Talking about taking care of our own citizens, take North Carolina after Helene and the wild fires in California. The media and government is all over California and the deviation. Yet North Carolina still have thousands of people living in tents and have yet to receive any help. And not one media outlet is even talking about North Carolina. It’s breaks my heart that so many have lost everything in both situations. But how is one state any different from the other? Both need help. These other countries need to take care of themselves and we need to take care of our own.
I agree 100% I just made a post on Facebook that stated I will NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE CALIFORNIA FIRES UNTIL ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO THE APPALACHIAN STATES that were DEVASTATED by flooding FOUR MONTHS AGOS, and STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE HELP NECESSARY TO REBUILD! And yes, I am using CAPS because I am YELLING! This really pisses me off to see the media giving all of the attentions to California!!!! You don't even hear about North Carolina anymore, and there were MORE DEATHS, and more cities, affected than California. Is it because California is a BLUE STATE??? Is it because the loud mouthed "Hollyweirds" are affected? Is it because California is considered "upper class" versus the Appalachian communities? How can FEMA show up IMMEDIATELY, with TONS OF SUPPLIES, within a DAY, and yet FEMA said they did not have the funds to help North Carolina? This is such bullsh!t, and is not to be tolerated! I thought this was the UNITED States of America! Not "Californication of America". It is reprehensible that our government treats the citizens the way they do, dependent upon where they reside.
It makes me happy to see this podcast STAND UP to our government, and explain the "good, the bad, and the ugly", instead of cowering to the "powers to be".
You guys got it right A person with a brain and common sense understands it . The problem is each party is to worried about the other side instead of what's best for the country
I completely agree! Heaven forbid if you vote for something that is good for the Country, but it will make the President or the other party look like a superstar for getting the problem solved. The Democrats never want to solve the immigration problem because then they will not have a group they "Have" to fight for. The Republicans want to solve the immigration problem, and then to prevent the others from coming in at a high speed. Another thing is Social Security. The Democrats keep complaining and telling anyone who will listen "If not for the Democratic party, the Republicans would eliminate Social Security". So you must vote for the Democratic party or you risk losing your Social Security". Now I have to say that Social Security is more popular than recess for third graders. And if you ask every third grader to get rid of recess, they will all vote no, well maybe one weird kid will say we don't need recess or summer breaks. Same thing with Social Security. It is not a program that we can get rid of. Nobody who has a mother or father on Social Security is going to vote to reduce the benefits. Nobody hoping to collect Social Security in the next 10 or 20 years will be eager to vote to reduce the benefits or make the age requirements go higher. And the Democrats accusing the Republicans for wanting to cancel the Social Security system is hogwash. Social Security is something we the workers paid into, 6.5% of all of our earnings, and 6.5% is matched by your employer. That is a lot of money over the past 40 years before you actually retire. It is not a entitlement that you do not deserve, it is a plan that you paid into and paid for so that you can collect some money 25 - 40 years after you made that investment.
They worry most about their own backsides and then about making sure the other side cannot succeed and look good. They both do that. The country should demand better.
I agree with what you are trying to say. People really need to think for themselves. Make their own decisions based on getting all the information, and not just scary headlines that don't tell all of the story. Thank you guys
Charlie, I have to agree with you there. I watched his election and couldn't imagine people voting for him. Now he is coming across as sane and reasonable.
Very interesting Podcast Mike and Farmer Chris...I'm from England and we're in a **** mess...you asked the question how did we get in this mess... it surely starts by too many people engaged in non productive bureaucracy, wokeism, do gooding, welfare entitlement - after a while these people have done their job...but they must keep their useless no productive roles, so they work hard to create more self perpetuating uselessness that consumes money, time and employs more useless positions
Mike, you said something that I wish everyone would do! Vote for your children!! Well said! Ok, two things, vote for the person and not the party! Been saying and doing that for years! Do your diligence and research! Good podcast.
Don’t put something out for public consumption if you can’t take the heat from the blowback. It’s not just shooting the breeze. This is a planned event. So you can stop with that BS.
I am Canadian, worked in the agg and resource sector you are exactly right, our problem is the disarray within our national government! We have been remiss in not doing our share of the load of security issue. Most of this problem is insecurity of voters, in Canada, fanned by the media. You pod cast rates up with Jordon Pedersen and Mike Rowe explaining the disfunction within our community.
I can't express the immense respect and gratitude I have for you and all the fellow farmers! Some of our biggest challenges coming up will be all those people who are so used to receiving handouts from grants being cut off and they will be the first ones to rant and rave demanding their politicians do something or else. We are exceptionally vulnerable with CCP owning a great many ports of call. Five on the Eastern side of Africa, one at the South tip and one at the Northeast. If it weren't for the rough cities of the Atlantic Ocean, they would have more... Having the ability to create a choke point offers them opportunities of control and an extreme disadvantage to all countries not in their alignment of the Belt Road Initiative, ( shipping and receiving).
Everyone has an ability to do one thing well. I am a handy mum and never had the idea of running a business. I fully admire those with the know how to run a business and employ people. It is your abilities and skills that draw people to watch you create the quality work you do, with a sense of humour. Thanks for allowing us in.
This is the type of discourse I prefer. None of the usual "if you don't think the way I think, you're an idiot" stuff. I may not agree with everything, or then again, I might, but I do like listening to Mike and Chris discuss actual important topics from a point of view of the regular guy. My hat is off to you both.
That is the biggest problem in this world right now. That if you don't agree with some then you are wrong. They don't want to talk about and hear why you think the way you think.
Being in local politics, there are things I agree with you on and some I don't. The reason for the party was originally supposed to provide a base line of beliefs. Now, those lines have swapped and become blurred but on the local level you will find more people holding to the traditional values of the party. I 1,000% agree with you that both parties have let the extremist in the party go way to far. I'm like ya'll, we need to get back to the center and learn to work with each other.
A question for farmer Chris. I grew up on a farm in Oregon. While my path took me away from the farm and farming I’m still very much involved in and support agriculture. We as a country would be and are nothing without natural resources and the farmers and ranchers that keep us going. What we are facing on the west coast is constant attack on agriculture and natural resources. Are you seeing the same thing in your area? What the population needs to realize is without farmers we can’t feed ourselves. I truly hope we can get this country to change course before it’s too late. I’m not a religious person but god bless our farmers. They deserve it and need it.
We are pretty fortunate that Indiana has the “Right to Farm” law but it does get challenged on occasions. Still too much policy and oversight dampers profitability.
I watch you Mike and see Chris get wrapped up in Mike and Aaron's nonsense and really enjoy it. This is probably my favorite video whether working or the podcasts. Would love to be somewhere close to be able to meet you guys. Central Wisconsin here, hope the winter treats both of you well.
I will agree with you all we need to take care of United States first then worry about the other countries. People in this country needs help as much as the other countries got veterans living out on the street that’s not right. God bless you all. Have a happy and safe new year.
As someone who lives on the other side of the pond, i find this interresting. And also worried about what’s going on... One thing that is the same over here, is that we are truly divided and are going backwards to the 1800’s again. My two cents on this topic, nothing will change until we all manage to bring common sense back to the leadership. We don’t need more bulls....t now.
Love the podcast and the range of topics, commend you for venturing into the forbidden zone! On the topic of Tariffs, the US could be better served by simply cutting the subsidies they pay to developing nations (China?) to ship goods to the US. So in essence we pay for them to ship product to market here in the US, they then load the ship with cargo from factories that they own here and ship to market Elsmere what a deal.
If the larger population could take more time, as suggested, to research the information being feed to them thru popular media outlets they might make better decisions as a whole. Hold up though it better be fed in short minute or less clips or we might lose interest 🤣. Good points and perspective, lets make America great again (and less sensitive)! 👍😁
At 1 hour into this video, I heard something I should comment on. When Orange County California went bankrupt, they laid off about 20% of all County employees. And everyone said "The county will not function without every one of those employees. Turns out they can run with 20% less staff! That was around 1995. My buddy, his wife worked for Orange County. We both worked for the City of Long Beach. We both understood that about 10% of our city staff can go away, and still meet the things that the city HAS to do. But not some of the optional things. Like putting city lawn down the center of a street. And needing to mow that lawn, and use a edger down that 7 miles of street. There are many people, like analyst, they are paid to study a problem, and figure out why it is so expensive. And then they charge that program for their cost to run the study. (The Beetles wrote a song, "Don't ask us what we spent it on, unless you want to spend some more"). The Department of Efficiency, it can take in some feedback, and then make decisions on the things that can be cut, and not effect how the country runs. There was a program once that offered a reward for cutting back on someone's job. One guy said "My job is not required" and they saved $40,000 by removing his position from the payroll. (this was back in the 1980's). I don't know if he got trained to do another job or just retired or found a private job. Back in 2018 or 2019, they got rid of a lot of un-production union employees, who really where not doing their job, but the Union was keeping them working, and there was nothing but frustration from the supervisors who wanted to get rid of the dead weight! It is really difficult to get rid of a not production union employee, especially when they work for the Government. And these 2,000 - 5,000 employees worked for the VA! The troops are the one's that suffered because of these lazy employees.
I am glad to hear you and Famer Chris comment on 'Term Limits' and politicians who only use the office to get wealthy. We have too much of that mentality. Also glad to hear you express thoughts on DOGE. Way too much waste , graft & greed in our Washington
DP very well said towards the tail end of your and Farmer Chris’s conversation. The US needs to take care of our people and our country first and stop sending money to everyone around the world, when we have a tremendous homeless population in this country, including veterans and imo no veteran should be homeless ever.
Both the US and the UK are in the same position. We need a complete political reset.Ban career politicians make them work in buisness (not banking) for 20 years before they qualify for getting elected. This podcast is one of the best (ihave enjoyed all the previous ones).
This was a great podcast and I agree with everything you talked about 💯% I'm just to the south of you guys a couple hours in central Eastern Kentucky and the next few years might be rough but it will be better than the last 4 and america will be better many years down the road because of the next 4 years I believe, Thank you Gentlemen for not being afraid to get on here and express your thoughts and beliefs because they are A LOT of hard working Americans that stand with you and believe the same way you do.
I just voted for the both of you to run out country. Everything you gentlemen spoke about I agree with. And some parts are very scary if they don't change for the better. Keep up the good work guys
Jill Biden's degree "In January 2007, at age 55, she received a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in educational leadership from the University of Delaware."
Two smart men I totally agree with. Something has to change, I'm worried for my son's future. That's a shame.i'm just praying there's good changes coming very soon
I understand the foreign dependency point, but here’s something else to consider, that is the old adage that when goods and services cross borders armies don’t. There are some benefits to being connected globally.
Great podcast fellas! The "foot in mouth" holidays with the family was pretty awkward... As for Elon, he's also absolutely hilarious! His social media posts are so funny!
Farmer Chris im in the poultry business in Louisiana. Are you seeing foreign purchases of poultry farms in your area because they are buying and building farms like wildfire down here
We have Farbest Farms based close by, the last I knew they were the 5th largest turkey producer in the nation. Tyson closed their chicken facility here.
Hey, Here what I have heard from 4 companies in Canada. I had a part failure called them no problem replaced the part. They told me the talk is after Jan 2025 boycott America they're not going to send parts or their equipment to the US. And then three other companies I talked to up there said the same thing they're saying that it could be up to 18 months they're not going to ship to the us anything that they're all joining together he said he says they've talked to other European countries too and same thing so we could be out in the cold as far as to getting critical parts we need. Then you say well we'll just have the America make the product well it takes time to you know get a company to tool up in manufacture these parts then there's copyrights and patents that could be affected too so there's a right way and a wrong way to negotiate my grandfather's old saying you know you get more things with honey than you do with vinegar I'm not picking political sides but then there's the whole Brazil thing with the agriculture the world might not need to buy our grains anymore
Great pod guys, one thing I'd disagree with is that the UK don't just accept what they're given, they're patient, and will tolerate some interference, and yes they will make a line at the drop of a hat, but they get as angry as any of my US friends when something doesn't make sense. Regards Elon, his whole life has been the preservation of humanity and you can see it all his projects, from Tesla, SpaceX, X, XAi, Neuralink, and even Boring company which will doubtless build radiation safe habitats on Mars.
It’s obvious to say that most of your audience are probably blue collar workers and that we think a little differently than others… we think long term and what’s best for our families and the country in the future. We’re willing to sacrifice and suffer any bumps in the road for the greater good. I commend you two for having the courage to strike a “Political/Current Event” conversation on a platform that invites so much opportunity for discourse despite any negatives that you may encounter. There may be few in the grand scheme of your audience, but Haters Gonna Hate… looking forward to catching you on the next one!
I agree with alot you fellas are saying . I also am curious about trump and musk because if we remember back in the john d Rockefeller day all those men that built big industry where not aloud to hold political office such as president and such so I am extremely interested to see what they do with a country that let's face is for many years become a business. Ganna be cool to see hopfully.just my opinion from upstate ny have a good one guys love watching
Recently we went to an end of the year show in the theater. Here the theory of “Cathedral thinking” was discribed. Centuries ago architects started building these huge cathedrals with a vision to acomplish something beautiful for future generations, knowing they would never see the end result themselfs because they knew at the start that the build would take 100+ years to finish. This future based thinking is what is missing in current politics, not just in the US, in Europe the debat is getting harder and more selfish on a growing scale. The new president is, let we say, to the point, but it is a business man running a country, those are two different things. We have a saying “to govern is to look ahead” and that is missing in a lot of current goverments. I think we need more “Cathedral thinking” and think more about future generations instead of ourselfs.
Was looking forward to this podcast. Enjoyed it and hope you do another along the same lines. I would like to hear more of your thoughts on the way things may go with the change in regime, and the way you feel it should be going. As for DOGE, I'm excited about its potential, but fearful that the system will not allow them to make significant change. The bright side I see there is Elon has a huge platform and will use it to make the public aware of government waste, and shine a huge spotlight on it. I'm hopeful that will cause enogh visibility that it can't be ignored. Keep up the good work guys.😸
We need borders and walls become the borders. Do you lock your doors of your home ? Yes, you do and with that same thought, is why our borders need secured.
I used to vote a split ticket. Now, not now for quite a while. Been on retirement since 2016. I can't afford a lot of food that i use to purchase. I don't care about rich people have. They earned it. I see the struggles, I feel them also. I still get taxed. I just thank the good Lord, I woke up. I am lucky I still make my house payment, and my car will be paid off this year. I consider myself blessed. I worked over 40 years, so I could retire. I could keep going, but I won't. I LIVE IN ARIZONA! I KNOW! AMERICA 🇺🇸 FIRST!!!!
Mike and Chris, I agree. We need to have equal taxes for all. We need to get rid of all tax breaks in government that is why we are in the predicament We are in in this country. Tax breaks another issue . The schools and fire and police have been cut so much by these tax breaks puts more pressure on the residents. The welfare system is not to be lived on people. Don't want to work
This is good stuff. I think you give some good thought and perspective. I don’t agree with everything you said but that’s the beauty of this country, we are allowed to have different opinions about stuff. Two things: I think most people are OK there are rich people. Like you, I’ve been trying for a long time and am not there lol. My issue is that rich people can buy politicians and get laws passed that advantage them and disadvantage others. You both said everyone has the same opportunity. That is simply not true. I would love to talk about this in person at the next Stream show lol.
Great video! So many people are closed minded. We can agree or disagree on views but at the end of it we should all have the same common goal of one nation…. Not two sides fighting in a nation I mean that already caused one war ….
I have to admit I enjoyed your perspectives. Just don't lose the audience you have gained with your other venue. Pontificators are a dime a dozen but you offer something in your other venue that is both informative and etnertaining. Just food for thought. Thank you.
During the 90’s the business environment was totally different than today ,large employers had a totally different philosophy than today ,I was able to be part of starting of school ,business mentoring partnership ,Tean homeless shelter and the good market conditions allowed me to be part of all those good things .politically we were different, and made deals
To follow up in 2000 my world changed as a commercial GC with a heavy manufacturing construction base ,and trade with china, doors closed quickly,we had to reinvent our marketplace and and even had to do commercial bidding
They keep sending a metric ton of money to other countries and you have all these states that could really use the help. I grew up in the fire service and fema does a grant every year and they always give the money to the big city’s when you have company’s in small communities around the county that are still running and using equipment and apparatus from the 80s it’s crazy.
I'm watching the ways the pandemic revealed the nature of our governance in Canada (same as most in Europe - lock-step). For me, states rights saved free speech in north America.
IF all politicians thought like Mike & Cris our country would
be in a lot better shape !

Next election, Mike Rowe for President, Farmer Chris for Ag Secretary and Dirt Perfect for Treasury Secretary.

I WILL get political for a sec...So far these days Fetterman is the only Dem that makes sense and that is saying a lot... lol
Charlie, I have to agree with you there. I watched his election and couldn't imagine people voting for him. Now he is coming across as sane and reasonable.
@@James_Scheidhe is smart enough to see the what’s up and has switched sides… but I still don’t trust him

Great Pod cast with valuable info! Thanks Mike & Chris! Lee
This was great these are the conversations that are needed the more opinions the more options.
Remember these gentlemen are shooting the breeze, this is just a discussion, show them some respect please. Thanks. 🇺🇲
Don’t put something out for public consumption if you can’t take the heat from the blowback. It’s not just shooting the breeze. This is a planned event. So you can stop with that BS.

I agree one hundred percent with voting for what is going to be best for my children’s future!
Great conversation. The majority of the population have become sheep. It will take some very uncomfortable times to fix what we have lost.

Mike this is one of the best podcast you and Chris have done.
If the larger population could take more time, as suggested, to research the information being feed to them thru popular media outlets they might make better decisions as a whole. Hold up though it better be fed in short minute or less clips or we might lose interest 🤣. Good points and perspective, lets make America great again (and less sensitive)! 👍😁
This is the one I asked about on the other podcast. I wish Chris talked more about the farm bill under both administrations. Good job on the tip-toe 👍
GOOD MORNING DP AN FARMER CHRIS

Excellent conversation.
Great podcast!
I like the way you two think and understand.
I am glad to hear you and Famer Chris comment on 'Term Limits' and politicians who only use the office to get wealthy. We have too much of that mentality. Also glad to hear you express thoughts on DOGE. Way too much waste , graft & greed in our Washington
From what I here from you two ( in between the lines ) I agree with the two of you. Good work guys.
Not lawyers, also!
The one requirement that a politician should have is being able to balance a checkbook.
Great video guys ,,,please everyone please think about this.
Interesting video. Im surprised but glad you guys talked about it.
Two smart men I totally agree with. Something has to change, I'm worried for my son's future. That's a shame.i'm just praying there's good changes coming very soon
Never comment on videos on RUclips but I’m so glad I did not miss this video to very smart, intelligent men
I understand the foreign dependency point, but here’s something else to consider, that is the old adage that when goods and services cross borders armies don’t. There are some benefits to being connected globally.
Well said gentleman 👍👍👍
Good stuff guys, couldn’t agree with you more. 👍
It's good to hear from like minded people.
Spot on guys 👍
Term limits are required now!
Great podcast fellas! The "foot in mouth" holidays with the family was pretty awkward...
As for Elon, he's also absolutely hilarious! His social media posts are so funny!
I am like both of you guys I vote for the person not the party. I also agree with you guys on getting rid of the parties.
Absolutely I've lived my life I'm in it for my kids and grandkids.
Remember the old saying sticks an stones may break my bones but names will never harm me. Good video, I like hearing what you two think! 🎚️🇺🇸👍
I would like to know more about the Farm Bill. Sometimes what we hear is nothing like what it is, there is little trust in politicians.
I trust many politicians a lot more than any of the news media
At 11:04 sounds like another U.S. conspiracy theory. :) Thank you and have a great week.
the biggest problem world wide and doesn't matter where you from no one in power is held accountable for there actions
We've Got To Take Care Of Ourselves!!!!!!
If out of 340 million people those were to 2 best candidates you could find, your country is in trouble.
Good chat boys, and some food for thought.
Run DP ( for office ) run. People will turn on you but our kids deserve honest, smart, business minded leaders and you would win.
We need you in a Indianapolis.
Is that a Budlight on the table?
No
I really wish you could take this country wide ! !
America is on a slippery slope. But at least now we can get some traction heading in the right direction before it's too late .
Congressional term limits!
Good show y'all.
Ah men to working together. I am so sick on party lines and no compromise!
Great video! So many people are closed minded. We can agree or disagree on views but at the end of it we should all have the same common goal of one nation…. Not two sides fighting in a nation I mean that already caused one war ….
You made a comment right at the beginning that made me think. So good podcast.
Thank you that was the only point of this
I have to admit I enjoyed your perspectives. Just don't lose the audience you have gained with your other venue. Pontificators are a dime a dozen but you offer something in your other venue that is both informative and etnertaining. Just food for thought. Thank you.
Great conversation
Thanks
Bobby Goodson I would like to see on the podcast
Some one who can see the bigger picture. Thank you for another Great video. Cheers
Thanks
i like your podcast
The reason the life politicians are still there is because people vote by party not performance
I'm watching the ways the pandemic revealed the nature of our governance in Canada (same as most in Europe - lock-step). For me, states rights saved free speech in north America.
