I have a Raven ZZ and a Burgundy Rubber plant that both have dark foliage they are so beautiful!

The tiny shoot on your Raven is like a cotyledon. Cotyledons are the first leaves after germination and their function is to get photosynthesising so they can produce energy for the plant to grow more shoots. This is why you may find these shoots can just suddenly die - as they are not needed once the plant sends out the real leaves. So maybe that is a new rhizome there! How old is your Raven, do you know? They have only been in Australia for a couple of years and none are very big yet.

Oh amazing! I will keep an eye out then!
I've had this one for about 2 years but I'm not sure how old it was before I had it :)

Rubber plant live in full sun in nature. They are not black to absorb more light but because the red pigment increases and it looks black.
