  • It's been a long time since you guys have seen the reverse trike build but today I'm working on the rear swing arm of the reverse trike. I wanted to rebuild the reverse trike swing arm to accommodate larger street tires. Next reverse trike video I should be adding a shock to the rear and finalizing most of the swing arm as well as adding the front brake calipers. Also let me know what you guys think about swapping the engine, should I keep the cbr600 or replace it with something else?

      Moondyne .Joe, I totally agree. Chris has a talent most spend years of training and apprenticeship to achieve. His work appears to be of extremely good quality and looks like it can hold up to some serious tests. But most importantly he has the vision to build things from scratch. He really needs to use that talent to secure a great living and he seems to enjoy it. I wish him all the best and it’s an honor to be able to watch him at work.

    The secret to when it sits , all you have to do is spray starting fluid in through the airbox towards the carbs. I went through the same thing with my 1996 CBR 900 RR for about 3 years and some dude was at the Honda shop and told me what to do, every since then I spray 2 sprays in it if its been sitting and never had to change the plugs because of flooding or anything else. That's been 5 years and I made it easy to access, it doesn't bother me any. Just thought you would like to know. Keep up the great work and God Bless. 💯💪🏼👍👍🙏🙏✌

Honda Engines are bulletproof. I had 105K on my 600F2 when I bought my 100RR. I never had issues other than a chain tensioner on my F2. I swapped to a Ape manual and never had a problem. 19:50 Just move the engine completely over to line up. No need for a jack shaft or a longer shaft. Also, lower the engine & swingarm pivot. Looks like it can go alot lower. To get a lower center of gravity. While you're at it, 21:12 yes, swap out the engine to something you like.
    Looks like a fun project.

    • @camyota
      @camyota 2 года назад +3

      Can't go much lower or the oil pan will protrude through the bottom. Tilting the engine back would lower it but you have to worry about the oil pickup not getting enough oil. That engine is designed to be tilted forward like that. Moving it over would change where the weight is in the chassis and throw things off.

    • @godspowerbuilds4503
      @godspowerbuilds4503 2 года назад

      @@camyota relocate the engine to make the sprocket match with that of the rear tyre. I had similar experiences while using a car tyre in my reversed trike. A was worried about weight shifting to one side. A Mechanic advised me to do it. And am happy I did it

    Your machining/fab skills are growing so well, such great engineering. One thing I wanted to highlight, most alloy wheels are hub centric, meaning the index from a central radius rather than the lug nuts. If you encounter wheel wobble, it's likely this... well the lack of.

  • @oikkuoek
    @oikkuoek 2 года назад +1

    Just a heads up: That swing arm attachment to the frame is definitely not going to hold. The swing axle needs a full through mounting at the uprights. A choice of material could be the same square tube you used for the arm itself, and can be lightened the same way you narrowed the ends for the axle tube. The upright holes need a tube through to strenghten the attachment, and that polymer can be used as a vibration isolator/slide bearing but it still needs the steel tube to hold it in place. 3mm thickness is more than enough, more will make the swing arm fish tail from side to side. The current gussett will brake loose from the weld after you hit a bump or a pot hole, and no re-enforcing will fix that design flaw.

    I would have gotten the front strut off a small front wheel drive car and modified that to suit the geometry.
    Having a hub and disk brake assembly to suit a car wheel would be stronger and lighter than what you’ve cooked up there.
    On a side note most motorcycles have rubber isolators in the wheel hub to cushion the transmission a bit.
