    There was almost ZERO marketing for this movie, and I just randomly decided to go to the theatres and picked this movie completely blind. It was just a fun fun movie. Justin Long's character is so god damn good.

      @willvr4 Per Wikipedia: "Barbarian has been characterized as having themes related to sexual abuse and trauma, and, owing to the book by which Cregger was inspired, themes of different forms of misogyny. Writing for Film School Rejects, Aurora Amidon asserted that the film is essentially about "the ripple effects of abuse", concerning the characters of AJ and Frank-who, in the habit of harming women for their own pleasure, are cut from the same cloth.[14]"
      This movie is deeper than you realize.

    Calvin was on fire, I think with this reaction. The Tire Fireman. Also, you'd think ERic would trust the police less for someone who talks about fighting and going to jail that one time. Their reaction was not all that farfetched to me lol. The most famous case of it is Jeffrey Dahmer's victim running to the police and being released back to him.

    @zac_94 11 месяцев назад +57

    @25:14 I love his reasoning for going down there and it is such a great contrast to Tess's reasoning. Like in a way they're both dual protagonists but the way they both go through life are vastly different. She chose to go down there (despite all our screaming at her not to) to try and help someone. He chose to go down there out of some idiotic sense of self-preservation caused by his own toxic actions. It's really good storytelling.

    The amount of news reports I've read where the crux of victim injustices lie with cops flat-out refusing to do the bare minimum of their job, is substantial enough for it to be more talked about. The long history of Hollywood & TV indulging in copaganda, has skewed a lot of people's views into thinking that an outrageous depiction like this one, will always be far-fetched & ludicrous. Factor in economic & social biases (to name just two), & this counter portrayal is not so incredulous.

    Also, my gas meter is inside the house in the basement, so yes, utility workers will come inside to check it. If you are not home, they will leave a card and you can report it yourself online or by mail, but they only do that for so long then they really want to physically check it. Also, the water meter used to be inside the house too, but it got moved outside the house at some point when I was a kid. The gas meter will be moving outside when the gas company gets around to it.

    Honestly didn’t love the massive juxtaposition in tone. It worked at first, and then became a huge drag on the story very quickly. It would have been far better if we didn’t get the first half of the guy’s story (though I understand how it’s important to the overall message) and instead it started when he first shows up to the house and cut out the fluff.
    It completely robbed any tension and creep factor for a looooong portion of the film.

      @@luvvvv124correct, all objects fall the same speed regardless of mass, at least if all other given things are equal.
      Take a bowling ball, a pebble, and a giant boulder, and drop them at the same time and they will hit the ground at the exact same time.
      Really, the main factor for "gaining speed" in the air is air resistance and such. A rock and a feather would normally fall the same, if not for the properties of the feather that make it ride the wind and fall much slower due to its aerodynamics.
      Aerodynamics *can* be affected by size though, so size *can* technically affect falling speed in certain situations, but it generally has to be significantly larger to fall faster. Things can only fall so fast though, eventually terminal velocity is reached and thats it

    Sherlock taught me that ripping a hand from the socket is in human range, so arm might be. Than she split the head with the fall she survived and everything flew out the window

    I finally watched this movie a couple days ago at first I thought Tess was very smart. Until she decided not to abandon Keith after propping the Basement door open. I thought that was more than enough from Tess. Maybe shout "bye Keith" from the top of the steps.
    After this reaction I realize Tess is too good a person, she couldn't leave them behind.
