I actually appreciate the softer debut, if they’re going for more global audience then a song that “everyone” can sing and hum to with catchy hooks familiarizes the group with the masses easily. Also this might be the sound they want…laidback.
They actually did come out with a double song debut if you're interested! They are also promoting Blue Flame simultaneously with Fearless! Blue Flame was my absolute favorite from the album!
I don't know bout u guys but i love everything about the song. Im just so tired of the repetitive style of kpop where the bridge is usually them belting the notes or in any weird way. I just love this simplistic set and gives u a breath of fresh air with all these kpop songs almost sounding identical in some way or the other. I just love how hybe goes away from the typical girl crush or poppy type of songs and promote this different side of kpop.
The black short-haired girl is Chaewon, she is a former member of IzOne 😍😭 and the girl who sings the first chorus is Sakura, also a former member of IzOne! They managed to debut again ❤️
It's so interesting she's from IzOne. I'm not familiar with the group other than knowing they were very popular but short lived. And half the new girl groups debuting right now that are catching my attention all have former IzOne members in them. Which is kinda history repeating itself for me from when a lot of the soloists i was liking a while back like Chung Ha all came from I.O.I.
@@VMYeahVN Izone was an amazing group, and ex members bring a lot of popularity since Izone was VERY popular, and they are quite experienced, so maybe that's why they are catching your attention lol, but all former members from izone have already re-debuted except Chaeyeon (older sister of itzy's Chaeryeong) Wonyoung and Yujin are in IVE, Sakura and Chaewon in lesserafim, Yena, Eunbi, Yuri and I think Hyewon (?) have become soloists, Minju an actress and Hitomi and Nako have gone back to their former groups in Japan, if you're interested in them lol.
The chorus definitely sticks in my brain I just wish they switched up the last chorus a bit or added more to the bridge Hope you decide to check out some of their bsides, they’re really good 👍🏽 they also have a performance for their Blue Flame track that’s pretty interesting
I so agree. I like that Fearless is more subdued and not as super flashy as most gen 4 debuts, but i wish that final chorus did a little something different.
If you check out the album blue flame and sour grapes are good bsides, and blue flame is the promotional one it really does showcase their vocal harmony more!(you should watch the live stage)
keep an eye on kazuha (she was the one sitting on the car that was hanging in the air). She is going to be BIG in korea. Shes actually a pro trained ballerina
Fearless was a song that grew on me. Over time the song found it's way in my head while doing other things lol. Please check out their performance to Blue Flame. I'm just curious on what you think about the song and choreography.
I kinda had a similar reaction you did to this. How subdued the song is kinda caught me off guard, i also wanted a little bit more of a build/drop or change in the last bridge/chorus. But even after just 2 listens, later in the day i found myself humming and singing the song and listening to the song a lot. It IMMEDIATELY burrows right into your mind. I think this debut song is like Vanilla Wafer cookies where it's a very light flavor that you keep coming back to over and over if that makes sense. On paper that makes it "boring" compared to a more energetic and flashy gen 4 debut song, but it also means you keep going back to it because it's just enough where you like it and want more of it till you feel satiated, but because it's not a super strong flavor it denies you the satiation. Whereas the more aggressive high energy songs may sometimes wear you out after a while and you gotta take a break from it for a minute. The baseline and drum pattern in particular along with the "Whatcha lookin' at" and "You should get away" part of the chorus is so effortlessly catchy in a unobtrusive way. Hopefully i'm making some kind of sense lol. Fearless very much reminds me of "New Rules" by TXT too in that it really leans on that kinda funky/sexy drum and bass line pattern.
Their purpose for this debut is to tell the world about them. All the song was made based on the interview with the members. So all the songs on this debut ep are about them. Yeah if the standard for good vocal for you is the high note, then this song is surely not for you, where the highlight of the sing mostly in low note. Yeah they don't need to do what other groups do to slay.
I was left wanting a little more cuz it didn't feel like a debut to me. I feel like it needed a little more drama but this minimalist vibe grew on me afterwards lol the girls' charisma and fierceness sold it for me, and the song is really catchy, this is a promising group. They have a trained classical music girl and a ballet dancer on the group, so I was hoping to see a little more of that being highlighted in some way but the how group has that star quality!! I'm excited to see what they'll bring next
What I want to think this time is that HYBE is not giving you everything you want or everything you expect, giving them room to grow and surprise, also it is the first girl group they debut Some groups try to showcase too much in their debuts and then they deflate over time HYBE knows
Sometime debut song other grup are noisy. With bang or another daang. You know i mean. But this song actually calm but kill it. N album debut sold 370k copies? Amazing
I like the song but I'm biased because I would've liked anything after having to wait soooo long to see Chaewon and Sakura re-debut. But I still think that they could've shown a lot more, we know these girls can sing (I see you Yunjin and Chaewon), dance and perform (can't wait to see Kazuha being THE main dancer), yet the debut felt very "safe". Very excited for their first comeback, they definitely have the budget and concept to pull of something AMAZING.
I definitely thing the bridge was a let down for me, but I do think this is one of the few kpop songs that I can listen to in every situation because it is very understated. It’s weird to see in 4th gen a pretty normal song so it almost seems unique because it’s not experimental? A good song to listen to while you are distracted doing something else lolol
I love fearless unlike a lot of people but I think some B-sides on this album would be a better choice for the tittle. The Great Mermaid gives so much more than fearless ever gave. It’s more experimental and shows the vocal talent they truly have cause this group blows a lot of 4th gen groups vocals out of the water. Blue flame is a much chiller vibe but it’s definitely a fan favorite cause it is sooooo catchy. I think it would of been smart to do two songs like you said because I know that they wanted to do Fearless since I’m Fearless is Le Sserafim rearranged but there are way better songs on the album. If you where to do a second look at them I recommend those two songs cause to me they show the versatility of the group.
I actually really liked the more laid back debut and the song is catchy in a pleasing way. It feels different in terms of style of dancing and sound than other 4th gen I've heard so far. Prob still not my favorite debut and I still think it's underwhelming in some parts, especially the bridge, but I can see the potential!
don't get why people are treating this debut as a revolutionary song or saying "finally a normal and good debut song"?? it's not experimental and it doesn't have a beat drop/heavy chorus, but so does a lot of other 4th gen gg debuts? here are just a few: nature allegro cantabile fromis_9 to heart dreamnote dream note weeekly tag me bvndit hocus pocus iz*one la vie en rose stayc so bad ive eleven ive purple kiss ponzona viviz bop bop blackswan tonight honey popcorn bibidi babidi boo hi-l too too the song is fine tho, just needed to be less repetitive, less motone/one note, have a proper bridge and better vocal processing and less autotune as well, specially on the second verses. the great mermaid should've been the title-track and i loved sour grapes, so i'm curious about what they'll bring next.
Do you think HYBE give all you need? No, HYBE just giving you one pieces like puzzle. N make u suprise what the puzzle they want to show you. That HYBE's teory album.
I agree that the final chorus was a little redundant. Especially given the sets they were using with the sparks and everything I feel like they could have added at least a descant and just stepped it up a bit. Because the song wasn’t over the top which is fine but the final chorus seems mismatched with the over the top set imo. Overall I liked it but I didn’t feel any payoff at the end.
The song is underwhelming. It’s not a bad song, it’s just not very dynamic, the chorus is very catchy and very good but because the song doesn’t go anywhere really, even the chorus gets tired easily. It stays on the same note, and while I could see this as a very good choice for a b-side ( or a reworked title track ), I don’t think this works as a title track as it is, ESPECIALLY the debut title track. The girls are very very talented and charismatic and I wish HYBE did a better job at offering them an impactful debut song. This just wasn’t a moment, not THE moment everybody expected from HYBE’s first girl group ( besides gfriend ofc ). I don’t want to compare but comparisons are not always bad, girl groups are the it thing this year and I would argue the stand out from the 4th generation overall, but IVE is still the best girl group to debut this past few months, their company knew they had to make a spalsh with their first releases and that’s what they did. Easily rookie of the year. If they don’t win, it’s rigged, period. The stats are there.
Agree with everything you said. VERY underwhelming for sure. SM wouldn't have made such an error imo. Hopefully they'll learn to invest in girl groups properly.
I fully agree with your comments. It was just dull/flat, musically. It was a cool vibe and a great video - but the song itself - meh. Like you can keep a chill vibe to vocals while still giving me something interesting musically. There was no journey with this song - all one level. Which even if it didn't go totally nuts, like it would be nice to just not have everything be all the same level. I don't even care if the vocals aren't just thrilling. But yes, I'd love a double track review so that I don't have to really dig deep and go to an album to see if they have something more. Love the vibe, love the visual brand, love the choreo. I'm just not sure if I'm going to be their biggest fan, we'll give them room to grow. I agree, I like their "rapper's" vocal - it is so different for trends, kind of a very round deeper tone. That was the biggest musical switch up of the whole song haha :D
it’s not a bad song by any means. It just didn’t give. One thing is that I think they’re all really strong dancers! I just hope they don’t put these under aged girls in those suggestive dance positions again, it’s fcking cringe.
I expected for a song called fearless to have more punch..instead this felt too safe. The song is likeable. It does have you automatically humming to it but after a while it just gets boring. I do like Blue Flame. That was a bit more interesting.
To me the third chorus is too mild for a title track. I got bored by the end, more of a b-side feel. Some of these girls are from IZ*ONE, like the short haired girl, Chaewon, who you liked, so they're actually pretty experienced
I actually appreciate the softer debut, if they’re going for more global audience then a song that “everyone” can sing and hum to with catchy hooks familiarizes the group with the masses easily. Also this might be the sound they want…laidback.

The biggest surprise for me is Kazuha. She's incredible, can't get enough of her!
i feel like they weren’t trying to show us everything they got as their first debut , it makes me excited to see how they become in the future.
I kinda had a similar reaction you did to this. How subdued the song is kinda caught me off guard, i also wanted a little bit more of a build/drop or change in the last bridge/chorus. 1000% agree with you
@@castro4694 i know
I think this song had so much potential. I like it, but I want to love it.
i don't usually stand girl groups, but i can stand this group since I feel like they are different from other girl groups in K-pop.
I don't know if I like this song or not my mind is just blank it's like I need something more
This! Loool
This would’ve made my playlist if the bridge was different 😭
There was a bridge?!😯
wait, there's a bridge??

Loved it!
Actually many people like their bside better than the tittle track. Fearless is good but blue flame is amazing for me
I don't know... I feel like if this was a Little Mix or a Fifth Harmony song, no one would bat an eye at the song.
yeah, you correctly pointed out the two maknaes at the end
Oh nice!
Listen to their BSIDES! They appealed more to me and maybe they will to you 😄 this group has everything 😍
