- LA's Strongest 35ton Wrecker FOR SALE! If you guys are regular fans of the channel, you've no doubt seen unit 70 in a lot of my older videos. I stay doing strictly rotator work as does Alex, so the wrecker fleet we have doesn't make it on here too often. Sad to see this truck go, but with the addition of Hulk 2.0 on order, we need the room.
This 2014 Peterbilt 389 with an extended sleeper has a 2019 35ton wrecker body. What makes it the strongest? The huge Cummins ISX 600 engine. I've yet to see another 35ton wrecker with one of these as they all come with the 500 series. Hulk and Big Flipper both have the 500 series for example.
We don't really travel out of state, but I know tons of companies that do. That's where the extra power and massive sleeper come in handy. Combined with an 18 speed, this thing pulls gears like no one's business. The video is quick just to put out there, because anyone in the market that knows their stuff will know what this is.

They did one where during a funereal procession for a fellow operator, I think they might had all of them out. But it was a very long line of tow trucks also from the fellow operators

Awesome truck Josh…! Very clean and in great condition too…! Josh, you have a beautiful city location you should be extremely proud of…! That shot from that awesome looking bridge was off the charts…! Just an amazing shot… I know a lot of folks don’t like the ride along scenery shots but there aren’t many opportunities to see and experience your awesome city and surrounding area that imo are breath taking… Many of us live in rural areas and have never had the opportunity to see areas like that blows my mind with unbelievably awesome surroundings…! Seeing it in pictures are ok but when someone sees your city in the way you show us, just grabs my attention and makes me want to get on a jet and fly out to see and experience what you all have out west… Just amazing and I’d like to say a big thank you for showing this video…!!! 👍💯♥ Good luck on selling your truck...!
Had i not ended up in a wheelchair, it was my dream job to be a heavy haul and heavy tow operator, the technicality some of the bigger job need, i think is awesome.
Sorry you didn't get to follow your dream career. I have a great amount of admiration for the guys who do this work. I am embarrassed to say the only mechanical thing I ever did in my life was change a tire.

Man that's a beautiful wrecker at a very fair price. Sad to see it go, but hope someone gets many years and lots of good use out of it. Who will be operating Flipper now? I enjoy all the videos of Alex using it.

Sorry if I missed it but why are you letting this one go though? Yes, you do have a higher spec wrecker coming in but wouldn't you want to keep the best in your stable and cull from the bottom? Either way - great content as always..

@Leotheconstructionguy I agree but the difference between a M100 and a crane is the M100 is more maneuverable and has a higher top speed then a crane.
Pepe's doesn't need an M100. They cost the same as 2 1150s and offer less flexibility on a package that is way too heavy for California. There's not much that can't be handled by an 1150, a 1075, and a 50-ton or two, so out of the thousands of calls Pepe's handles a year there might be only 2 or 3 that an M100 would actually be more useful than a 1075 for

Yes, outside of California.
Absolutely, The wreckers we put on these things are hundreds of thousands of dollars new, These are by no means throw away trucks. Just like a semi has big resale vs a pickup truck because the chassis is so valuable, In a pickup if it blows an engine its often reached the end of its life, for a semi if it blows an engine you rebuild it or engine swap it, It isn't a throw away truck, and then wreckers are one step up, engine blows you replace is, chassis fails you chassis swap it, Wrecker fails you rebuild it, These trucks are cycled, fixed, etc for decades.
California Air Resources Board, their state level version of the EPA forces truck owners to buy new vehicles after 6 years. Properly maintained, commercial chassis vehicles can last millions of miles and engines can be in use for tens of thousands of hours with maintenance and the occasional rebuild. Things do wear out eventually, but these things are designed to be easily rebuilt and beefy.

Good deal, plus $1000's of tools and equipment, long range fuel tanks and the sleeper cab. That truck will get snapped up quickly.
Are you trading it for a rotator?
Will the new truck have an Allison transmission? I never got why anyone would want a manual transmission for a heavy duty wrecker. Pulling heavy duty over sized loads, the risk for losing the drive shaft. Plus, much faster and smoother acceleration compared to a manual. The other factor, better for the emissions system I believe, as power is constant and less soot created and more constant heat for the after treatment system.
Can I drive it without a commercial license if I register it as an RV?
