  • Here we have another definitely underrated album, the second album "Mortal Throne Of Nazarene" from US Death-Doom Legends, Incantation. This album suffers from a slightly disappointing mix and mastering which caused such divisions within the band, that all but the great John McIntee went their separate ways. A reliable Death Metal offering which includes some solid and diverse tracks, this is essential listening for fans of Incantation, Autopsy, Vital Remains and Obituary.
What are your thoughts on this underrated gem? Let me hear you!

Thanks for the heads up. I''ll definitely check Mortal Throne of Nazarene out although Brutal Death Metal is not my cup of tea but I enjoy Death Doom.

@ImnoDOOM7 I actually never really got into SOAD, Nu Metal just doesn't quite do it for me.... I like Disturbed and the more Nu Metal early albums of Slipknot, but that is about all to be honest 🤘

I listen to a lot of Black Metal.
However, variety is the spice of life, as they say, and nowhere is that saying more true than on the visceral, dark, sludgy, hellish Death Metal mastery that Incantation unleashed upon the planet in 1994 with Mortal Throne of Nazarene.
This is a evil album, the kind of thing that makes you wonder if the band sacrificed their souls to Satan to make it, because it just seems so impossible that it could have been made by every-day folks.

I absolutely agree, it is good to know what we do enjoy, but a little variety and change helps to keep things interesting.
I love your description of Mortal Throne Of Nazarene, it is most fitting! It is a truly diabolical album and sounds so incredibly visceral and harsh! A can imagine that Mortal... must have inspired a lot of bands in it's wake to try and emulate that level of utter evil! 🤘

don't think Incantation can complain of being underrated - they're widely acknowledged as death metal royalty. There are countless death metal bands living and dying in complete obscurity

@lordfoxtrot8330 maybe not, but I certainly feel that Incantation deserve wider appreciation. You are absolutely right though, there are so many excellent bands that exist and cease in the depths of the underground, but I will try to cover as many worthy bands as I can, both wider and lesser known 🤘
