This 15 minute mammoth is a reworking of the original, "Killers are Quiet," that can be found on the band's debut Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat. The song is about someone who kills women and recreates them in his own image, like a living doll type thing. While Slipknot was recording this song, Corey Taylor was completely naked and cutting himself with broken glass, then he proceeded to vomit on himself. The song's title is not in the lyrics, and the lyrics aren't printed on the album sleeve. They are printed on the CD itself.
@@BeansMcGriddle yes I know that, but this song was re-recorded with Corey as singer. As I said it was a reworking of original from MFKR days. They did do that if you are a Slipknot fanboy. Re-record most of the old songs under Corey.
That's some fucked up shit...but don't we all do that with traits on tinder lol? Btw, stay away from tinder, nothing but bots years ago, stayed away ever since.
from my understanding this song starts right after he murders her. 'Relax, its over' meaning the chase is over. Taking her second digit could be a form of trophy or a reference to her wedding finger - by killing her he traps her with him - nobody else can have her now. Then he goes on to admire her, she is 'fascinating'. Now she is dead and he posseses her body, he can take his time and look at her, almost like an exhibit. But then her body decays, becomes 'so blue, so broken'. She becomes 'cold' and her 'eyes are full of bleach'. Meaning perhaps in her dead state he cannot garner the love he needs from her as all of her memories and personality - well its all gone. The love he craved cannot exist. In a way he is no better off and still chasing her, but now she lays there tormenting him - always with him but never acknowledging his existence or his, as he sees it, act of love. Then by the end of the song he realises that she is his to use and to love. He can 'tear her apart and recombine her'. She is, in his eyes, the very essence of beauty, and he can create whatever he wants - like a child with his favourite lego set. This way, she will 'live forever' with him. They are one being now. She is his artpiece so to speak. He also starts talking directly to her - this is, despite the decay and rot, the relationship he always wanted, and they are forever together. Couldn't wait for this reaction guys. Good shit. This song can put you into a really fascinating trance. And of course, this is all just an interpretation.
14:50-16:00 is probably the gnarliest, heaviest most disturbing part in a song I have ever heard. Idk if ever heard someone’s voice become so dark like that. Knowing that a good majority of those screams in the song came from him cutting him self just adds to the darkness. Idk if there will be another band that can recreate anything as dark as this. Maybe lyrically, but not feel.
Corey is "a little bit fucked up" on this song, in his words, as he was drinking three bottles of Jack daily. The backtracked voice is him screaming "don't look at me" at the guys in the studio, while he vomits and drunkenly cuts himself with the glass he throws at the end of The Heretic Anthem. He says when he came out of the recording booth, naked and covered in blood and puke, Clown was standing there speechless, and all he could get out was "Taylor, the fuck is wrong with you?"
It's about playing with a body. He was also cutting himself with broken glass and smashing the studio up while singing this. The screams and grunts were him stabbing himself with the glass
This may be the creepiest of their songs they’ve ever created. This is an entirely different dark, atmospheric musical journey. Great reaction & happy holidays!
Fun fact Corey was drunk on jack and he was butt naked in the studio the craziest thing is the screams you hear inbetween the lyrics are genuine pain screams from Corey because he broke bottles and studio glass around him and he was cutting himself with the glass on his hands wrists and arms to get real screams he said

The way you guys described this song about the mental image of walking down the road or standing at the gates of hell hearing all the sounds. That's spot on I get that vibe too lol
My absolute favorite from them. The deepest, darkest and most disturbing track from Slipknot, a truly masterpiece; beautifully hellish and feels like a headshot.
Dawg you chose Christmas to finally do this one? And of all the clips to start it off, it's mick talking about polishing the crowbar. I love it. Haven't listened to this song in a while. Just downright rough stuff with this one. Every scream being one of genuine pain. Though, nobody can deny that it really showcases each of them with the atmosphere, percussion, the way they all fade out at the end one by one, and especially Paul's bassline. One of his best.
The producer who worked with korn on their first two albums also worked with Slipknot on their first two albums and there is some songs that did not make it on that first album that sounds more inspired by the recording process with korn like the fact that you can hear the other band members saying something towards the end and the more breathing in the spacey areas
This song is a kind of recreation of the song "Killers Are Quiet" from their original album "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat". The album was largely based off the lore of the White Wolf tabletop gaming universe. It dealt heavily with the werewolves, but also talked about the vampires, fae, and mages from that universe. Corey wasn't the singer in that original album, so it's safe to say they dropped the gaming references at this point. :D The original lyrics were from "Killers Are Quiet" are: [Verse 1] Cycle of life and death supposedly Goes around and around yet it stops with me Glorious hunters of my faith, I have sinned Killers are quiet like the breath of the wind [Verse 2] Filling the shadows with forms of my own Raised by kindred of Get I was born Abomination world in disarray Killers are quiet when they seek the vitae [Verse 3] Reflection beckons a portal shard Spiritual quest I must stay on guard Stepping sideways between worlds I shift Killers are quiet when they're born with the gift [Verse 4] Beautiful anguish cast out by my race Now one that's ageless I save my own face I write my own laws with death, I break bread Killers are quiet when they come from my head! [Outro] Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run!
It’s about necrophilia simple as that! Corey in an interview explained it’s about “sleeping with a corpse” and I won’t even say what he did to himself while recording, to give the track its super dark edge. Look it up!
Ross Robinson created 2 of the best albums of all time: Self titled and IOWA. The movie 'the collector' inspired a lot of Slipknot's songs, including this one.
Year's ago I had my 79' Monte Carlo stolen along with all my CD's. I bought an S-10 Blazer after that, put a couple subs in it, bought this CD as my first replacement. This always makes me reminisce about rolling around blaring this song while trying to find the people who stole my car.
This is just an abridged version of my own head canon, so this means nothing (yes, this is the short version) But I've always felt like Slipknot has a theme that crosses over a few of their songs, particularly Prosthetics and Iowa. I think it's about memory. The idea of "keeping them", Prosthetics, a prosthetic is a tool to replace the function of a missing limb. You loose something but you can't go on with out it so you replace it's function or seek to get it back. In Prosthetics Corey basically talks like a stalker for the first half of the song, but then starts screaming "what the eff is different man I can't believe I'm doing this" wtf is different ie what I'm doing might as well be that ie this obsession I have with [her] might as well be a decaying impulse to be a criminal ie I'm not letting [her] go ie I'm "keeping [her]" ie "you will always be mine" Corey has talked about his lyrics (he said this about the Iowa album, but the point stands) as "cutting myself open and just going: look" he's telling the story of his feelings in a way that makes them ugly, shows them for the festering decay they are, partly to fit the Slipknot aesthetic or w/e sure but also partly as a kind of therapy. Like trying to defile the thing you can't let go to get over it. He's basically calling himself a stalker to try to jolt himself out of the actions which, while not actually stalking and just overstated "not letting go", he knows are wrong. SO we have the idea from Prosthetics of telling the story of memory and loss and "holding on" as if it's a story about a perverse criminal stalker. Then we come to Iowa in the next album (also Iowa xp) "Relax It's over You belong to me" "I will kill you to love you" He's basically moved in with this corpse, this rotting memory. He accepts that he lives with a corpse. But the subject in this case isn't actually a corpse, it's a memory. Now come back to "I will kill you to love you" it's actually, if phrased violently and not therapeutically, a super healthy and therapeutic impulse. He's trying to "kill [her]" (get rid of the corpse) "to love her" (to remove his "stalker like impulses", to "show real love" to "do what is right"). It's just him saying I need to end this unhealthy dynamic, bring an end to this relationship I have with a corpse; I need to move on I think Corey, at least in Slipknot, will sometimes make things ugly as a mechanism to help himself get distance from them (and/or he sees things in others that he's trying to make ugly to show them for what they are). You sit around all day missing a memory of someone, so you make your desire look ugly, you smell it's rot, to try to force yourself away from it, to make it less natural for you, to force a change. "I can tear you apart I can recombine you" it's all in his head. He has full control. He can do whatever he wants. He can even end it. He didn't want the relationship to end, but now after so long he might as well be lying with a rotting corpse. He's trying to tear that reality down. "I will kill you to love you" [In Prosthetics:] He's not a stalker, he just feels like one when he can't let go [In Iowa:] He's not a killer, he just wants to get rid of this "rotting corpse"
Thank you for this reaction it's a dark album, Corey letting out his demons here. This year is my first Christmas and birthday without my dad....feel like I need to listen to this again since im not feeling this holiday....
So glad you guys did this one! Not counting the lyrics there’s something kind of trance-like about it. Even with them actually. Disturbing, but ultimately very enthralling. They are very good at establishing mood. The same producer was responsible for this and Daddy so the comparison makes sense. Loved the reaction like always guys!! Y’all are awesome!🤘🖤
Fell asleep to this song many times back in the day when my parents divorced, amongst other things. Very relieving to listen to in times of depression.
This song is nuts if I remember right Corey Taylor recorded this song completely naked while cutting himself with the glass from a broken candle and a lot of the screaming is just from him cutting himself. Also a good chunk of the screams you hear in the background are just Corey puking his guts out.
Corey was in a very dark place in the makig of this song, he was drinkining a lot, and in a toxic relationship, he even cut himself with glass during the recording to release his pain.
Christmas and Slipknot saturday whit the trash talkers what can i ask Santa now thanks for doing this one we magot been waiting for this one merry Christmas guys 🤟
i think most people interpret this song a bit too literally as coreys pov. the way i see it, he's known what its like to feel the way the victim feels being killed, dismembered and treated in such a way. thats the kind of pain i hear in his voice
Every single slipknot fan who is hearing the first 3 notes of the bassline knows how fffffucked up its going to get😂 this is a staple of slipknot, and one they absolutely DONT want to play
Inside an active mind of a psychopath engaging in his first homicidal act that's been pictured in his imagination to the point of needing to feed the impulse of doing it and all the while cutting up his first victim, looking down upon the corpse of this female body he falls in love with her..... and is his forever after. Gotta love the poetry in it 🤪🤣🤘🤡🤘🎅☃️🎄
song originally was called killers are quiet in 1996 on mate feed kill repeat which i know you guys reacted to right yeah man actually if you don,t know it,s the same song but rerecorded with corey taylor as far as i know the original 1996 demo version of iowa aka killers are quiet anders said in a underground youtube interview was about the ed gein murders and iowa the rerecorded version was about corey killing himself very weird and interesting my favorite early extreme metal era slipknot song
I’m one of those people that enjoys metal purely from its music , I very rarely listen the the words , but now finding out what this song is about I don’t think I’ll be listing to it anymore
I just read the lyrics...wow....reminds me of the movie "The Cell"....just read a quick interview with Corey discussing each song on this album...apparently he was drunk, naked and cutting himself throughout the recording
I remember when this album dropped and I was just about to fall asleep and this song came on. This absolutely blew me away and has become one of my favorite songs of Slipknot's.
the reason of this song being disturbing it’s mostly because of the recording of it. Corey recorded this song naked, vomiting and CUTTING HIMSELF WITH BROKEN GLASS and you can even hear his grunts of pain. Not only that, the song, in Corey’s words, it’s about "doing things with a body", in other words, necrophilia. Iowa was the worst moment of all the Slipknot members, and this song really describes it. Most of the members abused drugs or alcohol, Sid’s grandpa died, Clown was divorced, Jim was homeless… That’s why Iowa is not one of the most, but THE MOST disturbing Slipknot song. What’s also fucking disturbing is that recording this took Corey 2 takes, both of them cutting himself with broken glass. Yup, Iowa ladies and gentlemen
Thank you for reacting to this highly disturbing masterpiece! And if I remember correctly, during an interview Corey did say something along the lines of this song being about living in Iowa, also, I’m pretty sure Corey was also violated as a kid by two(?) male teens while he lived there, so there might be a slight connection to this song and “Daddy” by Korn, can’t say for certain tho
I got told iowa was a look through the eyes of a first time killer and the excitement of making your first kill. Also, kill pop is apparently about the music industry but it sounds like he ends up attracted to the women he chooses. Not wanting to kill her, and knowing he can't release her until "she loves me".
They did this whole album in Iowa in a haunted house and they said they would see shadows walking everywhere and the drummer broke his body and played the drums and you can hear him in pain also they hated each other during this
At the start of the covid outbreak when everyone had to stay in I was in a constant state of terror of getting covid and I always wanted to listen to this song. It just made me feel better and I've no idea why
This is such a banger. Really creates a vivid, disturbing picture. Fun fact, there's parts in this song that are played in reverse, which is corey screaming "Don't look at me". Also I'm sure others have already explained, but corey was in a real bad spot during the production of this version of the song, I'll leave it at that
This song Rarely times was played complete, during a Show In Hamburg in 2002, they played this song first time ever, but they played for around 30 minutes long also all the members were drunk AF During the Vol.3 tour they played only the first Half of the song
So all the background screams was corey actually cutting himself... clown said he striped naked in the middle of recording it...... also....... Corey did a Q and A and he said that the music was so creepy that it brought him to a dark place...... about making love and doing messed up things to a corpse..... you can find the video of him describing it here on RUclips! Super creepy but one of my favorite songs
During the recording of this song, Corey Taylor stripped naked and cut himself with glass, as if in a trance. After recording this song, Shawn (the clown) approached Corey and said, "Who the fuck are you, Taylor?"
You should read about Corey’s state while recording this song. I think the IOWA name is just a name to describe the album as a whole and the song title is the climax that starts with People=Shit, Disasterpieces, Left Behind, Skin Ticket, New Abortion all the song titles have serial killer vibes.

[Verse 1]
Cycle of life and death supposedly
Goes around and around yet it stops with me
Glorious hunters of my faith, I have sinned
Killers are quiet like the breath of the wind
[Verse 2]
Filling the shadows with forms of my own
Raised by kindred of Get I was born
Abomination world in disarray
Killers are quiet when they seek the vitae
[Verse 3]
Reflection beckons a portal shard
Spiritual quest I must stay on guard
Stepping sideways between worlds I shift
Killers are quiet when they're born with the gift
[Verse 4]
Beautiful anguish cast out by my race
Now one that's ageless I save my own face
I write my own laws with death, I break bread
Killers are quiet when they come from my head!

It's just him saying I need to end this unhealthy dynamic, bring an end to this relationship I have with a corpse; I need to move on
I think Corey, at least in Slipknot, will sometimes make things ugly as a mechanism to help himself get distance from them (and/or he sees things in others that he's trying to make ugly to show them for what they are). "I will kill you to love you"
[In Prosthetics:] He's not a stalker, he just feels like one when he can't let go
[In Iowa:] He's not a killer, he just wants to get rid of this "rotting corpse"
Thank you for this reaction it's a dark album, Corey letting out his demons here.
This year is my first Christmas and birthday without my dad....feel like I need to listen to this again since im not feeling this holiday....
This song is about Corey playing with a dead corpse and it’s all fantasy
So glad you guys did this one! Not counting the lyrics there’s something kind of trance-like about it. Even with them actually. Disturbing, but ultimately very enthralling. They are very good at establishing mood. The same producer was responsible for this and Daddy so the comparison makes sense. Loved the reaction like always guys!! Y’all are awesome!🤘🖤
Glad you guys got around to this one! It's easily some of their best work, it's more of an experience than a song.
This reminds me of a Sepultura tune from Roots bloody roots album.
Thanks guys! Great Christmas gift. Merry Christmas and happy holidays. 🤘
Fun fact Corey Taylor was actually cutting himself with a piece of glass to make alot of the screams within the song
Slipknot are Masters of Atmosphere
Happy holidays guys
AHHHHH IM SO HAPPY I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REACTION LMAOOO
We've arrived at my favorite Slipknot song
Yes I’ve been waiting for this so long!
Always love hearing Slipknot with the boys! Also, might wanna check the title of your video, guys. Might've made a small error.
Corey said he was cutting himself with glass during this song so his screams were really authentic … actually insane.
Bad omen - like a villain 💯🔥
Christmas and Slipknot saturday whit the trash talkers what can i ask Santa now thanks for doing this one we magot been waiting for this one merry Christmas guys 🤟
I recommend "Finale", "Acidic", and "Warranty" from the new album. 🤘
This is so haunting and i love it
I'm sure yall know but for a long time SLIPKNOT had all original 9 members, and only recently 2 passed away. But still a 9 member band is unheard of.
i think most people interpret this song a bit too literally as coreys pov. the way i see it, he's known what its like to feel the way the victim feels being killed, dismembered and treated in such a way. thats the kind of pain i hear in his voice
Every single slipknot fan who is hearing the first 3 notes of the bassline knows how fffffucked up its going to get😂 this is a staple of slipknot, and one they absolutely DONT want to play
Since yall did whole Iowa album. Please check out Disasterpieces Concert DVD.
Watched that thing at least 30 Times already in my Life. Wouldnt mind another watch together with the two Boys.
This song was originally called 'Killers Are Quiet'
Finally been waiting for yall to react to this song.
Please can you do Skinny Puppy - Assimilate (Live 1987),
These guys were Industrial pioneers, and inspired NIN, Type O Negative, Fear Factory etc.
can't believe i almost forgot about legendary Skinny Puppy, these guys were so ahead of the curb.
Not related to SlipknoT tho😅
Sting's real name is
Gordon Matthew Sumner
from England
" DUECES! "
✌🏻😸✌🏻
Inside an active mind of a psychopath engaging in his first homicidal act that's been pictured in his imagination to the point of needing to feed the impulse of doing it and all the while cutting up his first victim, looking down upon the corpse of this female body he falls in love with her..... and is his forever after. Gotta love the poetry in it 🤪🤣🤘🤡🤘🎅☃️🎄
Mezzzzzmorizing...Merry Christmas!
It's not often Hollywood has not much to say directly after lol. That "mhm" right after kinda made me chuckle.
song originally was called killers are quiet in 1996 on mate feed kill repeat which i know you guys reacted to right yeah man actually if you don,t know it,s the same song but rerecorded with corey taylor as far as i know the original 1996 demo version of iowa aka killers are quiet anders said in a underground youtube interview was about the ed gein murders and iowa the rerecorded version was about corey killing himself very weird and interesting my favorite early extreme metal era slipknot song
This song was a redo of “Killer’s Are Quiet” off of MFKR
SLIPKNOT SATURDAY!
' Iowa '
I've been to Iowa,
Lots of corn fields &
windmills ...
Super unleaded gas was cheap ⛽
🌽🌽 🌽
🤘🏻😸✌🏻
Thank you for reacting to this highly disturbing masterpiece! And if I remember correctly, during an interview Corey did say something along the lines of this song being about living in Iowa, also, I’m pretty sure Corey was also violated as a kid by two(?) male teens while he lived there, so there might be a slight connection to this song and “Daddy” by Korn, can’t say for certain tho
The similarly is that Ross Robinson was the producer
Slipknot Saturday!
Nice,thank you🤟
Joey and Paul shine on this crazy track
Saw them perform this live in 2003. It was impressive and disturbing at the same time. A dark and twisted masterpiece
Slipknot didn't a Show in 2003, in that year they were in the recording sessions of the vol.3
They first performed it live in 05
Morning guys! Ya this is a disturbingly good song for sure! 🤓
I got told iowa was a look through the eyes of a first time killer and the excitement of making your first kill. Also, kill pop is apparently about the music industry but it sounds like he ends up attracted to the women he chooses. Not wanting to kill her, and knowing he can't release her until "she loves me".
“I take your second digit with me”
He cut her wedding ring finger off as a souvenir. Love.
They did this whole album in Iowa in a haunted house and they said they would see shadows walking everywhere and the drummer broke his body and played the drums and you can hear him in pain also they hated each other during this
That album is a masterpiece.
Beginning music reminds me of The Doors...."This is the End"....
Also I'm sure others have already explained, but corey was in a real bad spot during the production of this version of the song, I'll leave it at that
Have you guys heard Corey Taylors Xmas song?
Omg yes, I completely forgot about that song!! It's freaking hilarious too, I laugh my arse off every time I hear it!
We need to hear that
FINALLY!!!
The song is about “loving” a dead person
The Mighty Bosstones - The Impression Thet I Get
Check out the live version. Pretty sure they only performed it once in iowa. It’s quite the experience
This song just makes me feel certain things, from that 1st scream on...
This song Rarely times was played complete, during a Show In Hamburg in 2002, they played this song first time ever, but they played for around 30 minutes long also all the members were drunk AF
During the Vol.3 tour they played only the first Half of the song
So all the background screams was corey actually cutting himself... clown said he striped naked in the middle of recording it...... also....... Corey did a Q and A and he said that the music was so creepy that it brought him to a dark place...... about making love and doing messed up things to a corpse..... you can find the video of him describing it here on RUclips! Super creepy but one of my favorite songs
During the recording of this song, Corey Taylor stripped naked and cut himself with glass, as if in a trance. After recording this song, Shawn (the clown) approached Corey and said, "Who the fuck are you, Taylor?"
what a beautiful love song
😅😅😅😅 the intro tho.. I love those unmasked videos
Great song reaction
Obligatory algorithm comment complete. 🤘🏻🔥
You should read about Corey’s state while recording this song.
I think the IOWA name is just a name to describe the album as a whole and the song title is the climax that starts with People=Shit, Disasterpieces, Left Behind, Skin Ticket, New Abortion all the song titles have serial killer vibes.
Yes please check out more from the new album
Guys,You need to react King 810 I ain't going back again. Hip hop, industrial,no metal but soul from David and rest, needed to watch 🤘🤘🤘
