I’ve always loved Izzie and Alex together. Something that I’ve longed for but this wasn’t the way to do it. They made his character look very bad and is the oppsite of what Alex has become throughout this whole show.
So true stopped watching after they divorced and happy the ended up together but that wasn't the way? But guess it's bc the actor didn't wanna show up in one more ep.
As in an izzex shipper i can appreciate this video. It highlights the beauty of both relationships without tearing either one down. All while still displaying the hurt Jo now has to face.
Alex practically promised Jo thousands of times that he would never hurt her throughout their relationship, to end up being one of the people who hurt her the most. What a way to ruin one of the characters that has had the best evolution throughout the show on TV, I do not know what Shonda and the writers thought by ruining Alex in that way, 15 years in the trash
After all Justin chamber, the actor of Alex, didn't give them much opportunity, declaring at the last minute his leave from the serie, and refuse any new shoots
Alex's exit was so bad. He would have never left Jo. He had made it clear that while Izzie held a special place in his heart, he had closure on her, and was happy with Jo. I guess in GA world, it's okay to be a bad partner because you get to be happy, but if you're a good partner, you get screwed over. So basically Izzie gets to be happy, Alex gets to be happy, but Jo gets screwed over in the process. Everybody gets to be happy, but Jo has to suffer. She dosn't desvere any of the pain that Alex has caused her, and he would have never treated Jo so poorly, not after everything they been through together. The fact that the writers could screw over one of the strongest couples on the show, just goes to show that no couple is safe.
@MsFriendsfan4ever Don't you get it? As long as a character is still on the show, it won't be happy. Characters that get to be happy are the ones that are not on the show anymore. Either they die or they end up happy ELSEWHERE.
@@kirstenrox234 This is true. Izzie is the one who changed Alex and I also never thought he completely got over her. I do buy that after seeing his children, his love for Izzie came back. What I don't buy is Alex abandoning Jo like that. He would have at least tried to convince her to move with him so that he could be close to his children. They should have made Jo move with him but then realize that Alex's heart was now elsewhere so she leaves him. That would have made more sense.
Well I shipped Alex and Izzie since day 1 and I was really really sad when Izzie left the show. Alex wouldn’t Izzie let go. It was just the fault of the producers of the series. Izzie is his big love. Maybe he loves Jo BUT Izzie is his big love. I love that they got their Happy End. Btw sorry for my bad English

izzie was always the one for alex. the hints were obvious throughout the seasons after she left because he kept mentioning her and I feel like even jo knew deep down that he never got over her when she found out about the embryos. him and jo were cute but it was so forced almost like the writers were desperate for Alex to have a romantic relationship, but nothing could top the chemistry he had with Izzie. killing him off would’ve been even worse as Mer has already lost so many people and they’ve killed off way too many main characters.
The truth is that I don't think that if Izzie hadn't had the twins Alex hadn't gone he had been shown and millions of times he still loved Izzie at some point in the series Alex would have gone with Izzie all that after the call. It was very obvious that he was still in love with her, that she was the love of his life and if she wasn't simply the writers had taken Izzie off the show, and although physically she wasn't still on the show Izzie was still present and especially in Alex's feelings, it was obvious that his story was not over yet and even Shonda said it is the great love of Alex Karev and the truth is that if you are a big fan of Alex you can like Jo but you would be happy of this endgame if not, you're a Jo fan. Although I am huuge Izziex fan I feel bad for Jo she really deseved better so I hope she found someone to stay with her and love her as Alex loves Izzie.
Yeah no. That's not how love works. That's just the crap fed to us on television. Real love, happens when two people work on a relationship. When they cultivate trust, security and comfort. Liking that person, having passion them, doesn't mean their is a deeper love. It's why Izzie and Alex broke up in the first place. I know Katherine Heigl left, but they at least gave a believable exit. I think Alex and Izzie had feelings for each other. I think she got to see more to him. I think they developed a bond. I think they cared for each other and did love each other. But they just were not right for each other. You can fall for someone you shouldn't be with. Its just how our brains work. But he is obviously going to love Jo more. He isn't the same person he was when he was with Izzie. Him and Jo were friends who forged their dynamic. They cultivated a relationship. They actually shared a life. It's clear he was passionate about Izzie and she will always be special to him. But he loved Jo. It's not the love that comes from being soulmates, the one, or a true love. That's all crap people say to justify not working on themselves or staying with the wrong person that you still have feelings for. Jo and Alex were family. What he did to her borders on morally bankrupt. He abandoned her. It doesn't matter how much you "love" another person, you love and care for family. Because you can fall out of love with people. Hell it's why people get divorced left and right. But your supposed to be more than lovers once your married. That is the person, your partner, that you vowed to spend your life with. You work on your marriage. I know he left for his children. Truth be told I would have been happier if hr just left for them, and not to be with Izzie. He left his wife to be with another woman. Even if they are soul mates, it doesn't matter. Because she is his wife.
Mini toast Alex told Jo that he wished getting EVERYTHING he ever wanted didn’t have to hurt Jo in the process. He finally found the happiness that he’s been longing for through Izzie and the kids. “I am finally exactly where I should be. I never had that before.” It sucks that Jo got hurt but it would really suck even more if Alex stayed with her just because she is his “wife”. He loves Jo but staying with her (after finding Izzie and the kids) will be more out of obligation than love. And Jo deserves to be with someone who wholeheartedly loves her. She’ll be okay.

When he was about to die who did he think of? When he and Grey talked about true love, who did he think of? When he didn't know what to do to help Grey who did he call? When he saw the girl that looked like Izzie what did he do? The embryos? Yes, it wrong the way he left Jo, but you can't compare that love that makes you safe (Jo), for that love that you have always wanted, feel and lived trough it. (Izzie) Im glad both of them are together now, we have seen trough the seasons how Alex acted when they mentioned Izzie, he let her go and that was his biggest regret in his life, and now they are together....
ok alex made it very clear throughout the series that he always had a soft spot for lizzie but was over her in season 8 he told mer and christina that he didn't like talking about george bc it reminded him of izzie and made him sad and pre jo he never mentioned her bc like he said it hurt him but as soon as he met jo he started acknowledging her bc he had fully moved on so it wasn't painful anymore that's why in season 11 when call brought up jo he toasted him and said o'malley. When him and mer talked about love that was minutes after jo rejected his 3 proposal wth no explanation and he thought she didn't want to marry him and izzie had he only said that stuff bc he was hurt and mad. and he called everyone to help mer he called arizona,april,callie,christina,addison for the love of god lol. wth the izzie lookalike jo told him to call the real her and he said he didn't want to bc he pictured her as happy as he was wth jo.that line, the look in his eye the tone of his voice just the way he said it screamed closure he pictured her married wth kids you don't think that way about someone your in love wth you just don't he told izzie to leave that he deserved and wanted better he did;t always want izzie that's complete bull if he did he wouldn't repeatedly talk about loving and wanting to be together wth jo. the way he acted he just reacted like the mention of someone from his past who he still had a soft spot for y'all are just reaching now. He didn't leave Jo just for his kids. He left because like he said he was still in love with Izzie. He never got over her. We all have an ex that we still carry a torch for and if you get a second chance to be with them you would. I'm kinda having mix feelings because I'm glad he reunited with Izzie and his kids on one hand but on the other hand I loved him with Josephine too

The editing is SO GOOD. I love how you mixed faster editing with slow moments and the use of overlays is just perfect. It was truly painful to watch and the song was a truly amazing choice.
This video is SO impressively edited, really perfect and beautifully done!! I love how many little Izzie moments you put in here throughout showing them happy, while keeping the focus on Jo's heartbreak and pain, it gave this vid such a different feel than all the other Jo/Alex vids I've seen post 16x16 including the one I made. You captured what she was imagining and dwelling on and made the happiness of him and Izzie painful. You also captured more of Jo's heartbreak, including even jumping back to the episode where she let out her anger by throwing balls with her therapist, and really creatively pieced this whole thing together, text on screen to drive home some of the lyrics that fit SO perfectly in the song you chose, just... all of it. I am so in love with this video. This arc hurt so so much and I will never get over this ghosting plot.
Alex just did her dirty... She didn't deserve no explanation and just being left hanging... When the other couples in Grey's can co-parent and have the weirdest family Dynamics why couldn't Alex do the same ....uggghhhh
I can make peace with Alex leaving Jo FOR his kids and to be a family with Izzie. Because this is something that was really important to him for years. He's wanted that with Jo for a long time and it's never gotten there. So the pull of wanting to be with his kids will be stronger. But in an ideal world, Justin Chambers would have told the powers at be he was planning to leave and instead of the implausible arc we got with Meredith going to jail, we could have had a more drawn out storyline of Alex reconnecting with Izzie. Meeting his kids. Asking Jo to move to Kansas. The ensuing fight and ultimatim. The ensuing fight where Alex confronts Izzie about not telling him he was a dad for 5 years. A reunion between Izzie and Meredith. Maybe even Mer's kids playing with Eli and Alexis. Alex choosing to leave Jo. And finally a real goodbye to all of the (remaining) characters that have shaped him. They could have done that in 8-9 episodes and it would have been controversial but at least it's an arc to the same result. They sowed enough seeds about Izzie and possible children between Jolex that it's not completely left-field but Alex Karev deserved an arc.
As a hardcore Alex and Izzie fan this is what I wanted for them. Even in the letters Alex says if it was just about Izzie and Jo he would choose Jo. Izzie has his kids though and it was the deciding factor for him. It could have been an emotional story arc and I really wish they had done it.
@Papilio well for years i watched alex get over izzie and be head over heels in love with jo. to suddenly pretend he's never gotten over izzie is so insulting. but if you all insist that was the case, then i wonder what you think now? he left jo while still being in love with her, so will he just live happily ever after with izzie and not miss jo every single day? do you all think he just got over her now that he's with izzie? i don't think so. now he will wonder for the rest of his life what he and jo could have been.
God i wanted that for years! But writters didnt want to work with Katherine/Izzie even after all this years, and let be honest Carev/Izzie was a good arc in the first seasons.
Alex leaving Jo for Izzie made me rage almost as bad as when Jamie leaf Brienne for Cercei. Both of the males just getting their character development COMPLETELY tossed out the window.
LOL, please don't mention Jaime and Brienne, that thing made me lose sleep for a month so much I was mad at the writers. At least Alex wrote Jo a letter. Jaime was going to leave Brienne without any final words, nothing, nada. It was only by luck that Brienne caught him at the last minute, else he would have just cruised away and left her hanging. He knows very well how Brienne has been laughed at all her life because of her looks yet he was going to leave her without a word, not even a lame consolation letter saying he's sorry. That was cold AF.
Alex never stopped loving Izzie, I love that they are together and for those who say that Alex left for the children, that doesn't make sense, since if Alex really loved Jo, he would have shared custody. It’s difficult to choose sides. I love Izzie because she is beautiful, but when she walked out on Alex, I hated how selfish she was. Jo is really great and their foundation started so strongly, but in some ways, it is a bit hard for her to stand a chance in front of Izzie. HOWEVER! After what they have been through, Alex is the real jerk to leave her like that.

Sofía Ortiz but she left first. we all know that she left first when she chose denny over alex, but then denny died so she had a one second wedding with alex left without warning and then cameback like nothing happened and hoping alex would forgive her and he told her to leave. the love of izzie’s life is denny, not alex because alex’s is jo but the writers gave jolex such a bad ending. for me it makes more that alex would ask jo to move to Kansas and then she would realize that he needed to take care of his kids and she would left him.
I whether Alex’s exit would be like Derek’s or Christina’s goodbyes bc at least there be better closure for us and the other characters. I’m so pissed at the writers !

Alex always loved Izzie more than anything even when he was with Jo, it was obvious, Izzie changed him, was the first person who accepted him and loved when the others didn’t liked him and even if i like Jo, Alex had more chemistry with Izzie

Im so happy alex is with lizzie it’s the best couple for me in greys if not for izzie who changed him he would never be with Jo however I don’t like how they deliver alex departure. He has changed so much through the seasons he would never do that to her the writers really fucked it up but still happy because izzex forever ❤️

I understand Alex he loves Jo but he's in love with Izzie. Is awful but she always was the love of his life. Even though I love Jolex and I'm very sad but in real life this kind of things happen every day. So I'm happy for Alex cause he has is happy with his own family❤
That is not right at all. That isn't love. You can't love someone you haven't talked to in years more than the person your sharing your life with. And if you can, you don't know what love is. You don't have to hate your ex, you can still have love for them. But you don't give up on your wife, your family. Even if someone else was your soulmate, which don't exist.

They've known Justin Chambers was gonna leave for some time. Could've had the same ending for Alex but done it so much better and kept it consistent with his character development of 16 years. It was just sloppy in my opinion.
Everyone that says Alex would never leave Jo .... has never seen how much Alex and Izzie were always end game ... I'm amazed it actually happened but its the best writing the show has done in a long time for main character arcs. Perfect end.
Guys, remember that he was dealing with mental health issues so this is probably the only way they could do this. I focused on how he felt seeing his kids and Izzie again. That would knock a lot of people down. There are so many who stay together for their kids so him seeing those two cuties could definitely lead him to do something like that. I found this episode to be truly emotional.
I really liked them together...but lets face it Alex always loved Izzie. Was it a shit exit...hell yes but not unbelievable.This was JUST like Alex to be a coward and write a note. I know his character came a long long way but to me this was so Karev and even though we all know he did indeed love Jo...she never had a chance against Izzie and that's not in a mean way...its just the truth. Add in his children and the rest is history.

I feel like things could've ended differently, but i don't think this was a choice between jo and izzie. If that were the case, i think he would've stayed with her. I feel like it really was between a life with jo, or giving his kids the life he and jo never got. He chose the kids..and Alex is the type of guy who would absolutely do that. They could've givin him a better ending, but im not extremely disappointed on how things ended.
Fam this show been downhill ever since Derrick died. Im not even surprised they wrote this terrible storyline. Grey couldn't get a happy ending then I know nobody else will on this show lol

Yeah that's not how real love works. It's not romantic all the time. It's not supposed to be. Do not romanticize toxic things. Like thinking soul mates exist, or that some romanticized version of lust can trump family. That it supersedes marriage, it doesn't. The bond that comes with time, shared experiences, and sharing a life. What Jo and Alex had was a real relationship. Izzie and Alex are a relic of passion and youth. Even if Alex loved all the qualities of Izzie more than Jos, Jo is his family and Izzie is not. His love for Jo will always be more real than the romantic love between lovers. Because those are romantic feelings, and not real love.
ok this comment makes me rlly mad. izzie was literally in love with denny for almost all of alex and her's relationship and it ended with her literally leaving him. he never felt the way he felt with jo with izzie and no one can change my mind. i literally don't understand how you could watch all of jo and alex's relationship build up and how much they just got eachother and still ship him with izzie. izzie will never get alex the way jo did. she went through so much and she finally found love. alex literally said like 100 times that he would never leave her, and that's exactly what he did. i honestly doubt you watch all of season 10-16 and believed that he belonged with izzie. phew ok that's my rant for today

So if YOU believe in this for Alex and Izzie, then you aren't wrong. As are the ones who don't believe in it. It's all about interpretation and differences in opinions. I'm just glad they didnt kill him off which would have been the easy option. Still nothing is truly set in stone until the very last episode when the show is done, so if enough noise and unhappiness about Alex's ending is still felt, then who knows, maybe the powers that be will bow to the pressure and give in to the demands of the big voices and change Alex's ending again.....

I’ve always loved Izzie and Alex together. Something that I’ve longed for but this wasn’t the way to do it. They made his character look very bad and is the oppsite of what Alex has become throughout this whole show.

Alex's exit was so bad. He would have never left Jo. He had made it clear that while Izzie held a special place in his heart, he had closure on her, and was happy with Jo. I guess in GA world, it's okay to be a bad partner because you get to be happy, but if you're a good partner, you get screwed over.
So basically Izzie gets to be happy, Alex gets to be happy, but Jo gets screwed over in the process. Everybody gets to be happy, but Jo has to suffer. She dosn't desvere any of the pain that Alex has caused her, and he would have never treated Jo so poorly, not after everything they been through together. The fact that the writers could screw over one of the strongest couples on the show, just goes to show that no couple is safe.

What I don't buy is Alex abandoning Jo like that. He would have at least tried to convince her to move with him so that he could be close to his children. They should have made Jo move with him but then realize that Alex's heart was now elsewhere so she leaves him. That would have made more sense.

izzie was always the one for alex. the hints were obvious throughout the seasons after she left because he kept mentioning her and I feel like even jo knew deep down that he never got over her when she found out about the embryos. him and jo were cute but it was so forced almost like the writers were desperate for Alex to have a romantic relationship, but nothing could top the chemistry he had with Izzie. killing him off would’ve been even worse as Mer has already lost so many people and they’ve killed off way too many main characters.

The truth is that I don't think that if Izzie hadn't had the twins Alex hadn't gone he had been shown and millions of times he still loved Izzie at some point in the series Alex would have gone with Izzie all that after the call. It was very obvious that he was still in love with her, that she was the love of his life and if she wasn't simply the writers had taken Izzie off the show, and although physically she wasn't still on the show Izzie was still present and especially in Alex's feelings, it was obvious that his story was not over yet and even Shonda said it is the great love of Alex Karev and the truth is that if you are a big fan of Alex you can like Jo but you would be happy of this endgame if not, you're a Jo fan. Although I am huuge Izziex fan I feel bad for Jo she really deseved better so I hope she found someone to stay with her and love her as Alex loves Izzie.
Yeah no. That's not how love works. That's just the crap fed to us on television. Real love, happens when two people work on a relationship. When they cultivate trust, security and comfort. Liking that person, having passion them, doesn't mean their is a deeper love. It's why Izzie and Alex broke up in the first place. I know Katherine Heigl left, but they at least gave a believable exit. I think Alex and Izzie had feelings for each other. I think she got to see more to him. I think they developed a bond. I think they cared for each other and did love each other. But they just were not right for each other. You can fall for someone you shouldn't be with. Its just how our brains work. But he is obviously going to love Jo more. He isn't the same person he was when he was with Izzie. Him and Jo were friends who forged their dynamic. They cultivated a relationship. They actually shared a life. It's clear he was passionate about Izzie and she will always be special to him. But he loved Jo. It's not the love that comes from being soulmates, the one, or a true love. That's all crap people say to justify not working on themselves or staying with the wrong person that you still have feelings for. Jo and Alex were family. Mini toast Alex told Jo that he wished getting EVERYTHING he ever wanted didn’t have to hurt Jo in the process. He finally found the happiness that he’s been longing for through Izzie and the kids. “I am finally exactly where I should be. I never had that before.” It sucks that Jo got hurt but it would really suck even more if Alex stayed with her just because she is his “wife”. He loves Jo but staying with her (after finding Izzie and the kids) will be more out of obligation than love. And Jo deserves to be with someone who wholeheartedly loves her. She’ll be okay.

This video is SO impressively edited, really perfect and beautifully done!! I love how many little Izzie moments you put in here throughout showing them happy, while keeping the focus on Jo's heartbreak and pain, it gave this vid such a different feel than all the other Jo/Alex vids I've seen post 16x16 including the one I made. You captured what she was imagining and dwelling on and made the happiness of him and Izzie painful. You also captured more of Jo's heartbreak, including even jumping back to the episode where she let out her anger by throwing balls with her therapist, and really creatively pieced this whole thing together, text on screen to drive home some of the lyrics that fit SO perfectly in the song you chose, just... all of it. I am so in love with this video. This arc hurt so so much and I will never get over this ghosting plot.

I can make peace with Alex leaving Jo FOR his kids and to be a family with Izzie. Because this is something that was really important to him for years. He's wanted that with Jo for a long time and it's never gotten there. So the pull of wanting to be with his kids will be stronger. But in an ideal world, Justin Chambers would have told the powers at be he was planning to leave and instead of the implausible arc we got with Meredith going to jail, we could have had a more drawn out storyline of Alex reconnecting with Izzie. Meeting his kids. Asking Jo to move to Kansas. The ensuing fight and ultimatim. The ensuing fight where Alex confronts Izzie about not telling him he was a dad for 5 years. A reunion between Izzie and Meredith. Maybe even Mer's kids playing with Eli and Alexis. Alex choosing to leave Jo. And finally a real goodbye to all of the (remaining) characters that have shaped him.
They could have done that in 8-9 episodes and it would have been controversial but at least it's an arc to the same result. They sowed enough seeds about Izzie and possible children between Jolex that it's not completely left-field but Alex Karev deserved an arc.
As a hardcore Alex and Izzie fan this is what I wanted for them. Even in the letters Alex says if it was just about Izzie and Jo he would choose Jo. Izzie has his kids though and it was the deciding factor for him. It could have been an emotional story arc and I really wish they had done it.

LOL, please don't mention Jaime and Brienne, that thing made me lose sleep for a month so much I was mad at the writers. At least Alex wrote Jo a letter. Jaime was going to leave Brienne without any final words, nothing, nada. It was only by luck that Brienne caught him at the last minute, else he would have just cruised away and left her hanging. He knows very well how Brienne has been laughed at all her life because of her looks yet he was going to leave her without a word, not even a lame consolation letter saying he's sorry. That was cold AF.

her telling link that he left her was the saddest thing ever. but the fact that she was right was even more sad. she just got better, she was depressed for awhile, and he made it worse by leaving. izzie left alex with a note, he felt horrible, alex did the exact same to jo. he has done many MANY bad things, he hurt deluca very badly but this is the worst he could do. leaving jo with nothing but a letter. just like that he left. couldn’t even do it in person. by a letter. a letter.
Alex always loved Izzie more than anything even when he was with Jo, it was obvious, Izzie changed him, was the first person who accepted him and loved when the others didn’t liked him and even if i like Jo, Alex had more chemistry with Izzie

as for Denny, we all know that Izzie turned to Denny because he was sick and that Alex had just cheated on her, she deeply loved Denny but I don't think she was in love with him just as she loved George

That is not right at all. That isn't love. You can't love someone you haven't talked to in years more than the person your sharing your life with. And if you can, you don't know what love is. They've known Justin Chambers was gonna leave for some time. Could've had the same ending for Alex but done it so much better and kept it consistent with his character development of 16 years. It was just sloppy in my opinion.

Guys, remember that he was dealing with mental health issues so this is probably the only way they could do this. I focused on how he felt seeing his kids and Izzie again. That would knock a lot of people down. There are so many who stay together for their kids so him seeing those two cuties could definitely lead him to do something like that. I found this episode to be truly emotional.

I really liked them together...but lets face it Alex always loved Izzie. Was it a shit exit...hell yes but not unbelievable.This was JUST like Alex to be a coward and write a note. I know his character came a long long way but to me this was so Karev and even though we all know he did indeed love Jo...she never had a chance against Izzie and that's not in a mean way...its just the truth. Add in his children and the rest is history.

I feel like things could've ended differently, but i don't think this was a choice between jo and izzie. If that were the case, i think he would've stayed with her. I feel like it really was between a life with jo, or giving his kids the life he and jo never got. He chose the kids..and Alex is the type of guy who would absolutely do that. They could've givin him a better ending, but im not extremely disappointed on how things ended.

Yeah that's not how real love works. It's not romantic all the time. It's not supposed to be. Do not romanticize toxic things. Like thinking soul mates exist, or that some romanticized version of lust can trump family. That it supersedes marriage, it doesn't. The bond that comes with time, shared experiences, and sharing a life. What Jo and Alex had was a real relationship. Izzie and Alex are a relic of passion and youth. Even if Alex loved all the qualities of Izzie more than Jos, Jo is his family and Izzie is not. His love for Jo will always be more real than the romantic love between lovers. Because those are romantic feelings, and not real love.
ok this comment makes me rlly mad. izzie was literally in love with denny for almost all of alex and her's relationship and it ended with her literally leaving him. he never felt the way he felt with jo with izzie and no one can change my mind. i literally don't understand how you could watch all of jo and alex's relationship build up and how much they just got eachother and still ship him with izzie. izzie will never get alex the way jo did. she went through so much and she finally found love. alex literally said like 100 times that he would never leave her, and that's exactly what he did. i honestly doubt you watch all of season 10-16 and believed that he belonged with izzie. phew ok that's my rant for today

I agree with you because love works differently for everyone and what happens for one person is unlikely to be the same for someone else.
So if YOU believe in this for Alex and Izzie, then you aren't wrong. As are the ones who don't believe in it. It's all about interpretation and differences in opinions.
I'm just glad they didnt kill him off which would have been the easy option.
Still nothing is truly set in stone until the very last episode when the show is done, so if enough noise and unhappiness about Alex's ending is still felt, then who knows, maybe the powers that be will bow to the pressure and give in to the demands of the big voices and change Alex's ending again.....
