    RV and RD are the last greats, the last monsters of dirt bike who closed the golden era. The greatest era in SX/MX that started in the 90s with the King, was brought on a higher level by the GOAT, CR and JS and so ended with RV and RD.

    • @DouweEgbert
      @DouweEgbert 3 года назад +2

      Totally agree , with RV and RD retiring the last great riders from the USA ended … those were riders who could show up at every track en win .. time the USA won the MXON .. it’s a matter of time , so many riders in USA with lots of talent … there will be next great riders in future without a doubt ..

    • @slayer6936
      @slayer6936 3 года назад +2

      Actually it started in the late 70s and lasted till the RC retired!!! The old SX tracks were the shit in them days not like the ones today!!! And i think they need to go to 125,250 and 450 classes, and have both SX AND MX points combined for the championship!!! Plus add a women's class!!!

      Completely disagree. How in the world did the "golden age" end at the end of Dungeys career that was like 2 years ago lol. And Tomac has more wins then RV how you gonna say they are the "last greats" of an era? Tomac and Dungey basically the same fkin era lol.

    • @DouweEgbert
      @DouweEgbert 2 года назад +3

      @@zumptt How many Sx titles has Tomac ? How many MXON has Tomac won ? How many SX titles have RV and Dungey ? How many MXON did RV and Dungey win with USA ? Tomac has a lot of wins , RV and Dungey did a lot better in a shorter career ..Tomac might be best from USA at moment , but RV and RD were better .. titles show

    In greatness,..2nd to only Ricky Carmichael.
    Ryan Villopoto, much like Carmichael, was super talented but also was a complete animal with the inner drive to win that was greater than other riders.
    So when you are better than everyone on talent and also have a determination and driven will to win that is next-level,..You get Carmichael and Villopoto.

      @@thumpernats obviously you can find a handful of standout performances from almost any top level rider, and Tomac is clearly a world class talent, but you’re putting him in the same category here with all timers that have proven, career-long pedigree. Sometimes he’s the fastest guy on track, other times he’s way off (and often). That’s not really a trait those other names ever had.

    I've often wondered what would have happened if he had switched teams and lit a new fire under his ass. How much more could he have won? He had one of the most dominant riding styles I've ever witnessed. With renewed motivation, he could have easily become the 1st 5 time in a row SX champion. Oh well, he is still one of the best to ever have done it.

    RV was part of the corporate generation. Look at the generation before Villo they were loose and free-spirited. You don't see block passes anymore. No offense but in 2006 the comp was weak. I liked Erin Bates. I loved that Monster Million race and I bet Feld thought that there was no way anyone was taking the prize. Whoops thought wrong. Ryan just added to his many Millions. Dungey was good but RV was #great. Where Dungey played it safe RV was off the chain god he was amazing. Great video.
