    • @Lucky8s
      @Lucky8s 4 года назад +6

      To be fair, automakers are adding more features on their base models, which justifies the price increases. Every Toyota gets their entire suite of safety equipment. Ford's all come with safety systems (though ACC is an a la carte option). Mazda's have most safety systems standard, some extras as packages. More notably, LED headlights are becoming standard on all models, which is welcome.

      Jeep has raised the margins on the Wrangler because they know people pay up to look "macho" in the city. 95% won't ever take it on as much as a gravel road.

      You can still buy them for $30k-$40k. You can even get a Sahara or a Rubicon for around $40k. Just don't buy options. There's upwards of $20k in options for these things.

    • @weedmastersr

      The prices are the same but for Jeeps and most cars these days you can double their price in options. Just get a bare bones one and you'll get it cheap. Add all the stupid, needless toys, and you pay double.

      Blame the environmental industries for forcing car manufactures to comply with their made-up do-gooder emissions standards. This is why computers have to regulate everything in order to meet new standards. It all a racket. No Tesla on the road will last as long as my Dads old 71 F-150 that's still running. People bitching about the price when wranglers have always been expensive, a 2 door jk manual rubicon was 42k with no options a few years ago, make it a four door add a diesel and a plethora of options, you can see how it would change. And how much nicer the JLs are is amazing. Better in every way than the jk and better than any weak ass sport with a voided warranty that you could build to be “better”. All cars are getting more expensive as time goes on, no shit, y’all people expect things to get better/nicer/faster/more mpg for the same price. Not to mention the resell value on these things, buy literally anything else for 65k and after 5 years it would probably be worth around half what this would sell for.

      Don’t replace that GX with anything, I myself have a GX460 2014 with 150,000 miles. I’ve had it for 5 years, best car I’ve ever owned, and you can properly off road a GX, they are extremely capable off-roaders. You through a lift and some all terrains on her and you pretty much got yourself a fancier 4Runner.

    • @bobgoat5994

      Or just buy the base model with the diesel for $36k, and add a lift and tires for $3k. I don't know why you would buy a brand new base model with the gas engine just to spend a couple grand on a diesel engine and the parts to swap it in, which would probably cost around $4k anyway, and be a waste of time. And I don't know how you would end up spending almost $30k to make a base model on par with a rubicon.
