Yes, you can absolutely use my basics chocolate cake for the raspberry cake, too. You can even use the same recipe I have listed, just replace the buttermilk with milk. You can do this for most of my recipes. Enjoy! :)

You can replace them with simple syrup (1 cup boiling water + 1/3 cup sugar) and add a few teaspoons of extract to the simple syrup! You can also use juice :)

Sure, you can make this as a vanilla cake instead. Simply omit the cocoa powder, you don't need to replace it with anything. You can replace the melted chocolate with white chocolate, or omit it all together. Enjoy!

Yes! You can add up to 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and up to 1/2 cup cocoa powder. If you add more cocoa powder, remove 2 tbsp of flour from the recipe.

I'm so glad you enjoy my recipes! :) 9-inch pans have an increased volume of 25%, so you'll need to make 1 1/4 portions of the recipe. It will be easier to make 1 1/2 portions of my original recipe though, you'll get beautiful layers! :)

Hi Jasina! No, this is not a mistake. A US customary cup is not a measure of weight but of volume, so every ingredient will convert differently. 1 US cup of sugar will weigh 200 g; 1 cup of raspberries weighs 125g. Hope that makes sense!

I tried the cake and have to say the cake is dense and dry and thickness made it not delicious. I think since it's so dense and dries up because of the addition of chocolate chips, it needs to be made as 6 layer cake or cut off substantial top part of each cake to make layers thinner. My cakes didn't dome to slice off tops as I topped them with fresh raspberries before baking. Thinner layers would have made it delicious. Alternate layers with raspberry filling and icing layers.
Hi! If your cake layers turned out dry, they most likely were over-baked. Since every oven bakes a little differently, perhaps try reducing the baking time or your oven temp. Also, make sure your baking soda and baking powder are fresh and not expired. It's recommended to replace these every 2 to 3 months. Hope these tips help!
Am keto with pre diabetes and fatty liver so can relate. Although I made a sugar free gluten free chocolate cake and ganache the other day so you can still enjoy desserts just a little differently.
