have done Skai Jacksons hair aren't professionals. Totally bc they wouldn't even be able to do a celebrates hair. yup😐. If you watch the show 'Jessie' she participated and acted when she was younger you can see she clearly has 4c hair compared to all the other cast on the shows. Yes just bc ur hair looks a certain way doesn't mean that's ur hair type, I agree. Just bc I said her hair is health bc she takes care of it doesn't mean I have no clue about hair. Justtttt dont tell someone there own hair type just bc u see it over a damn screen. Maybe touch her hair style her hair etc then that's when u can talk.. or don't tell her she's wrong about her hair type just cuz u see it off a video recorded iPhone.
Not y’all arguing about her hair texture she knows her hair texture babes
Ikr, these hair typing arguments are exhausting
I have absolutely straight hair but this was so relaxing to watch. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend lol
Saw this and haaad to click, I’ve admired her hair for many years.
Girl! Your 4C hair is so beautiful, healthy and thick. Love to see it 🤗

A tip for the smell of the rice water... is to use orange or lemon peels in your water. It will have a better scent and it reduces dandruff on your scalp.
For how long do you boil the rice and orange or lemon peel
@@ramatracy1132 you could either boil it for 30 mins or leave it overnight
@@aziahsmith379 with the rice or just add the water you boiled it in into the water?
@@kumaniasha with the rice
i finally found someone with the EXACT same hair as me. my hair does the exact same thing. almsost the same length. like pls continue with the hair vids cause you are really the only one ik that hair 100% acts the same as mine 😭 its tiring. ive been natural all my life and its tiring
She is helping everyone who has 4c hair too. Thank you Skai. ❤❤

Definitely 4c, looks like it's heat trained as well and possibly some 4b in the front. Lovely. my daughter is learning her hair as well.
I have been waiting for this moment all my life literally 💀

I have 4c hair too and it’s definitely a job . I’m 16 and still have my mom blow dry it 😂
Same
I'm 18 and my hair is an inch and a half at most and I can't blow dry it well at all 😭
We have the EXACT same type of hair. My hair is also softer in the front and more denser and thicker in the middle and back.
To prevent the smell of the rice water itself, put peppermint oil in it (A LOT OF IT) and it should prevent the rice water and your hair from smelling bad
Silly me 👀 I thought celebrities got their hair done at the salon ALL THE TIME. 💁🏾♀️
I hope that was a joke
@@Seedney-ny1od They literally get paid to look good. Do you think Beyoncé is doing her own hair everyday? 😂
@@ihateyoukash yes I do
Not not skai , you can tell when she was a kid they was taking care of her hair, she has been just about natural or natural looking since she was young , they dont know how to take care of natural unless its in a weave. Zendaya , Raeven Chyna Ann CoaCoa Aqua like all them BLACK GIRLS had to just about wear weaves cus the company and stylist are ignorant, ESPECIALLY ON DISNEY CHANNEL . . It was evident that her moms took care of her from the jump .
@@Seedney-ny1od Then you aren't a follower of big celebrities. If black women don't have a wig on they usually have professional stylists doing their hair and makeup every time they set foot outside. Except for on weekends or when they aren't working of course.
lmao the end with your mom talking about doing your own hair i feel you girl.
Of all the people that would come to mind when I think of who could help me on my 4c natural hair journey, miss former-jessie-and-bunk’d-star did not come on the list. But I’m so glad it popped up 😂 LOVE YA SKAI 👸🏾
