      The most OFFENSIVELY talented backcourt ever in terms of pure talent / skill level.
      Both are capable of running championship-level offense as the #1 option with both scoring AND facilitating. Both are top-tier closers.
      No other backcourts meet that criteria. (Maybe Frazier and Monroe?) Steph & Klay / Zeke & Dumars are close, but Klay and Dumars are natural #2 options with limitations as facilitators.
      If you bring defense into consideration, it's a slightly different discussion, but still, these two are special.
      EDIT: LOL I should watch the video all the way through before commenting... just listened to you say everything I was thinking. Great stuff Jonny.

    The fact that people tried to restart the "Edwards is MJ's son" narritive, again, even after the relatively poor performence in game 7 against Denver as well as the first 3 games against Dallas, all because he had one half decent performance in game 4 really puzzled me. People just need to stop calling people the next MJ all together, it has never been beneficial to a young star to compare them to the GOAT, you're just setting him up for failure.

    I feel like Boston is the better team, but I do trust Luka and Kyrie way more than I am willing to trust Brown and especially Tatum. • @Davivd2
      @Davivd2 5 месяцев назад +3

      Honestly, it shouldn't even start because besides some highlight dunks, the overall style of play isn't comparable. No matter what the age. I watched ANT break free last night, drive down the lane and in a situation where Jordan and Kobe, at any age in the NBA, would have gone straight to the bucket to score or draw a foul, he kicked it out. ANT does that in situations where Jordan and Kobe would only kick out on a double team, and neither Jordan or Kobe would be creating space in ISO to shoot a step back 3. The comparison should never have happened to begin with. Honestly, 99 percent of comparison's never should because they end up turning the younger player into a disappointment somehow. The only time that I've seen a player compared to another player and it came close was Kobe and MJ. People should really just stop it and let ANT be ANT. He's not the next MJ or the next Kobe, and he doesn't need to be. He's exciting being ANT.

    The thing to watch in the finals is who Luka is going to guard. How Luka is going to react playing both ends of the court. Luka didn't have to do anything special on defense against the Wolves. Against Boston he's going to have to guard either Jalen Brown or Jayson Tatum. Those guys are going to make him work on Defense. Even Kyrie is going to have to do more work on the defensive end guarding Jrue Holiday. Will Luka and Kyrie be able to put out all time great iso performances for 4 out of 7 games, while having to guard serious offensive threats? The answer to that question is the key to the series because Dallas doesn't have much to lean on offensively other than "give the ball to Luka and Kyrie and get out of the way". Also, it's not only a homecoming for Kyrie to Boston. Kristaps Porzingas is coming back to Dallas after being traded away because Luka wanted him gone. If Porzingas is healthy, he can be an X factor and he was great during the regular season.

    Celtics had the same advantage two years ago against gsw. Best defence in the league with JT and JB balling out against (non injured east teams). Boston always had one problem: their superstars couldn’t match the opponents superstar. Curry killed them and I don’t see why both Luka AND Kyrie can’t do it. Nevertheless Boston is legit although not battle tested and with the addition of KP they have a advanced version of the OKC offense imo. The difference is that sga is better than Tatum but brown is better than Williams

    I think the Finals will be quite interesting. Injuries will play a big role for sure. I like Luka and Kyrie better than Tatum and Brown, but the rest of the Celtics team is better and more experienced than what the Mavs can muster, especially if Porzingis returns. Tough to call, but I think it the Jrue-Kyrie matchup will be the key. If Kyrie gets slowed down, or God forbid, rattled, Boston will have the series in the bag. Otherwise it will be very competitive. I expect either a quick Boston takeover or a ground-out Dallas victory.

    Kyrie & Steph should've been the rivalry the league pushed instead of Steph & LeBron. LeBron's rivals are & KD, Kawhi & Giannis (Luka would've been a great rival, but they're at different spots of their careers). Also, I want Kyrie & Jason Kidd to win & I want this Boston team to be solidified as a great team. Hopefully, it'll go 7 games & I'll pick who I want to see win more in game 7.

    Boston won both regular season games against Dallas (all stars were healthy and played large minutes). Boston had a 23-7 record against the West, whereas Dallas had a 19-11 record against the East. Boston really looks like the favorite in this series but we'll see if Luka and Kyrie's magic can turn the tables.

    • @aaroneisenman6873
      @aaroneisenman6873 5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, those games aren't the indicators that Boston Fans think they are. Both Games were before this current rotation was sorted out.
      Neither Gafford nor DJJ played significant mins (7 & and 6, respectively), in the game after the trade deadline. DJJ is a far better defender than Hardaway ever was, while giving similar offensive production. Gafford is a better true center, allowing Maxi to defend the 4 vs being a Small ball center. Also Lively has grown alot since then too.
      Also Luka and Kyrie have shown they are decent defenders in their own right. While yes they are never going to be elite, Dallas has created a defensive system that plays to their strengths.
      It's going to be a good series, likely 7 games, with each team winning aleast one road game. I could see the individual games going either way, with the role players being the determining factors. If PJ and DJJ are hitting their 3s, while limiting Tatum and Brown Dallas will win. If not, Luka and Kyrie I don't think are good enough on their own to beat Boston more than once or twice.

    as a celts fan i obviously want the celts but as a luca fan.. and my disgust for how he is treated I hope he makes it a 7 game series.
    I like tatum but I dont believe he is in lukas league... I would trade anyone to get luka to Boston... if luka wins or takes it to 7 he will win the MVP next yr as a make up if he is in the top 3.
    If porzingas plays there is zero reason why the celts should lose.. they just have way too much firepower... 3 legit scorers with a couple others that can get theirs as well... better d... so if luka beats that team then it would be hard not to put him at the top of the league... and if the celts lose with all these advantages then as good as tatum is it will kill his claim for being top 5... now if games are close and brown and tatum can out clutch luka and kyrie.. that would do wonders for them... luka is basically in a no lose situation... he wasn't supposed to get past OKC let alone Minnesota...
    as far as narratives you talked about kyrie going back to boston but you completely forgot porzingas going back to Dallas.
    equally worth noting....

    I am rooting for the Mavs because I love Luka. And although Kyrie isn't so friendly towards some Jewish issues or Israel, I find him very intelligent and likeable, and a great player. But. I have no idea who will win this. It will be an epic matchup. I think they're better than when they lost last year (or the year before), but the Mavs played better than the Nuggets did against Minnesota. So who knows. I know I am looking forward to it. I like the Celtics. Just to me they don't excite me like the Mavs. Luka to me has things even Jokic can't do and I thought he was the MVP. Edwards is great but he's not Jordan. Don't even think he's Kobe.
