In my book, Ms Chan Chan is truly a world citizen who always gives caring, sharing, loving to everyone regardless of who or what he/ she is. Her kindness to everyone is sky the limit. She is indeed a heroine from Myanmar who works selfless, tireless in giving free tutorials and lessons via RUclips and sacrificing her personal and family life. It was indeed a great honor and pleasure to have her as my Korean language tutor and well as a true friend. To summarize, she is an Earth Angel. Enough said!!!!!

Impressive video! I love how fluid she is when speaking and her voice is beautiful. Sometimes when listening to non-native speakers, even those at an advanced level, you can hear that they sound like a foreigner speaking Korean, but she has really grasped the intonation and pacing. She also seems to be very comfortable, so she sounds natural, at least to me. Well done!

it's all about keeping it fun. Whether it's reading lyrics to your favorite kpop group and trying to sing along. Or maybe reenacting scene from kdramas or watching Korean RUclipsrs. It's very easy to stay stagnant with textbooks and etc. Also, I studied korean on and off for 5 years (I'm barely high intermediate though, maybe even just intermediate) and I made the mistake of depending on quizlet vocab lists without context and not practicing by making my own sentences or speaking aloud to myself often enough. Just keep making it fun, maybe set small but manageable goals (sometimes I listen to my favorite kpop song and see how much of it can I understand more than before).

omg. ive been studying korean language too, at first i found it hard so i stopped, but months later i decided to pursue learning korean again, and I realised that "REPETITION" really helps. Learn the alphabet first so that you wont rely on romanizations, cos if you learn the alphabet youll know how to read their words. its a step by step process tbh. its important / its a must to know their alphabet first before aything else, then work on the vocabularies, nouns, verbs, learn to conjugate, then practice writing sentences and so on.
and guyssss..... theres no shortcuts to learning korean, see how it even took her years to learn it too.
    BELIEVE ME, REPETITION IS KEY!

The best tip for learning Korean : already speak an SOV language. Wrapping my head around that is the hardest part of the entire thing, for me. I've studied French and Spanish, small bit of High German(Swiss). Those, because of that one change, are far easier for a native SVO speaker. I've never gotten past the translate-it-in-your-head-first stage :(
I'm determined to get better. It is a bit(lot) demotivational though.

      SOV - Subject Object Verb
      SVO - Subject Verb Object

For example English is an SVO language.
      I [S] went [V] to the store [O]
Japanese and Korean are SOV languages. So the sentence would be built this way:

There's nothing to worry about. You can reach this level as well if you put in the time and hard work. With 17 years of experience there's no doubt she has spent over 20,000 hours on Korean ~ most likely a LOT more considering she lives in Korea and used it in college, and now for work and family life. If you can understand 95% of this you're already at a high level. At this level focus on your weak points and spend more time on things you want to be good at.

This was really encouraging. I’ve been learning Korean for 8 months and have been working online with my teacher who lives in Seoul. I came upon a desire to learn Korean the same way she did. I really hope that by working hard and not giving up I will be able to get to a fluent level. Great video, thank you.

Hi, can I ask how did you find your teacher? I'm looking for a Korean teacher as well but I'm not sure where to look. Thank you! 😊

@@hopeworld5869 Hi 👋 Thank you for asking. Interestingly, a friend of mine is Japanese and is fluent in both Japanese and English and has taught both languages in both the US and Japan. She told me that she started teaching again using an online platform called Verbling. That peaked my interest so I did a free class with her just to try it. I didn’t want to study Japanese so I started looking at the Korean teachers. I read their bios and watched their introduction videos and that is how I found my teacher. What’s great is that their bios show their degrees, qualifications, reviews, etc. so you can choose a teacher that’s right for you. You can buy lessons singularly or in groups of 5, 10, or 20. I wait until Verbling does a sale and then I buy 20 at a time because it’s cheaper that way. I hope it works for you if you decide to check it out.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence but when I visited Korea my impression was that strangers were quite friendly. For example, I exprienced quite a few times that an ajumma or 할머니 would come up to me asking for directions or when I was sitting at this bench before times square mall this 할머니 kept talking to me and showing pics of her grandkids on her phone. She looked so happy I just kept nodding and smiled at her as a response lolll or maybe i just attract ajumma's 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ anyway Chan Chan is so pretty and smart~

Wow! This video was truly inspiring! I've been interested in the Korean culture for a while (Kpop, kdrama, kfood, architecture, etc.) but I only really started learning the language this year. I'm already using TTMIK's content and now I'm definitely going to take a look at her channel. I'm obviously not the best judge but her pronunciation and overall fluidity when she was speaking seemed really natural. At the moment I can't even picture myself at her level, but that level of fluent is my goal ❤️❤️❤️

Wow speaking that language for more than a decade is no mean feat. I do agree that if you dun give up you will eventually reach that fluency, given constant learning and exposure. What she did was pretty much what I have done for abt a year and now I could understand everything she said. Speaking is an issue though, hoping to travel to Korea for an immersion prog to obtain that breakthrough soon ^^

Awesome, she really went far! I agree that Korean wasn’t popular at all in the 2000s (at least outside of Japan or East Asia), but that’s really changed in the last decade. There are many more resources nowadays too :) Her story is inspiring! I may not be the best judge, but she sounds so natural and speaks fluently 😀
