      And that bar was calling out registered sex offenders. It wasn't a pointless insult. It was completely on-topic and pro-victim and anti-sex-offender. No one has any rational reason to be angry about it, unless they're a registered sex offender and they feel called out.
      Of course, the family of the victim is angry about it for irrational (but understandable) reasons. They're wrong, but you can't expect people who have gone through that kind of trauma to look at everything rationally.

    There is no legal argument, WHATSOEVER here. He is trying to get money, Megan's Law is LITERALLY a law. You cannot be sued for referencing the name of a Law and vaguely referencing what the law IS 😂

    It seems like Megan Kanka’s family is just a grieving family that is trying to take control over this “Hiss” situation.
    Unfortunately suing Megan Thee Stallion won’t bring their daughter Megan back.
    I also want to emphasize that I think Meg thee Stallion brought positive attention to the Kanka’s daughter’s case.
    I feel for everyone grieving in this situation.

      @@dinkyboss I think you’re right that maybe Meg could release a statement to her fans urging them not to harass Megan Kanka’s family. No family deserves to be harassed, especially not the family of a victim of such a horrible crime.
      I don’t personally believe Meg did anything wrong by simply mentioning the law in her lyrics. It is after all a law, which is public.
      I understand that a grieving family is naturally going to be upset by anything that may involve their deceased loved one. I don’t blame the family for becoming upset, but that also doesn’t necessarily mean I think Meg did anything wrong.

From a legal perspective, Idk what the father can really do. Emotional distress?     The fact that he said he hasn't heard the song for himself already says a lot, therefore he doesn't know the reason why the line was used, how it was used, or doesn't even know the context of it. Now yes, the law might have been made because of his daughter and what happened to her, but it's not like it was specifically made for her and only her, it was made for other victims too. Also it's not like the father signed the law or owns any rights to it, that's not how it works, no person can hold or have ownership over a law that's made for the public, so if he decides to wanna sue her then he really doesn't have anything to stand on to sue Megan for.

    I think he finds the entire genera of rap distasteful, not the fact that the name of the law that was named after his daughter was mentioned. I think if a band, maybe an alternative soft rock, or country band were to mention it and call it a tribute, he surely wouldn't have a problem.
    As a matter of fact, if someone made a soft rock version of Hiss, same lyrics, and all, I don't think there'd be a lawsuit, Because the man didn't even listen to the song.

    I didn't even know about Megan's Law, until I googled it. BASED on the song. People are looking up offenders in their neighborhood BASED on the song. The song has brought more awareness & helping to protect children everywhere. So the family doing this, is a disgrace on their own name.       With or without this song when referring to the law at all this would be brought up so their daughter's case would never be buried. With more people knowing what this law means more people can use it which means it'll be brought up even more they literally immortalize their daughter through legislation. Megan the stallion did not do that and even if she did, that was always gonna be the case. It's just now more known.

    We have freedom of speech and acting offended shouldn't win a lawsuit or get a settlement.

    I thought the whole point of any Law made to punish criminals was to deter potential criminals from committing the crime in the first place? so surly you WANT that law to gain as much attention as possible, you want it to be famous and imbedded into the general publics conscious, that way any would be criminals will think twice about the consequence & hopefully not go through with it! ...suing someone for mentioning it exists in a song is backwards :/ unless she was actively protesting it by telling people to not abide by it but that's not what she did.

    I'm n the middle on this one. Clearly this law suit shouldn't go anywhere, but the fact that her bars did more good than bad is irrelevant in terms of the fathers concerns.
    And the claim that this is just a cash grab......it's too early to say, but... It's unfortunate that this is the go to assumption given the circumstances around it.

    Even if they sue her, I don't think they will have a case. She did nothing wrong but mentioned the law. It just seems like the family is just looking for a reason to hate Megan because she's black and a rapper but I'll he saw was a black lady mentioned Megan's law and he was like I'm suing he doesn't have a case.     I don't think most people know the history of Megan's Law in the same way most people don't know the history of Amber alert. They may know the laws came about based on a child's name that is no longer with us but I doubt they know the full name and details of those cases. Because of that, if someone says anything about Megan's Law or Amber Alert, they likely aren't referring to those girls, their families, or even the people that hurt those girls. In that situation, I don't think anyone involved originally has a law suit they can win.

    I think people are using the "it's just a law" excuse to ignore the pain of this man. The law made after his daughters tragic loss is being used in a derogatory/antagonistic matter. Not in a positive light for representation to bring awareness to her memory. Reminds me of all the smoking opps lyrics that go viral. Imagine being the parent of those children while everyone dances and enjoys the song. You get to be reminded. How your child is gone and being paraded into the spotlight for "A rap beef".
