Love to see the evolution of this series. Really appreciate that you've stuck with many of the items once you realized that they worked for you. Makes the search feel more sincere, compared to simply hopping on board to everything new and shiny.
So glad to hear it! Always love testing new gear when I’m on the hunt for the ‘right’ item, but when something works it always feels great to stick with it long term.
You should check out the Samsung T7 Shield when you need to replace your portable SSD; USB-C 3.2, IP65 water & dust resistant, 3m drop resistance, and has ridges with a rubberized finish for grip. It'd be a perfect fit since you do video editing & like to go backpacking. I have one myself I use to backup important/sensitive digital documents.
This looks great! Remember seeing some content when the T7’s came out but never looked into it. Been wanting another ssd for a bit to repurpose this one for gaming, put in an order! Appreciate the heads up, really looking forward to testing it out.
Such a great bag! Getting that bag was the start of everything I’m doing with YT now. I ended up selling it a few years ago to pay some bills and make space in the closet but it served me well for a long time.
I've got 3 kit outs, depending on my plans. I've got a small pouch that's just big enough to toss my ipad mini in, along with my earbuds, phone, and vape gear for quick OTG. I've got a medium sized backpack with enough room for all that, plus my Ipad Pro and Macbook air Then I've got a large backpack that'll hold everything above, plus my work laptop, a portable monitor, and all the various cables and chargers to go with it. I'm a big efficiency geek, and having it split out this way allows me to only carry as much as I need to do what I need to do
Really enjoying the pack after ordering on your recommendation. My only addition to the pack would be a strap to attach it to a suitcase handle, it feels like a fairly big missed opportunity at the price point but overall super happy, especially with the top quick-access pocket. Thanks for a great video!
Glad to hear the pack is working well for you! I’ve been really enjoying it too. It’s probably a bit too big to use as a personal item bag, but a luggage pass through is always a nice addition since it’s unobtrusive when not in use but still adds the option. Pretty sure they read these comments so hopefully they’ll consider down the road for future bags, thanks for sharing!
Great video on your tech everyday carry. Just bought the bellroy venture ready. Used the link to get the discount code off as well 👍. Keep up the great work 😊
I love the look of the Bellroy Venture Ready 26L. I bought the Bellroy Classic Plus 24L because of the separate laptop pocket and thinking it was more workplace appropriate, but I regret not getting the Venture Ready instead. The Classic Plus has no water bottle pocket, I rarely need my computer to be separate from the rest of my gear (maybe useful only at airport security for my use case), and the style isn’t quite me. Plus, nobody at work cares what my backpack looks like. Maybe I’ll sell the Classic Plus and get the Venture Ready. Thanks for your video!!
Sounds like it might be worth the swap for you! Reselling shouldn’t be too bad, I’ve had decent luck over the years with offer up and eBay. I really like the fabric they’re using in the venture ready and there’s a ton of space inside for 26L
How is back home for me. I recognize the building at 0:07. I am moving back in December from the EU. I am a tech and planner enthusiast. Yeah those water resistant zips come in key where you live. I am new to your channel, and I have just subscribed.
Thanks for the sub and support! Hopefully the move goes smoothly for you, 8 years of living in Oregon for me with no end in sight, the nature and scenery is definitely what keeps me around.
I’ll keep the camera gear in mind for a possible future video! It’s getting a bit up there in age like the laptop, hoping to make some upgrades in the next year or two but we’ll see how it goes.
So cool to check your edc! Love your videos! And, so interesting that you still use a 2018 laptop and an old kindle! My kindle is also hanging on well since 2017 - also gonna use it till it dies!
That’s great! I can’t remember exactly but I think I got mine in 2014, almost 10 years old already. Battery isn’t quite what it used to be but still happy with it overall, curious how long I can make it last at this point. Hoping to replace the laptop at some point soon though if the budget allows but we’ll see, new Mac announcement next week that could make things interesting.
Love the bag, I have been looking at it for a while myself, unfortunately I don't have the money for a new bag at the moment, but I'm saving up to get it. Have you tested it out in the rain, I saw a video if it in the rain, not doing that good? I still love the design, so if it is a problem, I would just bring a lightweight cover for it.
Haven’t had the chance for rain testing quite yet! The zips are covered though which is always a great sign, this style of material is usually quite water resistant as well.
I also have the original Paperwhite and my wife has the new one, and honestly the old one still works great. I thought about upgrading, but I have started to consume more books in audible, so I will join you in seeing how long it can last, 🤣
I have one of the original Kindle with a keyboard at the bottom. I just replaced the battery, and it works fine. I am looking and considering upgrading. But then again, if it is not broke, why replace it? Just that cannot get a new case for it, or a light that is made to go in the said case. Hmm. Decisions
It’s a tough call for sure! Seeing my wife’s new paperwhite in action does make me a bit envious if I’m being honest, haha. The overall operating speed and higher resolution are great, but coming into year 10 with my old one it’s starting to feel like a challenge at this point and being stubborn can be fun too. Definitely need a new computer before the kindle though, we’ll see how it goes!
Hey Josh, love watching you videos for a while now, so greetings from Germany. I can’t find the Larq flig top anywhere, neither on Amazon or the larq website. Is it even available in Europe or Germany?
I assume it should be available but I haven’t checked specifically. Any luck with this link? It was from my last promotion with them: bylarq.com/JF6 I can reach out and ask them sometime soon though too, I would be surprised if it wasn’t a global launch.
Just double checked with LARQ and looked on the site myself, it should be available! I switched the shipping to Europe at the bottom of the page and it showed up as available under the ‘drinkware’ category so the other link should hopefully work for you. Hopefully it’s not a glitch or something but they said it should work fine for you!
Good eye! I threw a link in the video description too if you wanted to see more photos of it, or my most recent edc setup covered it in a lot more detail.
Oh jeez, I watched that EDC video already. I forgot. I think I was looking for other people who use these card holders and that is actually how I found your channel. I was using their bifold wallet which I love and the fabric like you said is magnificent, I just can't stand having a wallet in my back pocket anymore! Anyway, I'll be out here watching your stuff. Really love your videos!
The fabric is so great, just love the overall polish and feel. Probably my current favorite but I still really love the RE:FORM wallets that came out last year, I’d say they have a bit of a leg up with the layout design for my use, but the 3XD fabric on the pioneer just feels so nice. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos, thanks so much for the support!
Dude, you work from home, your edc should be ur phone, sunglasses and keys...maybe your wallet... I dont understand, you finish your work from home, than you take your laptop, kindle, gameboy, powerbank, ext drive and other whatnots... This is a "zombies are on the streets but i still want to maintain my YT channel" edc.
hey josh this is just my personal feedback on your vids, your face and everything on the video looks fade not sharp and i find it disturbing i feel like watching your video at 480p. That is the reason why i mostly skipped your video. But your content is so great I like it! keep it up!
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble watching them! Been really wanting to upgrade my camera and lighting gear to improve the quality, but the upgrades will cost like $10k+ and I just don’t have the cash for it right now.
@@joshfennActually it almost looks like you’re using a diffusion filter. Cause I see what he mean the edges objects looks soft or like the lights behind you look diffused. I personally love cinebloom filters for photography with lights
I’m using an A73 w/ Zeiss Batis lenses. You called it on the filter as well! Been using black pro mist filters for years for the light bloom and softer look. I think the autofocus and 8 bit color are the big weak points right now, when manually focusing the images always look nice and sharp but I move too much to lock focus manually on me and the old AF system is so bad compared to the newer models. The lenses are definitely great, hoping at some point to get 3 A74’s to run a 3 camera setup but between that and a new computer to handle the footage my wallet can’t handle it haha. Been debating removing the pro mist to sharpen up the look but after some recent side by side testing I still think the diffusion adds more than it takes away for the look I’m after.
honestly yeah but i see it like this if i had a company with hyped reputation, overbuilt, bespoke designed bags, and leverage in the community, hell yeah i'd charge a premium on that shit id make bank
I mean at least the 300 bucks get you a functional bag…you can spend 3000 dollars and more on designer bags that don’t even use durable materials or offer functionality, looking at it like that, 300 isn’t all that bad lol

I still use the Timbuk2 Up Town you recommended 5 years ago, and it’s the best backpack I’ve ever had.
Such a great bag! Getting that bag was the start of everything I’m doing with YT now. I ended up selling it a few years ago to pay some bills and make space in the closet but it served me well for a long time.
Hey Josh !!, congrats on the partnership with Bellroy !!, keep doing great reviews of them as always 🎉😎
Thanks so much!
A very satisfying video Josh. Really happy to see it. Looking forward to more vids 😁
Thanks so much! Have a ton coming for the next few months, should be some fun stuff I think.
Good to see you again, Josh!
Happy to be here! On a good streak putting out videos the past couple months, have a lot planned for the rest of the year too!

Finally someone that doesn’t need the latest tech just to make an edc tech video! Tired of the overkill you don’t really need as most youtubers!
Glad you enjoyed it! New tech is always great but holding on to what works is always a good idea

Appreciate the support on this one! Glad you took advantage of the code as well, enjoy the new bag when it arrives!
Josh, I see you found a use for that right-angle flashlight! Perfect application.
For sure! Not my favorite for in hand use but a ton of fun applications for it.
@@joshfenn Just made me chuckle a bit seeing you clip it on the pack. We really do pay attention to your videos..

You follow his onlyfans too??
your cat is adorable!
Thank you!
Great review. Got the Venture Ready Pack 20L (cuz I'm smol lol) with your discount code. Thanks!
Glad to hear it, thanks for the support!
I also still have the original Kindle Paperwhite and my laptop is a 2012 MacBook Pro. I only upgrade devices when I absolutely need to.
My old 2012 MBP is in rotation as well! My wife uses it for basic things and it’s held up great.

Found it on Etsy! Seems to be unavailable now but there are some similar options if you search for ‘industrial lamp’
