Beautiful playing from a very talented hard working virtuoso and a humble gentleman.. hes a great example to all the scumbags out there that think being a dickhead is part of being a virtuoso. His humility and spectacular skills bring a whole new level of excellence to guitar playing in the new age.
FunForAllTheFamily10 yes he is the most humble guy around.. he cames and toured here and everyone hung out with him and he doesnt have a stuck up bone in his body. Whois being a dickhead? Well take look around buddy it seems to be the fashion now adays with people using fake names on the internet and acting like jerks etc..
FunForAllTheFamily10 and your statment that says "I" decided who is humble shows that you are not humble and think that you are hot shit. Plus you call people shet head.. what exactly is "shet?" are you trying to say Shit? Well the you should be humble because your too fucking stupid to spell shit. :) :) :) everyone is laughing out there ass at you .. :) :) you have humiliated yourself :) :) but you dont care your using a fake name and a fake account so you can insult people... why? Because in the real world you are a person who everyone laughs at. Well congratulations they are laıghing at you in the cyber world you "Shet head" hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahah !!! hahahahahahahahah!!hahahahahahahah!'!!
No, he just practices a lot and practise the correct things, like technique, and speed. And don't forget he probably hasn't got a day job, like the rest of us, so he probably practices 5-6 hours a day .
Agreed, this is one that I keep coming back to over the years. That triple octave lick he throws out around 1:00 is so perfectly placed. Soooooo tasty.
1-24 -1:28 the timing and velocity of those notes are incredible, for him to do that while improvising just shows how far ahead he is of himself. Amazing
omg i love him, he lived with my guitar teacher for a while before he was all famous and he used to sit in his room for days just practicing. but if thats what it takes to get like that then fair play, it was all worth it.
This is the video that saved me from quitting guitar playing. I still get all fuzzy and warm inside whenever I watch this. Thank you Mr. Govan and Jamtrackcentral!
I just got back from Steve Vai Academy 6.0 today. Guthrie was one of the main guests. As Steve Vai said, "Guthrie is inhuman on the guitar." He's also a great teacher. I took all of his classes. Unfathomable what this guy does on the fretboard. One guy's phone went off in the class and made a silly notification melody. Guthrie, in almost real time, made a backing track to that phone melody on his Fractal Effects Looper and then proceeded to jam out to it. The class was both laughing and in disbelief at the same time. A true genius! And a VERY nice and humble guy.
I don't know about other people here, but for me, one of Guthrie's wonderful touches is his bending - sometimes very subtle microbends - check out 00:53, very nice. If music was a language, he'd be one of its most elegant speakers.
Absolutely agree. I've learnt a lot from watching Guthrie, but his bends are something that have really hit home. His solo in Steven Wilson - Drive Home is one that I've listened to countless times - it's flawless.
Guthrie is so good I wanna say "shut up! we know you can play" ...but I just wanna hear him play again and again. Truly one of the very, very best in the world. I'm shaking my head in disbelief. :)
It is real pleasure to hear Mr.Govan rocking a strat.I got the great honour to meet him and chat for a bit after one of the Aristocrats shows, and he is a great and humble person, not to mansion his guitar skills. He is a true example how guitar players around the world should act, full respect to him.
its amazing to watch all these incredibly skilled musicians play over "orange jam" and then go back to Govan and see him kill it light years beyond anyone else. That shit is fucking crazy!
Dude...guthrie never plays only one mode..when i hear a guthrie's jam i instantly realize that he achieved the amazingly good keeped secret of playing whatever the fucking note you want over an E chord.
For all of you that aren't serious guitar players, you probably have no idea how fast Guthrie is playing (watch 0:45) and how incredibly difficult it is to do that, especially with laser precision like he does. Of all the world-class elite guitarists out there, I don't think anyone can outplay Guthrie. His technical skill and ability to improv are utterly phenomenal.
1:36 I mean come on man. How the heck did he get that lick out of his mind. Absolutely ridiculous. Best guitarist ever without any shadow of a doubt. Absolute wizard. Long live King Govan
Nick Merrick Another place to see good harmonics is Joe Satriani's "Hordes of Locusts" in the verses, lots of left-hand hammer-on-pull-offs whilst gently sliding the fleshy part his right hand up and down the bridge area of the strings, generates a large variety of harmonics. Honourable mention of course to almost anything Steve Vai does, especially "Frank" and "Bad Horsie".
Someone say 'no soul' ! This tracks has more than any other Guthrie Govan. Very soulful indeed. Nice inflexions. Those harmonics at the end. How the heck he do it.
I've been living in this world for 34 years and never known how melodies could be this beautiful until I found your and Jack Thammarat's playings. Never get enough of your works. Thank god he sent these talents.
series of pull-offs whilst using the pinky finger to produce muted harmonics between the bridge and middle pickup. I still have trouble with this, touch has to be damn near perfect.
that face in the end just says it all. To me it says "I've got all of your attention and I'm the coolest guy in the room". That you are Guthrie, That. You. Are.
This guy continues to amaze, present him with a change of musical style or guitar sound and he doesn't blink, it just seems to inspire him all the more.
The more I learn about this dude, the more I appreciate his talent. I am not a main stream guitar fan and I majored in guitar. He is surely an incredibly talented super player.
I‘ve kept coming back to this video over the past years. I should know what to expect, yet I am here once again puzzled how its even possible to create something so utterly perfect. He is really telling a story
Met the guy for the first time today at my uni, he did a absolutely amazing masterclass, and is by far the most down to earth guy iv'e ever had the pleasure to meet =D, He's also by far the best guitarist ever!
@ShredFever92 I go Walsall Uni, he just kinda popped in an gave a masterclass before he had to go to birmingham an do one there, i believe my jaw hit the floor when i heard he was coming, and just as i was recuperating it hit the floor again when he played....i haven't recovered, an dammit am i glad
I become totally speechless everytime I watch this clip. I simply can not find the right words to describe how good this is..... This is by far the best sounding jam I have ever heard in my life!
I can't wait til people stop trying to point out mistakes or "wrong notes" and just sit watch and listen to the talent and feel that this guy and so many others generate. Pointing out mistakes on videos like these just means people need to go outside for a while and take a break from the computer.
If you watch closely you will notice that sometimes Guthrie is so fast with those little runs that even his shadow has a hard time keeping up. Just frickin Awesome.

FunForAllTheFamily10 hes the guitarist we've all been waiting for
FunForAllTheFamily10 I was trying to make a shitty Jesus second coming joke lol nvm
You've just witnessed one of the greatest pieces of modern music
No matter how often most of us may practice we will not be as good as this guy ... he has been blessed from above with a phenomenal gift !
You can do everything he can... Believe in yourself.... You can.
@@amos8572 Thanks for the positivity !
Definitely agree with you man

I think that Guthrie is the best guitarist in the game right now
8 years later and I still agree with you.
@Devang Deshpande It's been four weeks and I agree.
@@guthrie1181 He will only get better over time lol

Best guitar playing I've ever seen

yeah. his bends and sides are outstanding!
agreed. he has caused me to be more aware and accurate while bending
Absolutely agree. I've learnt a lot from watching Guthrie, but his bends are something that have really hit home. His solo in Steven Wilson - Drive Home is one that I've listened to countless times - it's flawless.
He also happens to be one of the most elegant speakers with just plain old words. But I agree, he's not too shabby with musical expression either. =)
well kinda music is language ...one thing i like about Guthrie is how he combine fast playing with slow playing
This Guy is not human, how can anybody play this clean, fast, and tasteful at the same time; and he is playing many different genre within his solo???
Guthrie is so good I wanna say "shut up! we know you can play"
...but I just wanna hear him play again and again. Truly one of the very, very best in the world. I'm shaking my head in disbelief. :)
This guy is very quickly becoming my favorite guitar player. He just blows my mind every time
R.I.P. Guthrie, one of the greatest of all times.
It's like 4 AM in England right now so I hope Guthrie is having a peacefull resting.
The mix of techniques, phrasing and ideas in this solo and the fact that it's improvised is just miraculous. He truly is Guitar Jesus.

Guthrie is a beast
that ending! Awesome!
Don't think of 1:20 as a lick! It's just pure improvisational brilliance.
It's like his guitar literally spoke to me with that small little phrase. Amazing.
Lewis Jones Yeah man!
Guthrie is guitar genuis. He has taken guitar playing to another level and beyond. I Just love watching him play. Guitar genius.
Didnt you say guthrie is an "average guitar player" on another video? Lmfao hypocrite
@@jarrod4115 yes, that's correct
@@david-ky7rt "Guitar genius" and "average guitarist" which is it? Lol make up your mind
You can actually see him singing the phrases to himself. That's the sign of a true improviser!

I think Guthrie is one of the best guitarists in the world!
I can listen to this million times!! Ear gasm ❤️✌🏼
Just a God
Went and came back. Brilliance is still shared across the genome. Enjoy one of the most marvelous expressions.
When his tone was at his best!
guthrie should make a song out of it...i cant remember how many times ive played this clip cant get enough of it
1:43
Brain Explode
0;00-2;05 for me

***** satriani is the most dope dude, love that guy. ill check it out
0:19 - 0:23
Out of the whole video, the last lick perplexes me, the tone ,sound and feedback he gets as he calmly turns his head in a dream like state.
1:11 How in the name of god do you come up with a run like that?
I can't stop playing orange jam....unbelievable
Ha..this is so amazing, we actually have this guitar also!!! This guy......
his phrasing is ridiculous! so freaking smooth and catchy, he shreds, but in a way that doesn't turn people off completely! so good!!!
0:51 from that he just played Indian classical music beautifully 😵😵
Someone say 'no soul' !
This tracks has more than any other Guthrie Govan. Very soulful indeed. Nice inflexions.

I just can't handle the lick at 0:47
David Julian incredible 😀😀😀
David Julian really too fast :)
Best guitar performance on this planet.
Govan created 30 accounts to dislike this video. That's the only way he can tell us he's not perfect.
I was speechless the instant I heard Code Red. Your masterful delivery is without equal as well as your kind demeanor. Shine on!✨
1:42 what this? o_O
series of pull-offs whilst using the pinky finger to produce muted harmonics between the bridge and middle pickup. I still have trouble with this, touch has to be damn near perfect.

For normal people, it's porn music, for us guitarists, it's porn.
1:22 The only time I've heard Guthrie abandon an idea and start it over while soloing. What an amazing recovery and a fantastic player.
just as I imagine Jesus would play..
This guy continues to amaze, present him with a change of musical style or guitar sound and he doesn't blink, it just seems to inspire him all the more.
Even Chris Broderick's mom would agree that Guthrie Govan is better than Chris
